Herbal medicines are popular natural medicines that have been used for *** use of alternative medicines continues to expand rapidly across the *** World Health Organization suggests that quality assessment of natural medicines is essential for any therapeutic or health care applications,as their therapeutic potential varies between different geographic origins,plant species,and *** of herbal medicines based on a limited number of secondary metabolites is not an ideal *** quality should be considered based on a complete metabolic profile,as their pharmacological activity is not due to a few specific secondary metabolites but rather a larger group of bioactive compounds.A holistic and integrative approach using rapid and nondestructive analytical strategies for the screening of herbal medicines is required for robust *** this study,a rapid and effective quality assessment system for geographical traceability,species,and variety-specific authenticity of the widely used natural medicines turmeric,Ocimum,and Withania somnifera was investigated using Fourier transform near-infrared(Ft-NIR)spectroscopy-based metabolic *** different geographical origins of turmeric,five different Ocimum species,and three different varieties of roots and leaves of Withania somnifera were studied with the aid of machine learning *** good discrimination(R^(2)>0.98,Q^(2)>0.97,and accuracy=1.0)with sensitivity and specificity of 100%was achieved using this metabolic fingerprinting *** study demonstrated that Ft-NIR-based rapid metabolic fingerprinting can be used as a robust analytical method to authenticate several important medicinal herbs.

采用等时测量法对可用于食品和饲料链中兽药检测的标准品混合溶液和中间混合液进行了短期和长期稳定性研究。其中短期稳定性实验考察了混合标准曲线在–20(作为基线)、4和23℃(避光和不避光保存)条件下存储1、2、4和7 d的稳定性,而长期稳定性实验考察了中间混合液在–20、4、23℃(避光和不避光保存)和–80℃储存条件下2、4、8和12周的稳定性。结果表明,使用不含酸溶剂配制的混合标准曲线在4℃下建议储存1~2 d,中性储存条件即使在室温也可短期储存1~2 d。对于含有ß-内酰胺和头孢菌素类标准品的中间混合液在4℃和室温下储存超过1个月会损失近90%。对于含有青霉素V和G的混和标准品中间储备液,在–20℃不含酸的条件下可储存2周。其他类别的兽药标准品对长期储存条件要求较少。整体而言,兽药标准品中间混合液长期储存的最佳储存条件为–20℃。

Unusual switchable peroxidase-mimicking nanozyme for the determination of proteolytic biomarker

Detection of enzyme biomarkers originating from either bio-fluids or contaminating microorganisms is of utmost importance in clinical diagnostics and food safety. Herein, we present a simple, low-cost and easy-to-use sensing approach based on the switchable peroxidase-mimicking activity of plasmonic gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) that can catalyse for the oxidation of 3,3’,5’5-tetramethylbenzidine (tMB) for the determination of protease enzyme. the AuNP surface is modified with casein, showing dual functionalities. the first function of the coating molecule is to suppress the intrinsic peroxidase-mimicking activity of AuNPs by up to 77.1%, due to surface shielding effects. Secondly, casein also functions as recognition sites for the enzyme biomarker. In the presence of protease, the enzyme binds to and catalyses the degradation of the coating layer on the AuNP surface, resulting in the recovery of peroxidase-mimicking activity. this is shown visually in the development of a blue colored product (oxidised tMB) or spectroscopically as an increase in absorbance at 370 and 650 nm. this mechanism allows for the detection of protease at 44 ng·mL^-1 in 90 min. the nanosensor circumvents issues associated with current methods of detection in terms of ease of use, compatibility with point-of-care testing, low-cost production and short analysis time. the sensing approach has also been applied for the detection of protease spiked in ultra-heat treated (UHt) milk and synthetic human urine samples at a limit of detection of 490 and 176 ng·mL^-1, respectively, showing great potential in clinical diagnostics, food safety and quality control.

Functional recovery in penetrating neurological injury is hampered by a lack of clinical regenerative *** therapies show promise as medical materials for neural repair through immunomodulation,structural support,and delivery of therapeutic ***,a lack of facile and pathology-mimetic models for therapeutic testing is a bottleneck in neural tissue engineering *** have deployed a two-dimensional,high-density multicellular cortical brain sheet to develop a facile model of injury(macrotransection/scratch wound)in *** model encompasses the major neural cell types involved in pathological responses ***,we observed hallmark pathological responses in injury foci including cell scarring,immune cell infiltration,precursor cell migration,and shortrange axonal *** test magnetic particles to evaluate the potential of the model for biomaterial screening shows a high uptake of introduced magnetic particles by injury-activated immune cells,mimicking in vivo ***,we proved it is feasible to create reproducible traumatic injuries in the brain sheet(in multielectrode array devices in situ)characterized by focal loss of electrical spiking in injury sites,offering the potential for longer term,electrophysiology plus histology *** our knowledge,this is the first in vitro simulation of transecting injury in a two-dimensional multicellular cortical brain cell sheet,that allows for combined histological and electrophysiological readouts of damage/*** patho-mimicry and adaptability of this simplified model of brain injury could benefit the testing of biomaterial therapeutics in regenerative neurology,with the option for functional electrophysiological readouts.

Optical resonators are a powerful platform to control the spontaneous emission dynamics of excitons in solidstate nanostructures. We study a MoSe2-WSe2heterostructure that is integrated in a cryogenic open optical microcavity to gain insights into fundamental optical properties of the emergent interlayer excitons. First, we utilize a low-quality-factor planar open cavity and investigate the modification of the excitonic lifetime as on-and offresonance conditions are met with consecutive longitudinal modes.
