Effects of a school-based karate intervention on academic achievement,psychosocial functioning,and physical fitness:A multi-country cluster randomized controlled trial

Purpose:To examine the effects of a school-based karate intervention on academic achievement,psychosocial functioning,and physical fitness in children aged 7-8 ***:Twenty schools in 5 different European countries(2 second-grade classrooms per school)participated in a cluster randomized controlled trial(Sport at School trial).Participants were assigned to either a control group,which continued with their habitual physical education lessons,or to an intervention group,which replaced these lessons with a 1-year karate intervention(Karate Mind and Movement program).A total of 721 children(344 girls and 377 boys,7.4±0.5 years old,mean±Sd)completed the study,of which 333 and 388 were assigned to the control group and intervention group,*** included academic performance(average grade),psychosocial functioning(Strengths and difficulties Questionnaire for parents),and different markers of physical fitness(cardiorespiratory fitness,balance,and flexibility).Results:The intervention provided small but significant benefits compared to the control group for academic achievement(d=0.16;p=0.003),conduct problems(d=-0.28;p=0.003),cardiorespiratory fitness(d=0.36;pd balance(d=0.24;p=0.015).There was a trend towards significant benefits for flexibility(d=0.24;p=0.056).No significant benefits were observed for other variables,including psychosocial difficulties,emotional symptoms,hyperactivity/inattention,peer problems,or prosocial behaviour(all p>0.05).Conclusion:A 1-year school-based karate intervention was effective in improving academic achievement,conduct problems,and physical fitness in primary school *** results support the inclusion of karate during physical education lessons.

目的在重症监护病房(IntensiveCareUnit,ICU),护土难免会遇到需要限制治疗努力(limiting therapeutie efort,LTE)的患者,尽管多数护士还缺乏为这些临终患者及其家庭提供支持的准备。本综述旨在描述ICU护士在LTE中需要具备的能力。方法对2010年--2023年发表的文献进行综述。系统检索了5个数据库:Medline、Wiley Online Library、SciELO、Sciencedirect和Web of Science。使用关键评估项目工具西班牙语版(Critical Appraisal Skills Programme in Spanish,CASPe)作为评判性阅读工具。使用牛津循证医学中心(Center for Evidence-Based Medicine.,CEBM)评估工具确定证据级别和推荐强度。结果共纳入25篇文献。ICU护士LTE护理的能力包括对患者的直接护理、以家庭为中心的护理以及护士在团队中的作用。该综述确定了3个类别的能力:作为患者、家庭与跨学科团队之间维护者的能力,在LTE方面的决策能力,在患者生命末期治疗和护理干预的能力。结论ICU护士在LTE方面需要具备相应的能力,这对患者的生活质量死亡尊严以及患者家庭应对悲伤的全面支持至关重要。

Characteristic analysis of CO_2 switching arcs under a dC current

The current interruption capability of a gas, when used in high voltage gas-blast circuit breakers,depends not only on its material properties but also the flow field since turbulence plays a dominant role in arc cooling during the interruption process. Based on available experimental results, a study of CO2 switching arcs under a dC（direct current） current in the model circuit breaker has been conducted to calibrate CO2 arc model and to analyse its electric and thermal property. Through detailed analysis of the results mechanisms responsible for the temperature distribution are identified and the domain energy transportation process of different region discussed. The present work provides significant coefficients for CO2 switching arc simulation and gives a better understanding of CO2 arc burning mechanisms.

Landslides at Qingjiang River in the downstream Area of Shuibuya dam Site, China

To enhance the general knowledge of landslides in China, the dAAd （German Academic Exchange Service） is financing an investigative project. As part of this project, at the Qingjiang （清江） River, a 10 km^2 area downstream of the Shuibuya （水布垭） dam site was geologically and geotechnicaUy mapped to gather information concerning landslides and their correlation to lithology, slope angles and texture. The geological mapping contained the characterization of the lithological units. The characterization of the shape of landslides and the classification of rocks into units with similar geotechnical behavior is contained in the geotechnical map. Samples were taken and investigated using X-ray diffraction to identify the clay minerals and geotechnical tests to determine the effective shear angle and cohesion of rocks and soils. Geotechnical mapping showed a close connection between lithology, slope angle and texture concerning the occurrence of landslides. Most landslides occur on the northern bank of the Qingjiang River where the dip angle of the bedding is nearly parallel to the slope, resulting in potential and effective slide planes. On the southern bank only sporadic and small landslides occur because the bedding is antipodal to the slope angle. This pilot work is a base for further and more detailed investigations in this area.

Photoluminescence from Silicon Nanocrystals in Encapsulating Materials

Naturally oxidized freestanding silicon nanocrystals （Si NCs） are incorporated in commonly used encapsulating materials to explore the photoluminescent application of Si NCs in device structures such as solid-state lighting light-emitting diodes （LEds） and solar cells. The quantum yield of Si NCs before the incorporation has reached about 45% at the excitation wavelength of 370 nm without any special surface modification. It is found that medium Ioadings, e.g., 5 wt% of Si NCs in encapsulating materials help to obtain high external quantum efficiency （EQE） of the mixtures of Si NCs and encapsulating materials. The curing of encapsulating materials significantly reduces EQE. Among all the encapsulating materials investigated in this work, silicone- OE6551 enables the highest EQE （21% at excitation wavelength λex = 370 nm） after curing. Based on current findings, we have discussed the continuous efforts to advance the photoluminescent application of Si NCs.

A strong and ductile NiCoCr-based medium-entropy alloy strengthened by coherent nanoparticles with superb thermal-stability

In this work,we designed a novel NiCoCr-based medium-entropy alloy(MEA)strengthened by coher-ent L12-nanoparticles,i.e.,(NiCoCr)92 Al 6 Ta 2(at.%).The strengthening and deformation mechanisms of the material and the coarsening kinetics of the coherent precipitates were systematically *** results indicated that giant precipitation hardening and its synergy with other strengthening contributors confer on the aged material a yield strength as high as 1.0 ***,a unique particle-features-dependent plasticity mechanism was revealed in this *** is,the alloy with a lower volume frac-tion,denser distribution,and finer particles mainly deformed by dislocation planar slip,otherwise,stack-faults-mediated plasticity was favored,rationalized by the cooperative/competitive effect of stack-fault energy,spatial confinement,and applied ***,the coarsening behavior of precipitate fol-lowed a modified Lifshitz-Slyozov-Wagner(LSW)model,and the nanoparticles displayed remarkably su-perior thermal stability compared to most traditional superalloys and reported multicomponent *** superb coarsening resistance of precipitate originated from the coupled effect of intrinsic sluggish diffusion in multi-principal alloys and the dual-roles of Ta species as a precipitate *** work provides a new pathway to develop strong-yet-ductile multicomponent alloys as promising candidates for high-temperature applications.

Characterization of squash polysaccharide and the anti-diabetic effect on type 2 diabetic rat revealed by urine metabolomics analysis

The present study reports the structural characteristics of 3 polysaccharide fractions(SPS-F1,SPS-F2 and SPS-F3)isolated and purified from ***-F1(molecular weight(Mw)=12.30 kda)and SPS-F2(Mw=19.40 kda)were likely to contain HG and RG-I domain of pectic polysaccharide,***-F2(Mw=270.4 kda)was mainly composed of rhamnose,galactose and *** treatment with SPS decreased body weight gain,glucose and TG levels in type 2 diabetes ***,25 differential metabolites were identified based on urinary metabolomics analysis,which are crucial to the anti-diabetic effect of *** regulation of nicotinamide N-oxide,histamine,cis-aconitate,citrate,L-malic acid,3-(3-hydroxyphenyl)propanoic acid and N-acetyl-L-aspartic acid were mainly associated with energy metabolism,gut microbiota and *** of surface plasmon resonance revealed the binding kinetics with galectin-3(Gal-3)and fibroblast growth factor 2(FGF2).The K_(d)values of SPS-F2 and SPS-F3 to Gal-3 were 4.97×10^(-3)and 1.48×10^(-3)mol/L,indicating a weak binding *** 3 fractions showed moderate binding to FGF2 and the affinity was SPS-F3>SPS-F2>***,the metabolomics and SPR approach were proved to be a promising tool in exploring the anti-diabetes effects of SPS and provided a deep understanding of the mechanisms.

Averaging analyses for spacecraft orbital motions around asteroids

This paper summarizes a few cases of spacecraft orbital motion around asteroid for which averaging method can be applied, i.e., when central body rotates slowly, fast, and when a spacecraft is near to the resonant orbits between the spacecraft mean motion and the central body＇s rotation. Averaging conditions for these cases are given. As a major extension, a few classes of near resonant orbits are analyzed by the averaging method. Then some resulted conclusions of these averaging analyses are applied to understand the stabil- ity regions in a numerical experiment. Some stability conclu- sions are obtained. As a typical example, it is shown in detail that near circular 1 ： 2 resonant orbit is always unstable.
