1 IntroductionRecent progress in molecular biology has enabled us to better understand the molecular mechanism underlying pathogenesis of human malignancy including lung cancer. Sequencing of human genome has identified many oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes,giving us a better understanding of the molecular events leading to the formation, progression, metastasis, and the development of drug resistance in human lung cancer. In addition, many signal transduction pathways have been discovered that play important roles in lung cancer. Novel strategy of anti-cancer drug development now involves the identification and development of targeted therapy that interrupts one or more than one pathways or cross-talk among different signal transduction pathways. In addition, efforts are underway that combine the traditional cytotoxic (non-targeted) agents with the biological (targeted) therapy to increase the response rate and survival in patients with lung cancer, especially advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

＜正＞LCD displays are widely used in vehicles *** placement of the display in moving vehicles is subject to many kinds of *** is disturbing and annoying when human eyes have to read and precisely identify targets subject to a certain range of frequency and magnitude of *** reading performance may be decreased and visual discomfort and fatigue may *** study tested these two hypotheses by studying the effect of different vibration conditions（vi- bration frequency,vibration amplitude,and different direction of vibration）on visual task for several different designs of vertically displayed numerical characteristics which include the font size and the number of digits on the LCD *** visual performance and fatigue were measured by the reaction time,accuracy,critical flicker fusion frequency,visual acu- ity,and subjective *** results showed that both the frequency and magnitude of vibration had significant effects on the reaction time,accuracy,and visual *** software design of the displayed materials must take the motion effect into consideration to increase the quality of the screen display.

Aim: Common treatment options for obesity include a reduced-calorie diet, increased physical activity, behavioral modification, pharmacotherapy, and surgery. Ear acupressure may also be an effective adjunct therapy. Methods: This study used a randomized controlled design to test the effectiveness of auricular acupressure for weight reduction in young, Taiwan Residents adults with a BMI ≥ 23 kg/m2. Sixty-eight participants aged 18 to 20 years were recruited from Taiwan Residents universities at the beginning of the study. After four weeks of auricular therapy, the total sample included 57 young adults. All participants met one time per week for ten minutes. The treatment group received ear acupressure treatment with Semen Vaccariae sticks on auricular acupoints while the control group had adhesive tape placed on ear acupoints, change in BMI from baseline to trial completion. Results: BMI in controls increased significantly by +0.0133 kg/m2 (P = 0.000) while the intervention group BMI decreased significantly by ?0.8022 kg/m2 (P ≤ 0.0001). Conclusions: Just four weeks of auricular acupressure by Semen Vaccariae, sticks may significantly help to decrease BMI among young adults.

为了解决实时Web图形应用中大型场景数据传输所需时间长的问题,提出一种选择性场景传输算法。通过对需要传输的模型和纹理信息的最终显示贡献进行定量分析,给出了每个对象或每个面片的视觉重要性的度量,并在此基础上设计了选择性传输场景中模型和纹理的算法,给出了基于图形硬件绘制方法的实现。原型系统的实验结果表明,该方法可以在保持用户图形质量的同时减少等待时间,并作为一个有力的工具来提升实时Web图形应用的性能。

The purpose of this study was to investigate the involvement of growth hormone in the diurnal variation of insulin sensitivity in healthy adults. Afternoon (16:00 hr) or night (23:00 hr) pretreatment with a subcutaneous injection of normal saline, human growth hormone to mimic the normal nocturnal rise in growth hormone, or octreotide to inhibit endogenous growth hormone secretion to create a state of relative nocturnal growth hormone deficiency, was given 16 hours before undergoing the modified insulin suppression test in healthy subjects. The morning and evening experiments were separated by an interval of at least 3 days. Thus, each subject was tested on six separate occasions arranged in a random order. A higher value of the steady-state plasma glucose (SSPG) is indicative of lower insulin sensitivity. Plasma glucose, serum insulin, insulin-like growth factor-1, nonesterified fatty acids (NEFA), and metabolic clearance rate of insulin (MCRI) were measured. In the normal saline and human growth hormone groups, SSPG levels were lower in the morning than in the evening. Evening SSPG levels, MCRI, and NEFA concentrations were higher in the participants treated with normal saline and growth hormone than in the octreotide group. Differences in SSPG levels between the morning and evening values were higher in the participants pretreated with normal saline and growth hormone than in those treated with octreotide. A diurnal variation in insulin sensitivity existed in healthy subjects. These results provided direct evidence that the role of growth hormone in regulating insulin sensitivity might be related to changes in the MCRI and the metabolism of NEFA in healthy subjects.

Distribution of nuclei of different ploidy levels was studied at different developmental stages in the embryonic tissue of the ovule, seed and protocorm of Phalaenopsis aphrodite subsp. formosana (Miwa) E.A. Christ. by a combination of flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy with Apo Tome Slider. Three stages of ploidy patterns were identified in the ovular tissue at different days after pollination (DAP). Firstly, between pollination and fertilization (0 to 50 DAP), 2C nuclei were dominant over 4C nuclei and resulted in low level of cycle value. Secondly, between fertilization and seed maturation (50 to 110 DAP), amount of 4C nuclei increased rapidly, maintained at a high level and then decreased gradually to a low level. Small amount of 8C nuclei was also detected at this stage. Thirdly, at seed maturation (110 to 130 DAP), 2C nuclei became dominant over 4C nuclei again and the cycle value remained at a low but significant level at this stage. After seed sowing, nuclei with ploidy levels of 2C, 4C and 8C were observed in the developing protocorms as early as at 4 DAS (days after sowing). Nuclei with high ploidy levels (8C and 16C) increased gradually until 40 DAS in this study. Significant level of cycle value at this stage of protocorm development indicated the presence of endopolyploidy. 4,6-diamido-2-phenylindol (DAPI) staining showed large and prominent nuclei in the basal portions of the mature seeds before sowing and in the developing protocorms at 20 DAS. These findings clearly demonstrate the occurrence of different distribution patterns of nuclei with different ploidy levels during ovule, seed and protocorm de-velopment in Phalaenopsis aphrodite. These observations will provide fundamental information for further studies in Phalaenopsis orchids.
