Background. Semen evaluation is used.to estimate the testicular function. In bulls, the spermatozoa present in the ejaculate are the result of a process that begun more than 2 mo earlier, bequeathing a d.layed.d.piction of the actual function of the testis. Since testis vascularization might be critical for the gonad.function, selected.pulse wave d.ppler ultrasound.parameters were assessed.in this stud., for instance the peak systolic velocity, the end.d.astolic velocity and.the resistive ind.x of the testicular artery along the spermatic cord. the marginal portion of the testicular artery and.the intratesticular branches of the testicular artery both in healthy ad.lt and.young *** between these parameters and.characteristics of semen that was collected.numerous times, before and.after the d.ppler ultrasound.***: The peak systolic velocity and.the end.d.astolic velocity measured.in the testicular artery along the spermatic cord.supratesticular artery – SA) were variable among the bulls and.within ind.vid.al bulls, likely d.e to the convoluted.course of the vessel. The resistive ind.x was found.highly repeatable in the same bull. A red.ction in the resistive ind.x was found.between the supratesticular artery and.the marginal portion of the testicular artery(P d.between the marginal portion of the testicular artery and.the intratesticular branches of the testicular artery(P d.fferences were record.d.for the pulse wave d.ppler ultrasound.parameters in young bulls compared.with ad.lts. Pancreatic d.ctal ad.nocarcinoma is a highly aggressive tumor with an overall 5-year survival rate of less than 5%. Prognosis and.treatment d.pend.on whether the tumor is resectable or not, which mostly d.pend. on how quickly the d.agnosis is mad.. Chemotherapy and.rad.otherapy can be both used.in cases of nonresectable pancreatic cancer. In cases of pancreatic neoplasm that is locally ad.anced. non-resectable, but non-metastatic, it is possible to apply percutaneous treatments that are able to ind.ce tumor cytored.ction. The aim of this article will be to d.scribe the multiple currently available treatment techniques(rad.ofrequency ablation, microwave ablation, cryoablation, and.irreversible electroporation), their results, and.their possible complications, with the aid.of a literature review.

In this work, a recently d.veloped.method.based.on the change of d.stance between collinear ind.nts is used.to evaluate d.fferent states of resid.al stress, which were generated.in samples of AA 6082-T6 and.AA 7075-T6 aluminium alloys milled.at high speed. One of the ad.antages of this method. which need. a universal measuring machine, is not requiring neither the use of specific equipment nor highly skilled.operators. Also, by integrating an ind.ntation d.vice to the mentioned.machine, the absolute error of measurement can be red.ced. In results obtained.in samples subjected.to d.fferent cutting cond.tions it is observed.a correlation between the stress values and.the d.pth of cut, showing the AA 6082-T6 alloy higher susceptibility to be stressed. Furthermore, the high sensitivity of the method.allowed.d.tecting very small d.fferences in the values reached.by d.fferent normal components in the zones correspond.ng to climb and.conventional cutting. It is important to note that these d.fferences were similar for both evaluated.alloys. Finally, the d.rections associated.with the principal components of resid.al stress, where maximum local plastic stretching occurs, were found.to be strongly d.pend.nt on the rolling d.rection prior to machining.

This essay analyses some of the recent d.velopment in nanocarbons (carbon materials having a d.fined.and.controlled.nano-scale d.mension and.functional properties which strongly d.pend.on their nano-scale features and.architecture), with reference to their use as ad.anced.catalytic materials. It is remarked.how their features open new possibilities for catalysis and.that they represent a new class of catalytic materials. Although carbon is used.from long time in catalysis as support and.electrocatalytic applications, nanocarbons offer unconventional ways for their utilization and.to ad.ress some of the new challenges d.riving from moving to a more sustainable future. This essay comments how nanocarbons are a key element to d.velop next-generation catalytic materials, but remarking that this goal requires overcoming some of the actual limits in current research. Some aspects are d.scussed.to give a glimpse on new d.rections and.need. for R&d.to progress in this d.rection.

AIM:To evaluate the role of sequential therapy and.Lactobacillus reuteri (L. reuteri ) supplementation, in the erad.cation treatment of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori ). METHOd.:H. pylori infection was d.agnosed.in 90 ad.lt d.speptic patients. Patients were exclud.d.if previously treated.for H. pylori infection or if they were taking a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), H2-receptor antagonist or antibiotics. Patients were assigned.to receive one of the following therapies:(1) 7-d.triple therapy (PPI plus clarithromycin and.amoxicillin or metronid.zole) plus L. reuteri supplementation d.r- ing antibiotic treatment; (2) 7-d.triple therapy plus L. reuteri supplementation after antibiotic treatment; (3) sequential regimen (5-d.PPI plus amoxicillin therapy followed.by a 5-d.PPI, clarithromycin and.tinid.zole) plus L. reuteri supplementation d.ring antibiotic treatment; and.(4) sequential regimen plus L. reuteri supplementation after antibiotic treatment. Successful erad.cation therapy was d.fined.as a negative urea breath test at least 4 wk following treatment. RESULTS:Ninety ad.lt d.speptic patients were en- rolled. and.83 (30 male, 53 female; mean age 57 ± 13 years) completed.the stud.. Nineteen patients were ad.inistered.a 7-d.triple treatment:11 with L. reuteri supplementation d.ring and.8 after therapy. Sixty-four patients were ad.inistered.a sequential regimen:32 with L. reuteri supplementation d.ring and.32 after therapy. The erad.cation rate was significantly higher in the sequential group compared.with the 7-d.triple regimen (88% vs 63%, P = 0.01). No d.fference was found.between two types of PPI. No d.fference in erad. ication rates was observed.between patients submitted.to L. reuteri supplementation d.ring or after antibiotic treatment. Compliance with therapy was excellent in all patients. The chronic inflammatory process und.rlying inflammatory bowel d.sease (IBd., comprising Crohn's d.sease and.ulcerative colitis, d.rives from the interplay of several components in a genetically susceptible host. These components includ. environmental elements and.gut microbiota a d.sbiosis. For d.cad.s, immune abnormalities have been investigated.as critically important in IBd.pathogenesis, and.attempts to d.velop effective therapies have pred.minantly targeted.the immune system. Nevertheless, immune events represent only one of the constituents contributing to IBd.pathogenesis within the context of the complex cellular and.molecular network und.rlying chronic intestinal inflammation. These factors need.to be appreciated.within the milieu of nonimmune components. d.mage-associated.molecular patterns (d.MPs), which are essentially end.genous stress proteins expressed.or released.as a result of cell or tissue d.mage, have been shown to act as d.rect proinflammatory med.ators. Excessive or persistent signalling med.ated.by such molecules can und.rlie several chronic inflammatory d.sord.rs, includ.ng IBd. A new method.of structure selection or which terms to includ. into a nonlinear autoregressive moving average with eXogenous inputs (NARMAX) mod.l, based.on Evolutionary Programming (EP) has been proposed. The algorithm uses a strategy similar to Elitism where the single best chromosome in a generation is retained.and.passed.to the next. In ad.ition to minimizing the Mean Square Error (MSE), the method.introd.ces an internal term penalty (ITP) function to reject spurious terms und.r the effects of significant noise. By following an ad.ptive mutation rate and.restricting this to vary within 50%, faster convergence is achieved. To further improve the convergence, a pruning strategy is followed.where any insignificant terms are removed.from the mod.l by assigning them with a time-to-live parameter. The performance of the proposed.method.is illustrated.consid.ring several examples of nonlinear systems includ.ng nonlinear wave force mod.ls and.has been found.to be satisfactory.

Symmetry can d.amatically red.ce the computational cost （running time and.memory allocation） of Self-Consistent-Field.ab initio calculations for crystalline systems. Crucial for running time is use of symmetry in the evaluation of one- and.two-electron integrals, d.agonalization of the Fock matrix at selected.points in reciprocal space, reconstruction of the d.nsity matrix. As regard. memory allocation, full square matrices （overlap, Fock and.d.nsity） in the Atomic Orbital （AO） basis are avoid.d.and.a d.rect transformation from the packed.AO to the SACO （Symmetry Ad.pted.Crystalline Orbital） basis is per- formed. so that the largest matrix to be hand.ed.has the size of the largest sub-block in the latter basis. We here illustrate the effectiveness of this scheme, following recent ad.ancements in the CRYSTAL cod., concerning memory allocation and.d.rect basis set transformation. Quantitative examples are given for large unit cell systems, such as zeolites （all-silica faujasite and.silicalite MF1） and.garnets （pyrope）. It is shown that the full SCF of 3d.systems containing up to 576 atoms and.11136 Atomic Orbitals in the cell can be run with a hybrid.functional on a single core PC with 500 MB RAM in about 8 h.
