Objective: To reach the recovery and identification of antioxidant polyphenolic compounds from Nephelium lappaceum L.(Mexican variety) husk using ultrasound-assisted extraction and liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry as well as the in vitro antioxidant activity. Methods: Rambutan husk extracts were obtained by ultrasound-assisted extraction, mass/volume ratio, water/ethanol percentage and extraction time were evaluated. Once the best extraction condition of polyphenolic compounds was defined, a polyphenolic fraction was recovered using Ambetlite XAD-16. The total content of antioxidant polyphenolic compounds was determined by summation of the total hydrolysable polyphenol and total condensed polyphenol contents. Recovered compounds were identified by FTIR(ATR) spectroscopy and HPLC/ESI/MS. The antioxidant activity was carried out by ABTS, DPPH and lipid oxidation inhibition in vitro methods. Results: In Mexican variety rambutan husk, the total polyphenolic content was 487.67 mg/g, after ultrasound-assisted extraction. According to the HPLC/ESI/MS analysis 12 antioxidant polyphenolic compounds were identified, mostly ellagitannins such as geraniin, corilagin and ellagic acid. The antioxidant activity determined by ABTS, DPPH and lipid oxidation inhibition methods was demonstrated. The main functional groups of the identified compounds were determined by FTIR analysis. Conclusions: It was demonstrated that ultrasound-assisted extraction was effective and allowed the extraction and recovery of antioxidant polyphenolic compounds. Furthermore Mexican variety rambutan husk is an important source for recovering polyphenolic compounds with antioxidant activity, these compounds have potential application for the treatment/prevention of various diseases related to cancer and pathogenic microorganisms.

The objectives of this research work were to evaluate the effect of in vitro gastrointestinal digestion (GIT) on melon peel juice (MPJ) powder from fruit processing industry by-products,considering (i) the recovery and accessibility indexes,(ii) the changes on antioxidant activity,and (iii) the prebiotic *** exposition to GIT conditions a decrease on the total phenolic content (TPC = 65.31%) and antioxidant activity by ABTS = 39.77% and DPPH = 45.91% were ***,these both parameters exhibited stable accessibility,accounting with 81.89%,76.55%,and 54.07% for TPC,ABTS and DPPH,*** gastrointestinal digestion,the non-absorbed fraction exhibited a positive impact on the growth of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus strains,possibly associated with the high content of simple sugar (glucose and fructose).This fraction also showed to be safe on Caco-2 intestinal *** findings suggest that MPJ might be used as a potential food functional ingredient.

Biosensor development has recently advanced as a result of their strong and indisputable uses as analytical methods in a variety of sectors,including medicine,food industry,environmental monitoring,metabolism,agriculture,military,and *** popularity of biosensors as devices for a variety of applications may be ascribed to their distinct advantages of fast or rapid analysis,high sensitivity,minimal sample demand and preparation,and no need for the specific skill of operation that traditional analytical procedures *** attempted to update earlier studies in this study by incorporating other materials that have been in use but have received less attention,such as carbon nano-onions(CNOs),metal-organic frameworks(MOFs),and biopolymers for biosensor manufacturing and design based on their unique *** assessment also took into account applicable applications in many *** considerable progress has been made in the application of biosensors,there is still a need for research development and enhancement,particularly in transforming most of the laboratory experiments that have already been published into portable on-site and implementable in the public domains.

Objective: To determinate the recovery of total polyphenolic compounds content,in vitro antioxidant activity and HPLC/ESI/MS characterization of extract from Nephelium lappaceum L.(Mexican rambutan).Methods: The rambutan husk extract was obtained by aqueous extraction and a polyphenolic fraction was recovered using Amberlite XAD-16. The total polyphenolic compounds content was determined by the Folin Ciocalteu and butanol-HCI *** vitro antioxidant activity was performed using ABTS and ferric reducing antioxidant power ***: Mexican rambutan husk showed a total polyphenolic content of 582 mg/g and an evident antioxidant activity by ABTS and ferric reducing antioxidant power *** HPLC/ESI/MS assay allowed the identification of 13 compounds, most of which belong to ellagitannins. The use of mobile laser scanning to survey forest ecosystems is a promising,scalable technology to describe forest 3D structures at high *** confirm the con-sistency in the retrieval of forest structural parameters using hand-held laser scanning(HLS),before operationalizing the method,confirming the data is *** analyzed the per-formance of tree-level mapping based on HLS under differ-ent phenology conditions on a mixed forest in western Spain comprising Pinus pinaster and two deciduous species,Alnus glutinosa and Quercus *** area was surveyed twice during the growing season(July 2022)and once in the deciduous season(February 2022)using several scan-ning *** reference data(418 trees,15 snags)was used to calibrate the HLS data and to assess the influence of phenology when converting 3D data into tree-level attrib-utes(DBH,height and volume).The HLS-based workflow was robust at isolating tree positions and recognizing stems despite changes in ***-six percent of all pairs matched below 65 *** DBH,phenology barely altered *** observed a strong agreement when comparing HLS-based tree height *** values exceeded 2 m when comparing height measurements,confirming height data should be carefully used as reference in remote sensing-based inventories,especially for deciduous *** volume was more precise for pines(r=0.95,and rela-tive RMSE=21.3–23.8%)compared to deciduous species(r=0.91–0.96,and relative RMSE=27.3–30.5%).HLS data and the forest structural complexity tool performed remark-ably,especially in tree positioning considering mixed forests and mixed phenology conditions.

Euplatypus segnis is an insect pest of economic importance in pecan (Carya illinoensis) trees grown at Parras, General Cepeda and Torreón Coahuila, Mexico. The objectives in this study-were to identify the fungal strains associated to ambrosia borer body and diseased pecan wood and determine their pathogenicity. The results showed that the associated fungi to Euplatypus segnis and damaging the pecan wood were identified as: Helminthosporium sp., Aspergillus sp., Penicillium sp., Phoma sp., Ascochyta sp., Phaecylomices sp., Umbeliopsis sp., Torula sp., Fusarium solani, Alternaria alternata, Fusarum oxysporum, and Lasiodiplodia theobromae. The pathogenicity tests on healthy 3 year old pecan trees cv. western using Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium solani, Alternaria alternata and Lasiodiplodia theobromae suspension conidia shown die back tree branches after 84 days inoculation. The insect in combination with the fungal invasion eventually cause the death of trees. Additionally, the insect contributes to the spread of fungi in pecan nut orchards.

Identifying genes with prognostic significance that can act as biomarkers in solid tumors can help stratify patients and uncover novel therapy ***,our goal was to expand our previous ranking analysis of survival-associated genes in various solid tumors to include colon cancer specimens with available transcriptomic and clinical data.A Gene Expression Omnibus search was performed to identify available datasets with clinical data and raw gene expression measurements.A combined database was set up and integrated into our Kaplan-Meier plotter,making it possible to identify genes with expression changes linked to altered *** a demonstration of the utility of the platform,the most powerful genes linked to overall survival in colon cancer were identified using uni-and multivariate Cox regression *** combined colon cancer database includes 2,137 tumor samples from 17 independent *** most significant genes associated with relapse-free survival with a false discovery rate below 1%in colon cancer carcinoma were RBPMS(hazard rate[HR]=2.52),TIMP1(HR=2.44),and COL4A2(HR=2.36).The three strongest genes associated with shorter survival in stage II colon cancer include CSF1R(HR=2.86),FLNA(HR=2.88),and TPBG(HR=2.65).In summary,a new integrated database for colon cancer is presented.A colon cancer analysis subsystem was integrated into our Kaplan-Meier plotter that can be used to mine the entire database(https://***).The portal has the potential to be employed for the identification and prioritization of promising biomarkers and therapeutic target candidates in multiple solid tumors including,among others,breast,lung,ovarian,gastric,pancreatic,and colon cancers.
