Neurodegenerative diseases are a maj.r public health challenge,mainly affecting the elderly population and compromising their cognitive,sensory,and motor ***,available therapies focus on alleviating symptoms and slowing the progression of these conditions,but they do not yet offer a definitive *** this scenario,terpenes emerge as promising natural alternatives due to their neuroprotective *** compounds can reduce the formation of protein aggregates,neutralize free radicals,and inhibit pro-inflammatory enzymes,which are crucial factors in the development of neurodegenerative *** addition,terpenes also play an important role in the regulation and remodeling of the extracellular matrix,a key target for improving neuronal *** such as linalool,pinene,and eugenol,among others,have potential therapeutic effects by modulating inflammatory and oxidative stress processes,the main factors that contribute to the progression of these *** suggest that these compounds act on signaling pathways that regulate the extracellular matrix,improving neuronal integrity and,consequently,cognitive and motor *** work aims to review the potential of terpenes in the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders,with emphasis on their ability to regulate oxidative stress and inflammation,as well as to remodel the extracellular *** interaction between these mechanisms points to the promising use of terpenes as an innovative and natural therapeutic approach to combat these diseases.

This study examines the relationship between geomagnetic indices and mortality rates from specific diseases in the Northeast (NE) and Southern (S) regions of Brazil from 1996 to 2020. Solar activity data, including the Ap and Sudden Ionospheric Disturbance (SID) indices, were sourced from the World data Center, while mortality data were obtained from the Mortality Information System (SIM-daTASUS). Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) emerged as the leading cause of mortality, with average death rates of 60.4, 56.8, and 58.3 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants in Pernambuco (PE), Rio Grande do Sul (RS), and Paraná (PR), respectively. Temporal analysis revealed a consistent upward trend in AMI mortality across most states, except for Santa Catarina (SC). Seasonal patterns identified through Principal Component Analysis (PCA) demonstrated that geomagnetic and climatic indices influenced mortality differently across regions and seasons. The Ap geomagnetic index was strongly correlated with higher AMI mortality rates during summer, while the SID index showed greater relevance during winter. A dipole phenomenon was observed, with AMI deaths increasing alongside geomagnetic activity in the S region but showing an inverse relationship in the NE region. These findings highlight the significant influence of geomagnetic variations on public health, particularly cardiovascular mortality. The study underscores the need for further research into the biological mechanisms underlying these associations and recommends the development of early warning systems and targeted preventive measures to mitigate the potential health impacts of geomagnetic disturbances, especially for vulnerable populations.

Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) infection is present in more than half the world's population and has been associated with several gastric disorders, such as gastritis, peptic ulceration, and gastric *** clinical outcome of this infection depends on host and bacterial factors where H. pylori virulence genes seem to play a relevant role. Studies of cag A and vac A genes established that they were determining factors in gastric pathogenesis. However, there are gastric cancer cases that are cag A-negative. Several other virulence genes have been searched for, but these genes remain less well known that cag A and vac A. Thus, this review aimed to establish which genes have been suggested as potentially relevant virulence factors for H. pylori-associated gastrointestinal diseases. We focused on the cag-pathogenicity island, genes with adherence and motility functions, and ice A based on the relevance shown in several studies in the literature.

Throughout its lifetime,high-voltage circuit breaker(HVCB)contacts suffer from inevitable degradation processes,especially during the formation of electric *** degraded contacts can reduce the current interruption capacity and increase the chances of operational faults,which might lead to considerable financial ***,the use of efficient evaluating techniques is a key factor to achieve systems *** dynamic resistance measurement(DRM)is a technique that can be used to evaluate the degradation level of HVCB'*** stands out from the usual technique,static resistance measurement,by allowing the assessment of both the main contacts and the arcing contacts(ACs).Usually,the mean resistance or the area under the DRM curve is used to estimate the AC ***,DRM is a non-standardised technique and there are no specified parameters to evaluate the real wear ***,an analysis of alternative parameters extractible from the DRM technique is presented in this study,such as amplitude and variance of the DRM *** results attest the possible use of more than one parameter for the continuous evaluation of HVCB ACs,characterising the DRM as a more complete and precise diagnosis tool.

The aim of this study was to characterize tinctures and microcapsules loaded with an ethanol extract of red propolis through chemical, physicochemical and microbiological assays in order to establish quality control tools for nutraceutical preparations of red propolis. The markers(isoflavonoids, chalcones, pterocarpans,flavones, phenolic acids, terpenes and guttiferones) present in the tinctures A and B were identified and confirmed using LC/ESI/FTMS/Orbitrap. Four compositions(A, B, C and D) were prepared to contain B tincture of the red propolis with some pharmaceutical excipients and submitted to two drying processes, i. ***-drying and freeze-drying to obtain microcapsules loaded with the red propolis extract. The tinctures and microcapsules of the red propolis were submitted to the total flavonoid content and antioxidant activity *** antibacterial activity and minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) were tested using Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25293 and Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 strains. The tinctures and microcapsules presented high flavonoid quantities from 20.50 to 40.79 mg/100 mg of the microcapsules. The antioxidant activity and IC50 were determined for the tinctures A and B(IC50: 6.95 μg/m L and 7.48 μg/m L), the spray-dried microcapsules(IC50: 8.89–15.63 μg/m L) and the freeze-dried microcapsules(IC50: 11.83–23.36 μg/m L). The tinctures and microcapsules were proved to be bioactive against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria with inhibition halos superior to 10 mm at concentration of 200 μg/m L and MIC values of 135.87–271.74 μg/m L using gram-positive strain and 271.74–543.48 μg/m L using gram-negative strain. The tinctures and microcapsules of the red propolis have a potential application for nutraceutical products.

Single crystals of Nd：La3Ga5SiO14 （NLGS） and Nd：La3Ga5.5Ta0.5O14 （NLGT） were grown by Czochralski method. Both crystals exhibit a langasite structure （space group D32 （P321） with Z = 1）, whose general formula is A3BC2D3O14, where A, B, C and D represent the dodecahedral, octahedral and tetrahedral positions, respectively. The adding of low content of Nd does not change the crystal structure. Although they are isostructural, the distribution of atoms among the symmetric sites is different. While NLGT exhibits a perfect orderly structure, NLGS exhibits an intrinsically disordered structure due to the random distribution of Ga and Si atoms at the C3（2） symmetry sites. To understand what changes occur in the phonon distribution when Ta replaces Si, we recorded and analyzed room temperature polarized Raman spectra. We observe 8A1＋18E modes for NLGS and 10A1＋13E for NLGT crystals. When Si is substituted by Ta, we observe that the wavenumber of some modes related to vibrations involving Ga and O atoms decreases. This agrees with the fact that the Ga–O bonds are shorter in NLGS than in NLGT.
