Prevalence of hypothyroidism and effect of thyroid hormone replacement therapy in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease:A population-based study

Driven by the tremendous availability of data,artificial intelligence(AI)using deep learning has emerged as a breakthrough computer technology in the last few decades and has recently been acknowledged by the Task Force on AI as a golden opportunity for *** its ability to understand,learn from and build on non-linear relationships,AI aims to individualize medical care in an attempt to save time,cost,effort and improve patient’s *** has been applied in multiple medical fields with substantial progress made in gastroenterology mainly to facilitate accurate detection of pathology in different disease processes,among which inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)seems to drag significant attention,specifically by interpreting imaging studies,endoscopic images and videos and-to a lesser extent-disease ***,models have been built to predict IBD occurrence,flare ups,persistence of histological inflammation,disease-related structural abnormalities as well as disease *** this article,we will review the applications of AI in IBD in the present medical literature at multiple points of IBD timeline,starting from disease prediction via genomic assessment,diagnostic phase via interpretation of radiological studies and AI-assisted endoscopy,and the role of AI in the evaluation of therapy response and prognosis of IBD patients.

Developing three-dimensional groundwater flow modeling for the Erbil Basin using Groundwater Modeling System (GMS)

This study presents the development of a comprehensive three-dimensional groundwater flow model for the Erbil Basin utilizing the Groundwater Modeling System(GMS).The Erbil Basin,situated in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq,is a vital water resource area facing increasing water demands and environ-mental *** three-dimensional nature of the groundwater flow system is crucial for accurately understanding and managing water resources in the *** modeling process involved data collection,geological and hydrogeological characterization,conceptual model development,and numerical simulation using GMS software MODFLOW 2000 *** parameters such as hydraulic conductivity,recharge rates,and boundary conditions were integrated into the model to represent the complex hydrogeo-logical conditions of the *** calibration was performed by comparing simulated groundwater levels with observed data from monitoring wells across the basin,using the automatic calibration method of automated Parameter Estimation(PEST).Pilot points were applied to adjust the hydraulic conductivity in the model area *** analysis was conducted to assess the influence of key parameters on model predictions and to identify areas of *** developed three-dimensional groundwater flow model provides valuable insights into the dynamics of groundwater flow,recharge-discharge mechanisms,and potential impacts of future scenarios such as climate change and water resource management *** serves as a useful tool for decision-makers,water resource managers,and researchers to evaluate differ-ent management scenarios and formulate sustainable groundwater management policies for the Erbil *** conclusion,this study demonstrates the effectiveness of using GMS for developing three-dimensional groundwater flow models in complex hydrogeological settings like the Erbil Basin,contributing to improved understanding and management of groundwater resources in the

为探究纤维过滤介质中纤维曲率对其内部速度分布、压力损失、过滤效率的影响,通过Digimat建模软件建立曲率K分别为0、2、4、6,固体体积分数为8%,在三维空间中随机分散排列的纤维过滤介质模型,结合计算流体力学方法,基于拉格朗日离散模型和Laminar流场,利用雷诺相似准则,设置入口速度分别为0.05、0.142、0.5、1、2 m/s,平均颗粒粒径为0.25、0.5、1、1.5、2.5、4、5 mm,对微米纤维模型内部气-固两相流动情况进行数值模拟。结果表明:随着纤维曲率K由0增大至6,在入口速度为0.5 m/s时,纤维曲率对速度场分布的影响不明显,速度场的分布呈无规律性;纤维曲率对模型内部压力损失有显著影响,随着纤维曲率的提高,纤维模型内部压力损失呈线性增大;纤维过滤介质的过滤效率随纤维模型曲率的增大而提高,在入口速度为1 m/s、模型曲率K为6时,对平均粒径为5 mm的颗粒过滤效率接近90%,明显高于相同粒径下K为0时的过滤效率。

Background:Physical activity(PA)is important for cancer *** of remotely delivered interventions are needed to assist in reaching under-served non-metropolitan cancer *** objective of this study was to ascertain whether wearable technology,coupled with health coaching was effective in increasing PA in breast and colorectal cancer survivors living in regional and remote areas in ***:Cancer survivors from 5 states were randomized to intervention and control *** participants were given a Fitbit Charge 2TMand received up to 6 telephone health coaching *** participants received PA print *** assessments at baseline and 12 weeks measured moderate-to-vigorous PA(MVPA),light PA,and sedentary ***:Eighty-seven participants were recruited(age=63±11 years;74(85%)female).There was a significant net improvement in MVPA of 49.8 min/week,favoring the intervention group(95%confidence interval(95%CI):13.6-86.1,p=0.007).There was also a net increase in MVPA bouts of 39.5 min/week(95%CI:11.9-67.1,p=0.005),favoring the intervention *** groups improved light PA and sedentary behavior,but there were no between-group ***:This’s the first study to demonstrate that,when compared to standard practice(i.e.,PA education),a wearable technology intervention coupled with distance-based health coaching,improves MVPA in non-metropolitan cancer *** results display promise for the use of scalable interventions using smart wearable technology in conjunction with phone-based health coaching to foster increased PA in geographically disadvantaged cancer survivors.
