The synergistic study of Acacia Senegal (arabic gum) and Anacardium occidentale (cashew gum) combination in corrosion inhibition of mild steel was carried out to determine the inhibition efficiency of their combination. The gums were purified using standard methods and the blend prepared using the method as described by Femi – Oyewo et al. The blend was then used for corrosion study at two temperatures (303 K and 333 K) and the corrosion rates calculated. The adsorption process was found to satisfy the Langmuir isotherm and hence the sorption study reveals that the interaction is a physical one since the free energy of adsorption (ΔG^(o) ads kJ/mol) is given as (−16.47 and −15.61) kJ/mol at temperature T = 303 K and 333K accordingly. The GCMS technique was used to characterize the blend, five chemical compounds and their area percentage [6-O-(1-L-maloyl)-alpha-,beta-D-Glcp (veracylglucan A) (22.11%), 6-Octadecanoic acid (55.76%), Methylhexadecanoate (3.97%), 1-Pentadecane carboxylic acid (10.78%) and 9, 12-Octadecadienoic acid (7.38%)] were identified and subjected to computation corrosion study, the binding energy for the constituents of the blend on Fe surface were computed using Accelrys Material Studio and the mean values were found to be −327.097 kJ/mol, −446.943 kJ/mol, −602.826 kJ/mol, −608.625 kJ/mol and −693.749 kJ/mol respectively.

The conceptualization of the HousehoLd/Neighborhood Model for skilled nursing facilities began in 1987 at Evergreen Retirement Community in Oshkosh, WI, USA in the search for the ＂perfect＂ nursing home. Being able to see perfection required being freed from the mental constraints of regulations, reimbursement systems, and existing staff training programs so that visionary thinking was possible. ConceptuaLization was followed by a pilot project to test various aspects of the vision. The result was （1） a management philosophy built on Continuous QuaLity Improvement, （2） a team-based organization structure, （3） cross-functionaL staff roles, （4） sociaL-modeL activity programming, and （5） a residential style physical setting that won strong support from the State of Wisconsin. With this support, we had the opportunity to open in 1997 the first fuLL-scaLe model of a HousehoLd/Neighborhood in the United States based upon providing ＂resident and relationship centered services and care＂. The mode[ was validated through a year-tong evaluative research study. In 2004 we opened a second full-scale model incorporating significant improvements identified through experience. The opportunity to further develop the model has been provided through its adoption in China by China Senior Care, which wiLL open their first facility in 2014.

During the past 3 decades,radiation exposure(RE)has increased drastically among patients undergoing percutaneous nephrolithotomy(PCNL),thus potentially causing new cases of cancer each *** effective dose received by patients comes from pre-and postoperative computed tomography(CT)and intraoperative fluoroscopy(FL).We reviewed literature to find novel techniques and approaches that help to decrease RE of patients and *** performed PubMed search using keywords percutaneous nephrolithotomy,intraoperative fluoroscopy,radiation exposure,imaging,percutaneous access,ultrasound,computed tomography,endoscopy,reconstruction,innovations,and augmented ***-four relevant articles were included in this *** much as 20%of patients with first diagnosed urolithiasis exceed background RE level almost *** diagnosing purposes using low-dose and ultra-low-dose CT,as well as low-dose dual energy scan protocols can be efficient ways to decrease RE while maintaining decent *** with urinary stones can be effectively monitored with digital tomosynthesis,ultrasound alone or ultrasound combined with plain film of the *** access(PCA)into the kidney can be performed with reduced or even no RE,using novel PCA *** from conventional imaging techniques during diagnosis and treatment increase probability of non-stochastic radiation *** should be aware of protocols that decrease RE from CT and FL in diagnosis and management of urinary *** of recently developed imaging modalities and PCA techniques will also aid in adherence to the“as low as reasonably achievable”principle.

The proposed site for the construction of a new dam(Laleni Dam)on the Tsitsa River in the Eastern Cape,South Africa falls within a high soil erosion zone,which is expected to affect the lifespan of the *** the sediment yield of the catchment is important from a management perspective,and thus we designed this study to assess the applicability of the Modified Universal Soil Loss Equation(MUSLE).The original MUSLE was applied to the Inxu River sub catchment,upstream of a proposed dam,over a summer rainfall period extending from October 2016 to April 2017.A modified version of the MUSLE,incorporating a storage module,was later applied over the same *** calibration of the MUSLE with and without a storage model was tested against 7 months of recorded daily suspended sediment discharge *** a storage model,we achieved a percentage bias,coefficient of efficiency and R2 of 2%,0.83 and 0.83,respectively,while without storage the performance statistics were markedly *** results suggest that a calibrated MUSLE can provide estimates of sediment yield that are valuable for regional planning,and that the inclusion of a storage component further improves the MUSLE *** the complexity of sediment generation and transport processes,a relatively simple empirical MUSLE model is a useful tool for initial sediment yield estimation for planning purposes.

Screening gene function in vivo is a powerful approach to discover novel drug targets. We present high-throughput screening （HTS） data for 3 762 distinct global gene knockout （KO） mouse lines with viable adult homozygous mice generated using either gene-trap or homologous recombination technologies. Bone mass was determined from DEXA scans of male and female mice at 14 weeks of age and by microCT analyses of bones from male mice at 16 weeks of age. Wild-type （WT） cagemates/littermates were examined for each gene KO. Lethality was observed in an additional 850 KO lines. Since primary HTS are susceptible to false positive findings, additional cohorts of mice from KO lines with intriguing HTS bone data were examined. Aging, ovariectomy, histomorphometry and bone strength studies were performed and possible non-skeletal phenotypes were explored. Together, these screens identified multiple genes affecting bone mass： 23 previously reported genes （Calcr, Cebpb, Crtap, Dcstamp, Dkkl, Duoxa2, Enppl, Fgf23, Kissl/Kisslr, Kl （Klotho）, Lrp5, Mstn, Neol, Npr2, Ostml, Postn, Sfrp4, S1c30a5, Sic39a13, Sost, Sumf1, Src, Wnt10b）, five novel genes extensively characterized （Cldn18, Fam20c, Lrrkl, Sgpll, Wnt16）, five novel genes with preliminary characterization （Agpat2, RassfS, Slc10a7, Stc26a7, Slc30a10） and three novel undisclosed genes coding for potential osteoporosis drug targets.

The productivity, product quality and competitive ability of important agricultural and horticultural plants in many regions of the world may be adversely affected by current and anticipated concentrations of ground-level ozone （O_3）. Exposure to elevated O_3 typically results in suppressed photosynthesis, accelerated senescence, decreased growth and lower yields. Various approaches used to evaluate O_3 effects generally concur that current yield losses range from 5% to 15% among sensitive plants. There is, however, considerable genetic variability in plant responses to O_3.
