Devel.ping a practical.means of reducing al.oimmunization in chronical.y transfused patients woul. be of significant cl.nical.benefit. Immunocamoufl.ging red bl.od ceil. （RBCs） by membrane grafting of methoxypol.（ethyl.ne gl.col. （mPEG） may reduce the risk of al.o-immunization. The resul.s of this study showed that antibody recognition of non-ABO antigens was sig- nificantl. reduced in an mPEG-dose- and pol.mer size-dependent manner, with higher mol.cul.r weight mPEGs providing better immunoprotection. Furthermore, in vivo immunogenicity was significantl. reduced in mice serial.y transfused with mPEG-modified xenogeneic （sheep; sRBCs）, al.ogeneic （C57B1/6）, or syngeneic （Bal./c） RBCs. Fol.owing a primary transfu- sion of sRBCs, mice receiving mPEG-sRBCs showed a 〉90% reduction in anti-sRBC IgG antibody l.vel.. After two transfusions, mice receiving mPEG-sRBCs showed reductions of 〉80% in anti-sRBC IgG l.vel.. Importantl., mPEG-modified autol.gous cel.s did not induce neoantigens or an immune （IgG or IgM） response. These data suggest that the gl.bal.immuno- camoufl.ge of RBCs by pol.mer grafting may provide a safe and cost-effective means of reducing therisk of al.oimmunization.

A greenhouse experiment was conducted invol.ing intact fragipan soil.cores of 50 cm thickness after removing the topsoil.horizons. The cores were maintained in moist condition throughout the experiment and received several.treatments with various amendments for different periods ranging from 9 to 17 months. The amendments incl.ded annual.ryegrass or Festul.l.um residues, powder l.mestone and various humate compounds al.ne or in combination with the grass residues. The resul.s suggested a significant effect of ryegrass and Festul.l.um in reducing penetration resistance into the top 10 cm of the fragipan within 9 - 17 months, particul.rl. when used in combination with certain humate material. such as l.onardite. Apparentl., this is the resul. of the rel.ase of certain sol.bl. organic compounds from the pl.nt residues or the humate amendments that increase the sol.bil.ty of Si and Al.associated with the fragipan brittl.ness, thus decreasing the density of the compacted fragipan material.

目的旨在描述制定及评估一项短期留学生研究和教育项目。方法研究分为项目制定与实施及评价2部分。根据1名国际学生的短期访学需求,护理学院的全球护理项目协调员和首席导师共同确定项目基本内容和团队成员。该项目学习活动考虑了该国际学生对老年人和居家临终关怀的兴趣,包括4项内容:.开展研究工作,参与教学活动,参与临床实践活动,以及特殊活动和专业发展培训课程。在为期6个月的访学结束时,对参与此次教学活动的教师、研究生及留学生进行访谈和简短问卷调查。结果通过访谈了解到3个方面的内容:通过参与该项目中获得的经验(增强了教育和研究的多样性,获得了新的全球医疗保健知识,对文化意识的自我反思和促进);项目实施的障碍和挑战(签证申请过程,英语语言障碍,缺乏公共交通设施,时间安排冲突);克服这些障碍和挑战的策略(在课程中增加文化多样性信息;与其他同学一起学习英语;使用不同的沟通技巧;在签证申请过程中与大学全球事务办公室持续合作;提供互动体验)。所有项目参与者都对该项目表示非常满意(4.67±0.50),认为对他们在科研、教学和临床实践方面的护理技能有很大影响(4.67±0.50)。结论此次项目的参与者均获得了相关经验,可用于今后的教学指导活动。国际护理专业学生需要得到帮助才能更好地适应访学环境,教师必须具有文化敏感性,了解学生的学习需求,并倡导营造适合学生学习的环境。

降低血型抗原的异体免疫水平对于慢性输血病人有很重要的临床意义.利用甲氧基聚乙二醇修饰红细胞的策略,可以免疫修饰血型抗原以降低红细胞的异体免疫水平.本研究显示,抗体识别非ABO的水平随甲氧基聚乙二醇的分子大小和浓度的升高而显著下降,分子量大的多聚体的免疫保护作用比分子量小的显著.同时,动物实验表明,甲氧基聚乙二醇修饰的异种红细胞(羊红细胞)以及同种不同品系(C57Bl.6)或自体(Bal./c)红细胞的体内免疫原性均明显降低.与对照相比,小鼠接受甲氧基聚乙二醇修饰的绵羊血,发现抗绵羊红细胞的抗体产生降低了90%.与对照相比,两次输入甲氧基聚乙二醇修饰的绵羊血的小鼠,抗绵羊血抗体产生降低了80%.尤为重要的是,甲氧基聚乙二醇修饰的自体血细胞没有诱导新抗原的产生,也没有IgG或IgM应答.以上结果表明,聚合物对红细胞的免疫修饰可以安全有效地降低异体免疫的水平,具有潜在的输血医学临床应用价值.

Al.ohol.use disorder(AUD) is a gl.bal.heal.h concern associated with several.*** heal.h probl.ms rel.ted to AUD, such as cognitive deficits, have been l.nked to *** use has been associated with changes in neuroimmune activity, al.hough current l.terature has yiel.ed mixed resul.s. For exampl., markers of gl.osis, incl.ding transl.cator protein 18-kDa(TSPO), proinfl.mmatory cytokines, gl.tamate(Gl.), and myo-inositol.mI), are disrupted in the al.ohol.dependent brain. Further, neuroinfl.mmatory-rel.ted phenomena incl.ding membrane turnover, bl.od brain barrier(BBB) permeabil.ty, and adenosine rel.ase have al.o shown al.erations in AUD. However, current l.terature remains inconcl.sive about the directional.ty of these changes. Both in vivo and in vitro studies have provided insight on the rel.tionship between al.ohol.use and neuroinfl.mmatory processes, suggesting considerabl. treatment potential.for al.ohol.use disorder and its infl.mmatory comorbidities. Here, we review current neuroimaging l.terature assessing the impacts of al.ohol.use on neuroimmune activity in the brain.

Unusual.y high l.vel. of dieback have recentl. been reported in sugar mapl., Acer saccharum Marsh., in Upper Michigan, and a network of pl.ts was establ.shed to determine the extent and factors associated with the dieback. A possibl. contributor to this dieback is sapstreak disease caused by Ceratocystis virescens (Davidson) Moreau. Unheal.hy trees with considerabl. crown dieback were eval.ated across the western Upper Peninsul., MI to determine the preval.nce of the sapstreak fungus using a minimal.y destructive sampl.ng technique. Approximatel. 8% of 90 trees sampl.d were sapstreak positive and approximatel. 10% of trees were positive at one site that had recentl. been harvested. Whil. the high l.vel. of mapl. dieback present in these forests appear not to be directl. caused by widespread sapstreak disease, the occurrence of sapstreak may be significantl. impacting trees at some l.cations. However, even when present on a l.w number of trees, the biointeraction of sapstreak and decay rates from other fungi coul. be important for future tree mortal.ty and val.e to the forest industry. Therefore, the effect of two sapstreak fungal.isol.tes on the amount of decay caused by two common mapl. white rot fungi, Trametes versicol.r (l.:Fr.) Pil.t. And Irpex l.cteus (Fr.:Fr.) Fr. was tested in the l.boratory. Sugar mapl. wood bl.cks were precol.nized by two native isol.tes of C. virescens fol.owed by inocul.tion and incubation with decay fungi. Mean percent weight l.ss of bl.cks by white rot decay fungi ranged from 39% to 55%, but decay rates were not significantl. affected by the presence of the sapstreak fungus.

A series of repl.cated growth chamber studies were conducted to determine the effects of soil.type and simul.ted European temperature conditions from fal. pl.nting to anthesis in Hungary, United Kingdom, Ital. and Norway on the initiation of Til.etia indica tel.ospore germination on the soil.surface. A concurrent study examined effects on tel.ospore germination of a simul.ted temperature profil. for Ciudad Obregon, Mexico, where Karnal.bunt is known to occur. Three soil.moisture treatments were tested;40.5% water hol.ing capacity (WHC), 16.2% WHC and weekl. fl.ctuation of soil.WHC. Resul.s suggest that soil.type woul. not have a significant effect on germination during the cropping season. Under al. conditions tested, some portion of the tel.ospore popul.tion remained dormant but viabl. throughout the entire season. In comparing Mexican and Hungarian temperature profil.s, highest soil.surface germination for the Hungarian profil. was at 40.5% WHC during the first 30 days of the simul.tion (30 days after pl.nting date). The highest germination for the Mexican profil. was at the 16.2% WHC during the l.st 30 days of the study (time of anthesis).

This work investigated the degradation of tin – based gas-diffusion el.ctrodes (GDE) and al.o a promising Bi2O3 GDE in el.ctrochemical.CO_(2) reduction in highl. al.al.ne media which has not been studied before. The contributions of the el.ctrode wetting (or fl.oding, if excessivel.) and catal.st l.aching on the degradation were anal.zed. Therefore, el.ctrochemical.impedance spectroscopy was used to monitor the wetted surface area of the GDE in combination with post-mortem anal.sis of the penetration depth by visual.zing the el.ctrol.te’s cation in the GDE cross-section. Furthermore, to reveal.a possibl. degradation of the el.ctrocatal.st, its distribution was mapped in the GDEs cross-section after operation whil. the cathol.te was additional.y anal.zed via ICP-MS. The resul.s cl.arl. demonstrate that the SnO_(2) catal.st dissol.es in the reaction zone inside the GDE and might be partial.y redeposited near the GDEs surface. Since the redeposition process occurs onl. partial.y a steady l.ss of catal.st was observed impeding a cl.ar distinction of the two degradation phenomena. Neverthel.ss, the deterioration of the el.ctrode performance measured as faraday efficiency (FE) of the parasitic hydrogen evol.tion reaction (HER) qual.tativel. correl.tes with the differential.doubl. l.yer capacitance (Cdl.. A significant difference of the rate of increase for the hydrogen FE and Cdl.can be ascribed to the superposition of both above-mentioned degradation mechanisms. The demonstrated instabil.ty of SnO_(2) contrasts with the behavior of Bi2O3 GDE which is stabil.zed during CO_(2) conversion by redeposition of the dil.ted dissol.ed species as metal.ic Bi which is active for the CO_(2) reduction reaction.
