An ordered nanostructure formed by epitaxial crystallization of a semicrystalline block copolymer on a substrate has been used as a patterned template for the selective deposition of thermally evaporated gold nanoparticles, resulting in the formation of structure-guiding host nanocomposites in which the ordered distribution of the guest particles is guided by the ordering of the host nanostructured block copolymer matrix. This opens new perspectives in the field of polymeric composites related to the maximum enhancement of effective physical properties and to the numerous possible applications that arise due to the presence of long-range order in the spatial distribution of functional nanoparticles.

AIM To establish a threshold value for liver fat content between healthy children and those with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) by using magnetic resonance imaging(MRI), with liver biopsy serving as a reference standard. METHODS The study was approved by the local ethics committee, and written informed consent was obtained from all participants and their legal guardians before the study began. Twenty-seven children with NAFLD underwent liver biopsy to assess the presence of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. The assessment of liver fat fraction was performed using MRI, with a high field magnet and 2D gradient-echo and multiple-echo T1-weighted sequence with low flip angle and single-voxel pointresolved 1H MR-Spectroscopy(1H-MRS), corrected for T1 and T2* decays. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was used to determine the best cutoff value. Lin coefficient test was used to evaluate thecorrelation between histology, MRS and MRI-PDFF. A Mann-Whitney U-test and multivariate analysis were performed to analyze the continuous variables. RESULTS According to MRS, the threshold value between healthy children and those with NAFLD is 6%; using MRI-PDFF, a cut-off value of 3.5% is suggested. The Lin analysis revealed a good fit between the histology and MRS as well as *** MRS is an accurate and precise method for detecting NAFLD in children.

Currently,the industry is experiencing an exponential increase in dealing with binary-based combinatorial *** this sense,metaheuristics have been a common trend in the field in order to design approaches to solve them ***,a well-known strategy consists in the use of algorithms based on discrete swarms transformed to perform in binary *** the No Free Lunch theorem,we are interested in testing the performance of the Fruit Fly Algorithm,this is a bio-inspired metaheuristic for deducing global optimization in continuous spaces,based on the foraging behavior of the fruit fly,which usually has much better sensory perception of smell and vision than any other *** the other hand,the Set Coverage Problem is a well-known NP-hard problem with many practical applications,including production line balancing,utility installation,and crew scheduling in railroad and mass transit *** this paper,we propose different binarization methods for the Fruit Fly Algorithm,using Sshaped and V-shaped transfer functions and various discretization methods to make the algorithm work in a binary search *** are motivated with this approach,because in this way we can deliver to future researchers interested in this area,a way to be able to work with continuous metaheuristics in binary *** new approach was tested on benchmark instances of the Set Coverage Problem and the computational results show that the proposed algorithm is robust enough to produce good results with low computational cost.

Soil erosion is one of the main environmental problems in the Mediterranean *** problem is becoming even more important especially in Italy,in the Apennines,where severe erosive processes occur due to the action of concentrated running *** erodibility(K-Factor)of a soil,estimated using the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation(RUSLE),is a measure of its susceptibility to erosion and depends on several soil properties such as organic matter,texture and permeability and *** assess the spatial variability of soil properties and soil erodibility in hilly agricultural areas and to investigate the relationships between soil features and landscape morphodynamics,a detailed study in Molise region(southern Italy),in a small drainange basin located along its hilly Adriatic flank,was carried *** this catchment,63 topsoil samples(A horizons)were collected and 10 soil profiles,forming a catena crossing 3 land units,were *** calculated K-Factors ranges between 0.012 and 0.048 t ha h ha-1 MJ-1 mm-1 indicating a complex spatial distribution,due to the several local pedological and geomorphological factors affecting soil *** results give clear evidence about the relationships among soil characteristics,soil erodibility and landscape morpho-dynamics(land units).Comparing the soil loss rates estimated for the study area with those reported in literature,a good correspondence can be observed only for the more stable land unit,not characterized by intense erosive *** proposed methodology is suitable to highlight areas characterized by similar morphodynamics features,and comparable soil erodibility,for a more effective spatialization of K factor.

AIM： To determine in obese children with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease （NAFLD） the accuracy of magnetic resonance imaging （MRI） in assessing liver fat concentration. METHODS： A case-control study was performed. Cases were 25 obese children with biopsy-proven NAFLD. Controls were 25 obese children matched for age and gender, without NAFLD at ultrasonography and with normal levels of aminotransferases and insulin. Hepatic fat fraction （HFF） by MRI was obtained using a modification of the dixon ***： HFF ranged from 2% to 44% [mean, 19.0% （95% CI, 15.1-27.4）] in children with NAFLD, while in the controls this value ranged from 0.08% to 4.69% [2.0% （1.3-2.5）, P 〈 0.0001]. HFF was highly correlated with histological steatosis （r = 0.883, P 〈 0.0001） in the NAFLD children. According to the histological grade of steatosis, the mean HFF was 8.7% （95% CI, 6.0-11.6） for mild, 21.6% （15.3-27.0） for moderate, and 39.7% （34.4-45.0） for severe fatty liver infiltration. With a cutoff of 4.85%, HFF had a sensitivity of 95.8% for the diagnosis of histological steato- sis ≥ 5%. All control children had HFF lower than 4.85%; thus, the specificity was 100%. Alter 12 mo, children with weight loss displayed a significant decrease in HFF. CONCLUSION： MRI is an accurate methodology for liver fat quantification in pediatric NAFLD.

The present study has been conducted to contribute,once and for all,filling the lack of structural information for the whole class of rare earth(RE)carbonates owning the tengerite-(Y)structure.A complete structural characterization,carried out by Rietveld refinement of X-ray powder diffraction(XRD)data,was comparatively performed for the first time on several hydrated RE carbonates,having the general chemical formula RE_(2)(CO_(3))_(3)·χH_(2)O,RE=Y,Gd,Tb,Dy,Ho and *** samples share the same space group and lattice parameters similar to tengerite-(Y);the structures are also closely related,consisting in all cases of a three-dimensional framework of nine-fold coordinated RE atom polyhedral,linked together by carbonate *** addition to relatively minor changes in fractional coordinates of atom sites and corresponding interatomic distances,the only perceivable difference lies in the lattice parameters affected by the ionic radius of RE^(3+).However,in the case of Er,which has the lowest cationic radius among the analyzed RE,the stabilization of tengerite structure is at its limit condition,because the carbonate groups are heavily ***,FT-IR and Raman spectra confirm the main structural features obtained by Rietveld *** observed morphology of the various samples is almost the same,being characterized by the presence of bidimensional rod-like particles grouped in agglomerates,typical of tengerite crystals,thus indicating that the crystallization mechanism occurring during the hydrothermal synthesis is the same,irrespective of the involved RE cation.

BACKGROUND Contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS)is considered a secondary examination compared to computed tomography(CT)and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)in the diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),due to the risk of misdiagnosing intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(ICC).The introduction of CEUS Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System(CEUS LI-RADS)might overcome this *** though data from the literature seems promising,its reliability in real-life context has not been well-established *** To test the accuracy of CEUS LI-RADS for correctly diagnosing HCC and ICC in *** CEUS LI-RADS class was retrospectively assigned to 511 nodules identified in 269 patients suffering from liver *** diagnostic standard for all nodules was either biopsy(102 nodules)or CT/MRI(409 nodules).Common diagnostic accuracy indexes such as sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value(PPV),and negative predictive value(NPV)were assessed for the following associations:CEUS LR-5 and HCC;CEUS LR-4 and 5 merged class and HCC;CEUS LR-M and ICC;and CEUS LR-3 and *** frequency of malignant lesions in CEUS LR-3 subgroups with different CEUS patterns was also ***-rater agreement for CEUS LI-RADS class assignment and for major CEUS pattern identification was *** CEUS LR-5 predicted HCC with a 67.6%sensitivity,97.7%specificity,and 99.3%PPV(Pdiagnosis with a 94.3%specificity and 98.8%PPV(Pdicted ICC with a 91.3%sensitivity,96.7%specificity,and 99.6%NPV(P<0.001).CEUS LR-3 predominantly included benign lesions(only 28.8%of malignancies).In this class,the hypo-hypo pattern showed a much higher rate of malignant lesions(73.3%)than the iso-iso pattern(2.6%).Inter-rater agreement between internal raters for CEUS-LR class assignment was almost perfect(n=511,k=0.94,P<0.001),while the agreement among raters from separate centres was subst

Since 2014,"Bring Your Own Data"workshops(BYODs)have been organised to inform people about the process and benefits of making resources Findable,Accessible,Interoperable,and Reusable(FAIR,and the FAIRification process).The BYOD workshops'content and format differ depending on their goal,context,and the background and needs of ***-focused BYODs educate domain experts on how to make their data FAIR to find new answers to research ***-focused BYODs promote the benefits of making data FAIR and instruct project managers and policy-makers on the characteristics of FAIRification ***-focused BYODs gather software developers and experts on FAIR to implement or improve software resources that are used to support ***,these BYODs intend to foster collaboration between different types of stakeholders involved in data management,curation,and reuse(*** experts,trainers,developers,data owners,data analysts,FAIR experts).The BYODs also serve as an opportunity to learn what kind of support for FAIRification is needed from different communities and to develop teaching materials based on practical examples and *** this paper,we detail the three different structures of the BYODs and describe examples of early BYODs related to plant breeding data,and rare disease registries and biobanks,which have shaped the structure of the *** discuss the latest insights into making BYODs more productive by leveraging our almost ten years of training experience in these workshops,including successes and encountered ***,we examine how the participants'feedback has motivated the research on FAIR,including the development of workflows and software.
