Forced Vibration of the Non-Homogeneously Pre-Stressed System Consisting of the Hollow Cylinder and Surrounding Medium

the paper deals with the study of the influence of the non-homogeneous prestresses in the system consisting of the hollow cylinder and surrounding elastic medium on the frequency response of this system caused by the time-harmonic ring load acting in the interior of the *** axisymmetric problem is considered and it is assumed.t.at in the initial state,the system is compressed in the radial direction with homogeneously distributed static forces as a result of which,non-homogeneous pre-stresses(or initial stresses)appear in *** is also assumed.t.at after these pre-stresses appear in the interior of the cylinder,the point-located(with respect to the axial coordinate directed along the cylinder’s central axis)additional time-harmonic ring load ***,it is required to determine how the pre-stresses influence the frequency response of the system to the noted additional time-harmonic *** influence,which is the non-linear effect,is studied within the scope of the so-called three-dimensional linearized equations and relations of the theory of elastic waves in pre-stressed *** solution to the corresponding boundary value problems is found by employing the discrete analytical solution method and numerical results on the influence of the pre-stresses on the frequency response of the interface stresses which appear as a result of the action of the additional time-harmonic forces,are presented and *** particular,it is established.t.at the pre-stresses mentioned above cause to decrease the magnitude of the interface dynamic stresses appearing as a result of the additional time-harmonic loading.

EFFECt OF Si CONtENt ON ORdERING dEGREE ANd ELECtROMAGNEtIC CHARACtERIStICS IN FeSiAl ALLOYS

FeSiAl alloys ribbons synthesized by melt-quench were annealed in vacuum at 873 K for 60 rain. the flaky powders were prepared by milling the annealed ribbons for 70 h. After milling, the powders were heat treated at 573 K for 90 rain. the ordering degree of the powders lattice structure was analyzed by X-ray diffraction （XRd）. the measurement of specific saturation magnetization was carried out by vibrating samples magnetometer （VSM）. Complex permittivity and complex permeability in the frequency band of 0.5-18 GHz were measured with the vector network analyzer. the ordering degree of the superlattice structure increased from 0.2＇7 to 0.49. Complex permittivity and complex permeability decreased with increasing Si content. After ordering, the specific saturation magnetization decreased from 134.2 to 85.0 ***-1. For use in anti-EMI material, the total contents of Si and Al in FeSiAl alloys should be controlled at a low level.

Experimental validation of a new morphing trailing edge system using Price-Pa?doussis wind tunnel tests

this paper presents the design and manufacturing of a new morphing wing system carried out at the Laboratory of Applied Research in Active Controls, Avionics and AeroServoElasticity(LARCASE) at the EtS in Montréal. this first version of a morphing wing allows the deformation of its trailing edge, denote by Morphing trailing Edge(MtE). In order to characterize the technical impact of this deformation, we compare its performance with that of a rigid aileron by testing in the LARCASE’s price-Pa?doussis subsonic wind tunnel. the first set of results shows that it is possible to replace an aileron by a MtE on a wing, as an improvement was observed for the MtE aerodynamic performances with respect to the aileron aerodynamic *** improvement consisted in the fact that the drag coefficient was smaller, and the lift-to-drag ratio was higher for the same lift coefficient.

this paper proposes a new deep Feed-forward Neural Network(dFNN)approach for damage detection in functionally graded carbon nanotube-reinforced composite(FG-CNtRC)*** the proposed approach,the dFNN model is developed based on a data set containing 20000 samples of damage scenarios,obtained via finite element(FE)simulation,of the FG-CNtRC *** elemental modal kinetic energy(MKE)values,calculated from natural frequencies and.t.anslational nodal displacements of the structures,are utilized as input of the dFNN model while the damage locations and corresponding severities are considered as *** state-of-the art Exponential Linear Units(ELU)activation function and the Adamax algorithm are employed to train the dFNN ***,in order to enhance the performance of the dFNN model,the mini-batch and early-stopping techniques are applied to the training process.A trial-and-error procedure is implemented to determine suitable parameters of the network such as the number of hidden layers and the number of neurons in each *** accuracy and capability of the proposed dFNN model are illustrated through two distinct configurations of the CNt-fibers constituting the FG-CNtRC plates including uniform distribution(Ud)and functionally graded-V distribution(FG-Vd).Furthermore,the performance and stability of the dFNN model with the consideration of noise effects on the input data are also *** results indicate that the proposed dFNN model is able to give sufficiently accurate damage detection outcomes for the FG-CNtRC plates for both cases of noise-free and noise-influenced data.

Effect of environmental factors on the effectiveness of ammoniated bagasse in wicking oil from contaminated wetlands

Ammoniated bagasse is a plant-derived organic sorbent that can be used for capturing oil and for supplying slow-release nutrients to oil-degrading microorganisms. We investigated the oil-wicking behavior of this sorbent under various conditions for its effectiveness in remediating oil-contaminated wetlands. Abiotic microcosms simulating a wetland environment were used to assess the influence of sand particle sizes （20x30 and 60x80 U.S. mesh）, degrees of oil saturation （25% and 75%）, water table levels （on top of the clean sand layer, oiled-sand layer, and sorbent layer）, and the presence of sorbent. Results indicated.t.at oil wicking favors higher oil contamination, larger sand particle size, and low water coverage. Water coverage was the predominant factor limiting the effectiveness of sorbent. the most plausible explanation for this limitation was that sorbent captured more water than oil at higher water coverage.

A Study of the Weak Shock Wave Propagating over a Porous Wall/Cavity System

the present computational study addresses the attenuation of the shock wave propagating in a duct, using a porous wall/cavity system. In the present study, a weak shock wave propagating over the porous wall/cavity system is investigated with computational fluid dynamics. A total variation diminishing scheme is employed to solve the unsteady, two-dimensional, compressible, Navier-Stokes equations. the Mach number of an initial shock wave is changed in the range from 1.02 to 1.12. Several different types of porous wall/cavity systems are tested to investigate the passive control effects. the results show that wall pressure strongly fluctuates due to diffraction and reflection processes of the shock waves behind the incident shock wave. From the results, it is understood.t.at for effective alleviation of tunnel impulse waves, the length of the perforated region should be sufficiently long.

Impact of pre- and peri-operative risk factors on length of stay and hospital readmission following minimally-invasive partial nephrectomy

the effects of cold work produced by peening processes in residual stress relaxation under elevated temperatures were *** types of peening processes namely shot peening and laser peening were used to generate different amount of cold work and residual stresses in the *** of residual stress induced by cold working were carried out using X-ray diffraction coupled with electrochemical polishing method to measure the variation of residual stress with *** stresses in shot peened samples were observed to relax more rapidly than that of laser peened ones when subjected to thermal *** data collected from the experimental investigation was then used to build a correlation function to model the effects of cold work on residual stress relaxation.A parameter describing cold work’s contribution to stress relaxation is introduced into the well-known Zener-WertAvrami(ZWA)*** model was validated against experimental measurements and showed good agreement in both shot peened and laser peened samples.
