Post-operative protein supplem.ntation following orthopaedic surgery: A system.tic review

Rice is one of the m.st widely cultivated cereals in the world, and its arom. is increasingly in dem.nd. With the advancem.nt of research, a m.jor rice flavor gene has been identified on rice chrom.som. 8. It encodes non-functional betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase leading to the accum.lation of 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline which is the m.jor olfactory com.ound that confers the fragrant character to rice. The arom. of rice is considered a special trait of enorm.us econom.c im.ortance that determ.nes the prim. price in world trade. To satisfy the needs of the population and reduce rice im.orts into Benin, we conducted this study to identify arom.tic rice accessions grown in Benin. Seventy-two rice accessions collected across Benin were PCR am.lified with three SSR m.rkers Rm.7049, Aro 7, and Rm.223, linked to the fgr (fragrance of rice) arom. gene. m.lecular analysis revealed that 12 of the 72 accessions, nam.ly Bagou 19, Bagou 22, Tchaka 34, Foun 15, Tchaka 41, Nana 32, Kan 61, Kung 69, Kung 67, Bagou 20, Agbab 101 and Koum.55 possess the fgr gene and can be considered as arom.tic rice accessions. A sensory phenotypic test using KOH was carried out on rice accessions carrying fgr gene. Of the twelve positives, only one had the sm.ll of arom.tic rice, like the Azucena control. These results show that Benin also has arom.tic rice varieties that can be sold on national and international m.rkets.

Synthesis, Surface Characterization and Photocatalytic Activity of TiO_2 Supported on Alm.nd Shell Activated Carbon

Three types of photocatalysts were synthesized by m.tal organic chem.cal vapor deposition and im.regnation m.thods using the alm.nd shell activated carbon as support. These photocatalysts denoted by （TiO2/ASAC （V）, TiO2/ASAC （11） and TiO2/ASAC （12）） were characterized by scanning electron m.croscopy （SEm., X-ray diffraction （XRd）, Fourier transform.infrared spectroscopy （FTIR）, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy （dRS） and nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherm.. SEm.observation shows that TiO2 was deposited on activated carbon surface. XRd results confirm.that TiO2 existed in a m.xture of anatase and rutile phases. The dRS spectra show the characteristic absorption edge of TiO2 at approxim.te 380 nm.corresponding to the optical band gap of 3.26 eV. Besides, FTIR spectrum.indicated the presence of （Ti-O） groups. The specific surface area of photocatalysts decreased drastically in com.arison with the original activated carbon. The catalysts were very efficient for the photodegradation of total organic carbon （TOC） from.industrial phosphoric acid solution under UV irradiation. The kinetics of photocatalytic TOC degradation was found to follow a pseudo- first-order m.del. The prepared TiO2/ASAC showed high photoactivity for the photodegradation of TOC in the following order： TiO2/ASAC （V）〉 TiO2/ASAC （11）〉 TiO2/ASAC （12）〉 ASAC 〉 TiO2 （P25）.

The identification of jets originating from.quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an im.ortant role in various analyses perform.d at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard m.del m.asurem.nts and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the m.asurem.nt of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated lum.nosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high perform.nces in rejecting jets from.gluon over jets from.quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirem.nts on the num.er of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other com.ines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A m.thod is established to determ.ne the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsam.les defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and sim.lation are provided for jets with transverse m.m.ntum.between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for m.ltiple tagger working points.

Investigation of Li-ion transport in Li7P3S11 and solid-state lithium.batteries

The high Li-ion conductivity of the Li7P3S11 sulfide-based solid electrolyte m.kes it a prom.sing candidate for all-solid-state lithium.batteries. The Li-ion transport over electrode-electrolyte and electrolyteelectrolyte interfaces, vital for the perform.nce of solid-state batteries, is investigated by im.edance spectroscopy and solid-state Nm. experim.nts. An all-solid-state Li-ion battery is assem.led with the Li7P3S11 electrolyte, nano-Li2S cathode and Li-In foil anode, showing a relatively large initial discharge capacity of 1139.5 m.Ah/g at a current density of 0.064 m.A/cm. 2 retaining 850.0 m.Ah/g after 30 cycles. Electrochem.cal im.edance spectroscopy suggests that the decrease in capacity over cycling is due to the increased interfacial resistance between the electrode and the electrolyte. 1d exchange ^7Li Nm. quantifies the interfacial Li-ion transport between the uncycled electrode and the electrolyte, resulting in a diffusion coefficient of 1.70(3) ×10^-14cm.2/s at 333 K and an energy barrier of 0.132 e V for the Li-ion transport between Li2S cathode and Li7P3S11 electrolyte. This indicates that the barrier for Li-ion transport over the electrode-electrolyte interface is sm.ll. However, the sm.ll diffusion coefficient for Li-ion diffusion between the Li2S and the Li7P3S11 suggests that these contact interfaces between electrode and electrolyte are relatively scarce, challenging the perform.nce of these solid-state batteries.

A wavelet-based super-resolution m.thod for m.lti-slice m.I

In m.lti-slice m.gnetic resonance im.ging (m.I), the resolution in the slice direction is usually reduced to allow faster acquisition tim.s and to reduce the am.unt of noise in each 2d slice. To address this issue, a num.er of super resolution (SR) m.thods have been proposed to im.rove the resolution of 3d m.I volum.s. m.st of the m.thods involve the use of prior m.dels of the m.I data as regularization term. in an ill-conditioned inverse problem. The use of user-defined param.ters produces better results for these approaches but an inappropriate choice m.y reduce the overall perform.nce of the algorithm. In this paper, we present a wavelet dom.in SR m.thod which uses a Gaussian scale m.xture (GSm. m.del in a sparseness constraint to regularize the ill-posed SR inverse problem. The proposed approach also m.kes use of an extension of the dual Tree Com.lex Wavelet Transform.to provide the ability to analyze the wavelet coefficients with sub-level precision. Our results show that the 3d m.I volum.s reconstructed using this approach have quality superior to volum.s produced by the best previously proposed approaches.

Background: Angiotensin(Ang) II m.y enhance the influence of the sym.athetic nervous system.at various levels by facilitating norepinephrine(NE) release. We investigated whether such an interaction is evident in the hum.n heart and whether it has an im.act on left ventricular(LV) structure. m.thods and results: Ang I and Ang II concentrations were determ.ned in arterial and coronary sinus(CS) plasm. sam.les in a group of norm.tensive(n=10) and hypertensive(n=18) subjects. Total system.c and cardiac NE spillover was m.asured using isotope dilution m.thodology and LV structure by echocardiography. Arterial and CS concentrations of Ang I and Ang II were sim.lar in both groups(Ang II CS, 5.8±4.0 versus 3.7±3.1 fm.l/m.; P=not significant), as was the Ang II/ Ang I ratio(CS, 0.56±0.17 versus 0.54±0.22 fm.l/fm.l; P=not significant). Total system.c(223±145 versus 374±149 ng/m.n; Pd cardiac NE spillover(11.7±6.3 versus 19.4±10.5 ng/m.n; Pd in hypertensive patients, as was LV m.ss index(LVm.)(86.7±14.7 versus 117.2±19.4 g/m.; Pm. correlated with cardiac NE spillover(r=0.47; Pdent between CS Ang II and cardiac NE spillover(r=0.001; P=not significant) or LVm.(r=-0.20; P=not significant). Arterial Ang II tended to correlate with total system.c NE spillover(r=0.34; P=0.081). When hypertensive subjects were divided into two groups with either high or low CS Ang II concentration, cardiac NE spillover and LVm. did not differ between the two groups. Conclusion: These findings suggest a growth-prom.ting effect of increased cardiac sym.athetic tone on cardiom.ocytes in hypertensive patients, but do not support the notion of a significant role of Ang II for norepinephrine release and LV hypertrophy in the hypertensive hum.n heart.

近年,阀控铅酸蓄电池已经发展成为一种应用广泛的储能装置。经过正确的设计,阀控铅酸蓄电池能够为最终用户提供以下的部分特性(即使不是全部):高电流容量;在深放电条件下(循环寿命)很好的可靠性;高比能量;高充电效率;快速的充电能力;避免过充;良好的充电稳定性(耐过热能力);在寿命期内无需加水(免维护);寿命长;工作温度宽;坚固耐用;每Wh的成本低;较高的体积比能量(Wh/L);自放电小;较高的质量比能量(Wh/kg);可在任意位置(方向)放置及使用;抗冲击振动;放电后无需立即充电。目前使用最广泛的凝胶剂-气相法二氧化硅有许多缺点,比如:污染工作环境,特别是在混浆的过程中;职业病及搬运问题;体积大不便运输,凝胶时间长(除非在非常高的浓度下)。因此,开发胶体电池中硫酸的替代性凝胶剂的需求在日益增加。纳米胶体硅能够解决以上所有这些问题,此外它还能为电池生产商降低成本。
