Energy storage, such as lead acid batteries, is necessary for renewable energy sources’ autonomy because of their intermittent nature, which makes them more frequently used than traditional energy sources to reduce operating costs. The battery storage system has to be monitored and managed to prevent serious problems such as battery overcharging, over-discharging, overheating, battery unbalancing, thermal runaway, and fire dangers. For voltage balancing between batteries in the pack throughout the charging period and the SOC estimate, a modified lossless switching mechanism is used in this research’s suggested battery management system. The OCV state of charge calculation, in the beginning, was used in conjunction with the coulomb counting approach to estimate the SOC. The results reveal that correlation factor K has an average value of 0.3 volts when VM ≥ 12 V and an average value of 0.825 when VM ≤ 12 V. The battery monitoring system revealed that voltage balancing was accomplished during the charging process in park one after 80 seconds with a SOC difference of 1.4% between Batteries 1 and 2. On the other hand, the system estimates the state of charge during the discharging process in two packs, with a maximum DOD of 10.8 V for all batteries. The project’s objectives were met since the BMS estimated SOC and achieved voltage balance.

Brain damage sustained from repeated blows in boxing, wrestling, and other combat sports has serious physical and mental health consequences. The degenerative brain disease, chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), presents clinically with memory loss, aggression, difficulty in rational thinking and other cognitive problems. This spectrum, which mimics Alzheimer’s disease, is diagnosed post-mortem through a brain biopsy in many professional athletes. However, little is known about the process of development and how to identify vulnerable individuals who may be on course for developing CTE. Boxing is a sport that has a severe toll on athletes’ health, primarily on their brain health and function. This review addresses the concerns of brain injury, describes the pathologies that manifest in multiple scales, e.g., molecular and cognitive, and also proposes possible diagnostic and prognostic markers to characterize the early onset of CTE along with the aim to identify a starting point for future precautions and interventions.

A large portion of the loess Plateau of China is characterized as “marginal” with serious land degradation and desertification problems. Consequently, two policies, Grain for Green and Western Development Action were established by the Chinese government in response to the demand for ecological protection and economic development in the loess Plateau. These policies are designed to increase forest cover, expand farmlands, and enhance soil and water conservation, while creating sustainable vegetation restoration. Perennial grasses have gained attention as bioenergy feedstocks due to their high biomass yields, low inputs, and greater ecosystem services compared to annual crops. Moreover, perennial grasses limit nutrient runoff and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and soil losses while sequestering carbon. Additionally, perennial grasses can generate economic returns for local farmers through producing bioenergy feedstock or forage on marginal lands. Here, we suggest a United States model energy crop, switchgrass（Panicum virgatum l.） as a model crop to minimize land degradation and desertification and to generate biomass for energy on the loess Plateau.

Numerical Experiments Using MATlAB: Superconvergence of Nonconforming Finite Element Approximation for Second-Order Elliptic Problems

The superconvergence in the finite element method is a phenomenon in which the fi-nite element approximation converges to the exact solution at a rate higher than the optimal order error estimate. Wang proposed and analyzed superconvergence of the conforming finite element method by l2-projections. However, since the conforming finite element method (CFEM) requires a strong continuity, it is not easy to construct such finite elements for the complex partial differential equations. Thus, the nonconforming finite element method (NCFEM) is more appealing computationally due to better stability and flexibility properties compared to CFEM. The objective of this paper is to establish a general superconvergence result for the nonconforming finite element approximations for second-order elliptic problems by l2-projection methods by applying the idea presented in Wang. MATlAB codes are published at https://***/annaleeharris/Superconvergence-NCFEM for anyone to use and to study. The results of numerical experiments show great promise for the robustness, reliability, flexibility and accuracy of superconvergence in NCFEM by l2- projections.

目的：本研究通过收集汇总督脉的历史文献,总结督脉特性,在临床上选择并针刺督脉阳性反应点治疗失眠,观察其临床疗效,旨在发现督脉腧穴对失眠的特异反应点及督脉治疗失眠症的作用和特点。方法：观察组收集30例符合失眠诊断的患者,运用脊椎法及走罐检查失眠症患者督脉脊柱段阳性反应点并针刺,评估治疗前后匹兹堡睡眠质量指数及患者填写睡眠自我评价表,运用SPSS配对t检验观察治疗前后的疗效;对照组收集30例健康人,运用脊椎法及走罐收集脊柱段阳性反应点,并与观察组对照,探讨失眠症在督脉的特异阳性反应。结果：观察组患者匹兹堡睡眠质量指数(PSQI)及自我睡眠评估表总分较治疗前均显著降低,7项因子及总分与治疗前相比均Pl4(43%：23%),胸椎T3(27%：10%),胸椎T7(23%：7%);治疗前观察组症状上以易烦躁、背痛、颈肩紧张最多见;治疗后症状减少最突出的是“肩颈部紧张”,较治疗前减少30%。减少范围在22%-23%之间的症状分别为心悸、头痛、身体刺痛麻木、喜叹息。有1/3症状减少幅度在13%-20%之间,包括在腰背疼痛、易烦躁、紧张或颤抖、抑郁、坐卧不安、盗汗。此外,督脉阳性反应点和伴随症状呈现以下相关性：脊柱段督脉阳性反应点的变化是躯体症状的一个重要表现形式。无论督脉阳性反应点消失与否,心慌心悸都存在,而且治疗后下降幅度23-30%。结论：督脉阳性反应点与失眠存在密切关系,针刺督脉阳性反应点治疗失眠有良好效果。

Background:The aim of this in vitro study was to compare side-by-side two models of human bilayered tissue-engineered skin substitutes(hbTESSs)designed for the treatment of severely burned *** are the scaffold-free self-assembled skin substitute(SASS)and the human plasma-based skin substitute(HPSS).Methods:Fibroblasts and keratinocytes from three humans were extracted from skin biopsies(N=3)and cells from the same donor were used to produce both hbTESS *** SASS manu-facture,keratinocytes were seeded over three self-assembled dermal sheets comprising fibroblasts and the extracellular matrix they produced(n=12),while for HPSS production,keratinocytes were cultured over hydrogels composed of fibroblasts embedded in either plasma as unique biomaterial(Fibrin),plasma combined with hyaluronic acid(Fibrin-HA)or plasma combined with collagen(Fibrin-Col)(n/biomaterial=9).The production time was 46-55 days for SASSs and 32-39 days for *** were characterized by histology,mechanical testing,PrestoBlue™-assay,immunofluorescence(Ki67,Keratin(K)10,K15,K19,loricrin,type IV collagen)and Western blot(type I and IV collagens).Results:The SASSs were more resistant to tensile forces(p-valueless elastic(p-valueliferative Ki67+cells were found in SASSs although their metabolic activity was *** epidermal differentiation,no significant difference was observed in the expression of K10,K15,K19 and ***,the production of type I and type IV collagens and the adhesive strength of the dermal-epidermal junction was higher in ***:This study demonstrates,for the first time,that both hbTESS models present similar in vitro biological ***,mechanical properties differ and future in vivo experiments will aim to compare their wound healing potential.

For the analysis of microRNA, a common approach is to first extract microRNA from cellular samples prior to any specific microRNA detection. Thus, it is important to determine the quality and yield of extracted microRNA. In this study, solid-phase extraction was used to isolate small RNA (? Green II staining. Testing for contamination of any small DNA fragments, RNase and cellular peptides or proteins were systematically carried out. By scanning the gel image obtained from PAGE analysis, the average percentage of total microRNA (19 - 25 nt) in the extracted RNA samples was determined to be equal to 2.3 ± 0.5%. The yield of total microRNA was calculated to be ~0.5ng of microRNA per milligram of frozen mouse brain tissue. In comparison to other methods that require the use of expensive specialized instrumentation, the approach of combining the standard UV absorbance and PAGE analysis represents a simple and viable method for evaluating the quality and yield of microRNA extraction from tissue samples.

Objective: To describe the aetiology, clinical presentation, management and outcomes of a series of patients with iatrogenic lesions of the ureter following obstetric or gynaecological surgery treated at Yalgado Ouedraogo University Hospital, Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Methods: This is a case series looking at 14 consecutive patients from 1 January 2011 to 28 February 2017, operated on for urological complications following obstetric and gynaecological surgery. Results: Our study focused on fourteen cases. The average age was 32.9 years (range 20 - 60 years). Thirteen were housewives. Eleven lived in rural areas. The aetiological factor was Caesarian section in seven cases, laparotomy in four cases and hysterectomy in three cases. The type of ureteral injury was bilateral ligation in nine cases. The average time to diagnosis was 16 days (range 2 - 120 days). Anuria was the commonest presenting symptom. Ultrasound in ten patients showed evidence of uretero-hydronephrosis. Eight patients required renal dialysis. Surgical management was uretero-vesical re-implantation in eleven cases, disunion of sutures associated with catheterization in two cases and a termino-terminal ureteral anastomosis in one case. The average hospital stay was 26 days (range 9 - 44 days). The post-operative period was complicated by two cases of vesico-vaginal fistula, one case of parietal suppuration, one case of pyelonephritis and one case of hydronephrosis. No deaths were recorded and a complete cure was ultimately obtained in all patients. Conclusion: Urological complications of obstetric and gynaecological surgery are dominated by ligation of the ureters in our setting. Caesarian section is the commonest cause. Treatment is essentially surgical.
