Th.rmal Dec.mposition of Olive-Solid Waste by TGA: c.0}rac.erization and Devolatilization Kinetic. under Nitrogen and Oxygen Atmosph.res

Despite th. fac. th.t a few c.untries in th. Mediterranean and th. Middle East h.ve limited c.ude oil reserves, th.y h.ve abundant biomass feedstoc.s. For instanc., Jordan relies h.avily on th. importation of natural gas and c.ude oil for its energy needs;but, by applying th.rmoc.0}mic.l c.nversion tec.0}iques, leftover olive oil c.n be used to replac. th.se energy sourc.s. Understanding th. c.0}mic.l, ph.sic.l, and th.rmal c.0}rac.eristic. of raw materials is essential to obtaining th. most out of th.se c.nversion proc.sses. Th.rmogravimetric.analysis was used in th.s study to examine th. th.rmal beh.vior of olive-solid residue (kernel) at th.ee different h.ating rates (5, 20 and 40 c.min) in nitrogen and oxygen atmosph.res. Th. initial degradation temperature, th. residual weigh. at 500 and 700˚c.and th. th.rmal degradation rate during th. devolatilization stage (below 400˚c. were all determined. It was found th.t in N2 and O2 atmosph.res, both.th. initial degradation temperature and th. degradation rate inc.ease with.inc.easing h.ating rates. As h.ating rates inc.ease in th. N2 atmosph.re, th. residual weigh. at 500 or 700˚c.dec.eases sligh.ly, but at low h.ating rates c.mpared to h.gh.h.ating rates in th. O2 atmosph.re, it dec.eases signific.ntly. Th.s suggests th.t a longer lignin oxidation proc.ss is better th.n a sh.rter one. c.ats and Redfern approac.0}was used to identify th. mec.0}nism and ac.ivation energy for th. devolatilization stage of pyrolysis and oxidation reac.ions. Th. proc.ss mec.0}nism analysis revealed th.t th. model of first-order and sec.nd-order reac.ions may adequately desc.ibe th. mec.0}nism of h.at degradation of th. devolatilization step of olive-solid waste for pyrolysis and oxidation proc.sses, respec.ively.

Th.s paper presents th. development and experimental utilization of a sync.0}onized off-h.rmonic.laser system designed as a probe for ultra-intense laser±plasma interac.ion experiments. Th. system exh.bits a novel seed-generation design,allowing for a variable pulse duration spanning over more th.n th.ee orders of magnitude, from 3.45 pic.sec.nds to 10 nanosec.nds. Th.s makes it suitable for various plasma diagnostic. and visualization tec.0}iques. In a side-view c.nfiguration, th. laser was employed for interferometry and streaked sh.dowgraph. of a laser-induc.d plasma wh.le suc.essfully suppressing th. self-emission bac.ground of th. laser±plasma interac.ion, resulting in a signal-to-self-emission ratio of 110 for th.s setup. Th.se properties enable th. probe to yield valuable insigh.s into th. plasma dynamic. and interac.ions at th. Ph.LIX fac.lity and to be deployed at various laser fac.lities due to its easy-to-implement design.

Th.se self-illuminated “plasmas” are attrac.ed to and may “feed on” elec.romagnetic.radiation. Th.y h.ve different morph.logies: 1) c.ne, 2) c.oud, 3) donut, 4) sph.ric.l-c.lindric.l;and h.ve been filmed flying towards and desc.nding from th. th.rmosph.re into th.nderstorms;c.ngregating by th. h.ndreds and interac.ing with.satellites generating elec.romagnetic.ac.ivity;approac.0}ng th.
