New tetraazamacrocyclic ligand with 1,4,7,10 tetrakis(4 nitrobenzyl) pendent groups (C 36 H 40 N 8O 8, M r =712.76) crystallized in the monoclinic system, P2 1/n space group with unit cell parameters: a=7.834(2), b=22.902(6), c=10\^147(3), β=106.53(2)°, V=1745(1) 3, Z=2, D c =1.356 g/cm 3, λ (Mo Kα )=0.71069; μ =0.92cm -1 , F(000)=752, T =296K. The final R and R w values are 0\^065 and 0.066, respectively. The Cu(Ⅱ), Ni(Ⅱ), Co(Ⅱ), Zn(Ⅱ) complexes with this new ligand have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV, ESI MS and molar conductance. The macrocyclic ligand molecular structure is centrosymmetrical. All complexes are in accordance with the general formula: M(L)(NO 3) 2·nH 2O (M=Co, Ni, Cu, n=2; M=Zn, n=4; L=C 36 H 40 \|N 8O 8). The central metal ions coordinate to four nitrogen atoms of azamacrocycle and two oxygen atoms of one nitrate ion. Preliminary pharmacological tests against P 388 and A 549 tumor cell lines showed that all these complexes had considerable activities in vitro.

Nano/micro-scaled CoSnx alloy powders synthesized via carbothermal reduction at 800 ℃ with different compositions were characterized for anode materials in Li-ion battery. The synthesized spherical CoSnx particles show a loose nano/micro sized particle structural characteristic, which is apparently favorable for the improvement of cycling stability. The prepared CoSn3 alloy composite electrode exhibits a low initial irreversible capacity of ca.130 mAh·g-1 and a high specific capacity of ca.440 mAh·g-1 at constant current density of 100 mA·g-1. The relatively large particle size is considered to be the main reason for the lower irreversible capacity of CoSn3 electrode.

FeO/Chitosan composite magnetic nanoparticles were prepared by a process of coprecipitation in situ for medical and pharmaceutical *** nanoparticles were characterized by FTIR,TEM,XRD and VSM,*** results indicated that the size distribution of the FeO/CS composite nanoparticles were narrow and the mean diameter is about 40 nm,the magnetic response time was 52 seconds,the strength of saturation magnetization was 3.56 emu·g.

Influence of Long Term Fertilization with Different Mineral Fertilizers and Farmyard Manure on Some Soil Chemical Properties and Crop Yields *1

A long term fertilization experiment was carried out in an experimental field in Lyczyn near Warsaw, Poland. Application ofmineral fertilizers, especially N fertilizers with and without farmyard manure accelerated the acidification process of the soil. Application of 1.6 t CaO ha -1 every four years was essential to maintenance of the soil pH KCl at 5.5～6.6 and base saturation degree above 60%. Application of 50 t farmyard manure ha -1 every 4 years, which contained 46 kg P and 240 kg K, was sufficient to maintain both the K and P fertility of the soil. Besides, it was beneficial to alleviating soil acidification. As a result of long term unbalanced fertilization, yield responses to N, P and K fertilizers increased significantly with time. The efficiency of N from farmyard manure was found to be comparable to that of N fertilizer during 1988～1991.

Peptide thioester preparation via intramolecular O-to-S acyl transfer is a recently developed method for protein chemical synthesis through Fmoc *** calculations have been carried out to study the mechanism for the formation of thioesters via O-to-S acyl *** is found that the O-to-S acyl transfer occurs via an anionic stepwise mechanism in which the cleavage of the C-O bond is the rate-limiting *** side reaction of hydrolysis also proceeds through an anionic stepwise process,and its rate-limiting step is the attack of the hydroxide ion on the carbonyl *** of the chain length between the ester O atom and the S atom can increase the energy barrier of the O-to-S acyl *** the other hand,substituents at the α-position of the ester can reduce the energy barrier.
