Effects of channelization on Fish Biomass in River Ecosystems

channel straightening in a naturally meandering river is a common historical trigger of channel incision which typically results in stream bank destabilization. Several of the larger river systems in the upland portion of the Yazoo River Basin have subjected channelization resulting in profound changes in the physical and geomorphological characteristics of these systems. Fish were sampled using electroshocking gear and hoop nets to evaluate the impact of stream bank destabilization and loss of habitat heterogeneity resulting from channelization on fish communities. While distinct differences in the fish communities were evident, only the Skuna appeared to have characteristics of a damaged system. More than 95% of the biomass was comprised of species reaching an adult length of less than 300 mm. The lotic omnivorous fishes that dominated the biomass from Skuna are often associated with smaller streams rather than rivers. Furthermore, 72% of the catch consisted of fish preferring littoral zone habitats. The shallow depth and lack of woody debris in Skuna provided a selective advantage for smaller species of fish that could use shoreline habitats as protection from the current. Based on results from the Skuna River, channel straightening that leads to channel incision, bank failure and over widening provide habitats too shallow to support a community of fishes typical of northern Mississippi riverine system. This information may be useful in making comparison of damaged riverine ecosystems and assist managers in determining impairment and success in the TMdL （Total Maximum daily Load） process.

阿司匹林在冠心病二级预防中的应用现况

目的了解中国多省市冠心病患者阿司匹林应用现况。方法以2781例既往曾确诊患有冠心病的门诊患者为研究对象。2006年在中国内地31个省市自治区选择32家三级医院和32家二级医院，每家医院以研究启动时点起连续选择既往曾确诊冠心病的门诊... 详细信息

目的了解中国多省市冠心病患者阿司匹林应用现况。方法以2781例既往曾确诊患有冠心病的门诊患者为研究对象。2006年在中国内地31个省市自治区选择32家三级医院和32家二级医院，每家医院以研究启动时点起连续选择既往曾确诊冠心病的门诊患者50例。采用访谈形式收集患者信息，填写统一表格。主要分析患者阿司匹林的应用及医生处方情况。结果（1）在2781例门诊冠心病患者中，男性1914例，女性867例，年龄（65±10）岁；（2）门诊冠心病患者阿司匹林的服用率为83．6％，男性（85．1％）高于女性（80．4％，P〈0．01），随着年龄的增加，阿司匹林的服用率呈下降趋势（P〈0．05），不同省市协作医院间阿司匹林的服用率存在差异（P〈0．01），其中贵州省患者阿司匹林的服用率最低（64．2％），浙江省最高（97．8％）；（3）门诊冠心病患者阿司匹林的处方率为90．4％，总计93．0％的医生处方剂量符合《阿司匹林在动脉硬化性心血管疾病中临床应用：中国专家共识（2005）》中建议使用的剂量（75～150mg／d），不同省市协作医院医生处方剂量存在差异，个别医院1／3的处方剂量低于75mg／d；（4）女性、高龄、月收入低、既往无经皮冠状动脉介入治疗史及冠心病病程长的门诊冠心病患者，阿司匹林的服用率低。结论我国内地门诊冠心病患者阿司匹林的总服用率为83．6％，但31个省市、64家医院间差异较大；各医院医生阿司匹林处方剂量间也存在很大差异，应在冠心病二级预防中引起足够重视。

The poor gas selectivity problem has been a long-standing issue for miniaturized chemical-resistor gas *** electronic nose(e-nose)was proposed in the 1980s to tackle the selectivity issue,but it required top-down chemical functionalization processes to deposit multiple functional ***,we report a novel gas-sensing scheme using a single graphene field-effect transistor(GFET)and machine learning to realize gas selectivity under particular conditions by combining the unique properties of the GFET and e-nose *** of using multiple functional materials,the gas-sensing conductivity profiles of a GFET are recorded and decoupled into four distinctive physical properties and projected onto a feature space as 4d output vectors and classified to differentiated target gases by using machine-learning *** single-GFET approach coupled with trained pattern recognition algorithms was able to classify water,methanol,and ethanol vapors with high accuracy quantitatively when they were tested ***,the gas-sensing patterns of methanol were qualitatively distinguished from those of water vapor in a binary mixture condition,suggesting that the proposed scheme is capable of differentiating a gas from the realistic scenario of an ambient environment with background *** such,this work offers a new class of gas-sensing schemes using a single GFET without multiple functional materials toward miniaturized e-noses.

critical bone defects are considered one of the major clinical challenges in reconstructive bone *** combination of 3d printed conductive scaffolds and exogenous electrical stimulation(ES)is a potential favorable approach for bone tissue *** this study,3d conductive scaffolds made with biocompatible and biodegradable polycaprolactone(PcL)and multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWcNTs)were produced using the extrusion-based additive manufacturing to treat large calvary bone defects in *** results show that the use of PcL/MWcNTs scaffolds and ES contributes to thicker and increased bone tissue formation within the bone *** and mineralization are also significantly promoted using high concentration of MWcNTs(3 wt%)and ***,scaffolds favor the tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase(TRAP)positive cell formation,while the addition of MWcNTs seems to inhibit the osteoclastogenesis but present limited effects on the osteoclast functionalities(receptor activator of nuclear factor κβ ligand(RANKL)and osteoprotegerin(OPG)expressions).The use of ES promotes the osteoclastogenesis and RANKL expressions,showing a dominant effect in the bone remodeling *** results indicate that the combination of 3d printed conductive PcL/MWcNTs scaffold and ES is a promising strategy to treat critical bone defects and provide a cue to establish an optimal protocol to use conductive scaffolds and ES for bone tissue engineering.

This paper aims to identify the antecedents of buying behavior for secondhand clothing among millennials,as well as to determine their underlying causal *** a comprehensive literature search,a total of 18 antecedents were found,and these are categorized into three motives,namely,economic,hedonic and recreational,and *** a case study in the Philippines,a focus group discussion among experts who are active millennial secondhand clothing users and buyers were tasked to identify the antecedents they have experienced and further confirm those extracted from the *** establish the causal relationships of these antecedents,categorize them into net causes or net effects,and address the vagueness associated with the decision-making process,a fuzzy dEMATEL method is *** reveal that avoidance of conventional channels proves to be the antecedent providing the highest impact among all other ***,high quality,and fashion trend found to be the antecedents with the highest impacts received,making them the major net *** from this work hope to provide a framework among practitioners that would lead to a better understanding of millennials’buying behavior for secondhand clothing.

Objective:To evaluate antioxidant,cytotoxic,and anti-venom capacity of crude bark extracts of Alstonia parvifolia ***:Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(Gc-MS)and energy dispersive X-ray analyses were accomplished to characterize the chemical constituents of Alstonia *** characterization was evaluated using an inhibitory phospholipase A_(2)(PLA_(2))assay,dPPH,and cytotoxicity *** the constituents listed in the Gc-MS analyses,molecular docking was conducted to inspect the binding energies between the chosen compounds and selected PLA_(2) ***:Gc-MS analyses showed that the Alstonia parvifolia crude extract consisted predominantly of acetylmarinobufogenin(14.89%),γ-sitosterol(10.44%),3-O-methyl-d-glucose(5.88%),3,5-dimethoxy-4-hydroxyphenylacetic acid(5.30%),(2α,5α)-17-methoxyaspidofractinin-3-one(AFM)(4.08%),and 2,3,5,6,7,8,9-heptahydro-1-phenyl-5-(p-chlorophenylimino)-1H-benzo[e][1,4]thiazepine(HPT)(1.37%).The principal elemental components of Alstonia parvifolia were ca(4.012%)and K(1.496%),as exhibited by energy dispersive X-ray *** parvifolia showed significant free radical scavenging ability(Ic_(50):0.287 mg/mL)and was non-cytotoxic to normal HdFn cells(Ic_(50)>100μg/mL).Moreover,Alstonia parvifolia was favorably cytotoxic to McF-7(Ic_(50):4.42µg/mL),followed by H69PR,HT-29,and THP-1,with Ic_(50) values of 4.94,5.07,and 6.27µg/mL,*** parvifolia also displayed notable inhibition against PLA_(2) activity of Naja philippinensis Taylor venom with Ic_(50) of(15.2±1.8)μg/*** and cluster analyses projected negative binding energies from AFM(−6.36 to−9.68 kcal/mol),HPT(−7.38 to−9.77 kcal/mol),and acetylmarinobufogenin(−7.22 to−9.59 kcal/mol).These calculations were for the particular interactions of Alstonia parvifolia constituents to PLA_(2) homologues where the utmost affinity was detected in HPT owing to the dipole interactions with amino acid ***:The bark e
