A Blood Hepatocellular Carcinoma Signature Recognizes Very Small Tumor Nodules with Metastatic Traits

Background and Aims:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)cases with small nodules are commonly treated with radi-ofrequency ablation(RFA),but the recurrence rate remains *** study aimed to establish a blood signature for identifying HCC with metastatic traits ***:Data from HCC patients treated between 2010 and 2017 were retrospectively collected.A blood signature for meta-static HCC was established based on blood levels of alpha-fetoprotein and des-γ-carboxy-prothrombin,cell-free DNA(cfDNA)mutations,and methylation changes in target genes in frozen-stored plasma samples that were collected before RFA *** HCC blood signature was validated in patients prospectively enrolled ***:Of 251 HCC patients in the retrospective study,33.9% experienced recurrence within 1 year *** HCC blood signature identified from these patients included des-γ-carboxy-prothrombin≥40mAU/mL with cfDNA mutation score,where cfDNA mutations occurred in the genes of TP53,CTNNB1,and TERT *** signature effectively predicted 1-year post-RFArecurrence of HCC with 92% specificity and 91% sensitivity in the retrospective dataset,and with 87% specificity and 76% sensitivity in the prospective dataset(n=32 patients).Among 14 cases in the prospective study with biopsy tissues available,positivity for the HCC blood signature was associated with a higher HCC tissue score and shorter distance between HCC cells and ***:This study established an HCC blood signature in pre-RFA blood that potentially reflects HCC with metastatic traits and may be valuable for predicting the disease’s early recurrence post-RFA.

In the issue of Gastroenterology published October 2018,the article by Moon et al.1 demonstrated that screening patients with cirrhosis for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)by ultrasound scan(USS),measurement of serumα-fetoprotein(AFP),each alone or in combination,was not associated with the decreased HCC-related *** this matched case control study,all the study patients were registered in detail in the *** of Veterans *** study included 238 cases who died of HCC with cirrhosis,and the same number of matched controls with cirrhosis who had been enrolled in *** of Veterans Affairs care for the 4 years before the index date and alive at the time of their matched case's *** study retrospectively collected each case's USS and AFP screening data for 4 years before the date of HCC diagnosis or the equivalent index date in *** found that there was no significant difference of frequency of routine screening between the cases and ***,the authors interpreted these results as indicating that the routine screening would not reduce cancer-related mortality.

Separation and Anti-Hantaan Virus Activity of Extracts from Alternanthera philoxcroides in vitro and in vivo

A water-soluble substance was extracted from the Chinese herb, Alternantheraphiloxcroides with hot water and alcohol. Aliquots of this initial extract were further fractionated by treatment with ether, ethyl acetate and alcohol respectively. The four extracts were assayed for anti-viral activity against three serum, Hantaan virus 114 （HV114）, HV435 and A9 strains. Results show that the four extracts are capable of inhibiting Hantaan virus propagation, of which extract No. 1 has the best efficiency. The three dosage of extract No. 1, which are used upon three Hantaan virus serum IC50, are 153, 157, 154 μg/mL. New-born mice were made to be infected with HV114 and then fed in vivo with extract No.l on the 3rd, 10th and 14th days after being infected by the virus. The treatment continued for 8 days with a dosage of 2.5 g/kg. Result shows that survival rates of mice were 75%, 50% and 0, respectively. The median time to death （MTDs） of the three groups were 37, 30, 23 days.

Objective: Liver cancer is one of the most common cancers and major cause of cancer deaths in China,which accounts for over 50% of new cases and deaths *** systematic liver cancer statistics including of projection through 2030 could provide valuable information for prevention and control strategies in China,and experience for other ***: The burden of liver cancer in China in 2014 was estimated using 339 cancer registries’ data selected from Chinese National Cancer Center(NCC).Incident cases of 22 cancer registries were applied for temporal trends from 2000 to *** burden of liver cancer through 2030 was projected using age-period-cohort ***: About 364,800 new cases of liver cancer(268,900 males and 95,900 females) occurred in China,and about 318,800 liver cancer deaths(233,500 males and 85,300 females) in *** regions of China had the highest incidence and mortality *** and mortality rates decreased by about 2.3% and 2.6% per year during the period of 2000-2014,respectively,and would decrease by more than 44% between 2014 and 2030 in *** young generation,particularly for those aged under 40 years,showed a faster down ***: Based on the analysis,incidence and mortality rates of liver cancer are expected to decrease through 2030,but the burden of liver cancer is still serious in China,especially in rural and western *** cases of liver cancer in China can be prevented through vaccination and more prevention efforts should be focused on high risk groups.

Reducing liver cancer risk beginning at birth:experiences of preventing chronic hepatitis B virus infection in China

In China, the death numbers due to primary liver cancer every year account for more than half of this disease burden worldwide. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) represents the major histological type of primary liver cancer. In the Chinese population, at least 85% HCC cases are due to chronic infection with hepatitis B virus (HBV), most of which were acquired in the perinatal period or in early life. As of January 1992, HBV immunization of newborns was introduced to the national Expended Program of Immunization of China. Prior to this program, the Qidong County in China conducted an hepatitis B intervention study, which was a population-based, cluster randomized, controlled trial of HBV vaccination in neonates. The study demonstrated that among young adults < 30 years old, neonatal HBV immunization decreased around 84% risk of HBV-related liver cancer, and 70% risk of mortality due to severe end-stage chronic liver diseases. More than 72% efficacy of neonatal vaccination against chronic HBV infection in adulthood was achieved;however, when catch-up HBV vaccination was given to children at age 10-14 years, the protection efficacy was only 21%. No difference in mortality of HBV-related liver diseases was observed among the young adults < 30 years who received and those who did not receive the catch-up HBV vaccination. These results highlight the crucial importance of HBV vaccination of neonates in reducing the liver cancer risk beginning at birth in highly HBV endemic regions. Due to large numbers of HBV-infected pregnant women with high viremia in China, clinical studies in which antiviral therapy with the nucleot(s)ide analogues was given to HBV-infected pregnant women have provided important evidence that such therapy can reduce the risk of mother-to-child HBV transmission. These clinical data based on cohort studies, randomized clinical trials, and clinical practices in the Chinese population provide important information on prevention of liver cancer, particularly

目前货车制动梁生产时采用的传统加热方法,存在易使制动梁坯料局部过热而出现魏氏组织的问题,因此设计L-B型组合式制动梁中频电源热处理系统。该系统由中频电源、感应加热器、红外线温度传感器和可编程逻辑控制器(PLC)等组成,通过工控机设置相应运行参数,PLC启动中频电源,感应加热器对制动梁坯料进行加热,红外线温度传感器检测制动梁坯料的温度,采用模糊PID(比例-积分-微分)温度控制策略增强了系统对负载变化和外界干扰的适应性,通过PID控制器控制中频电源的电压,实现对制动梁坯料加热温度的精确控制。该系统在制动梁生产线的应用情况表明:该系统能够精确地将制动梁坯料的加热温度控制在(950±10)℃的范围内;制动梁的各项技术指标均能满足生产要求。
