Efficient activation of peroxymonosulfate for catalytic degradation of organic pollutants by simultaneously using low-level cobalt ions and calcium carbonate micro-particles

An efficient catalytic system was developed to remove various organic pollutants by simultaneously using low-level cobalt ions,calcium carbonate micro-particles and peroxymonosulfate(PMS).A simple base-induced precipitation was used to successfully loaded Co-centered reactive sites onto the surface of CaCO_(3)*** optimal conditions at 25°C,10 mg/L methylene blue(MB)could be completely degraded within 10 min with 480μg/L Co^(2+),0.4 g/L CaCO_(3)microparticles(or 0.4 g/L Co@CaCO_(3))and 0.1 g/L *** MB degradation followed the pseudo first order kinetics with a rate constant of 0.583 min^(−1),being 8.3,11.5 and 53.0 times that by using Co-OH(0.07 min^(−1)),Co^(2+)(0.044 min^(−1))and CaCO_(3)(0.011 min^(−1))as the catalyst,*** was confirmed that there was a synergistic effect in the catalytic activity between Co species and the CaCO_(3)particles but the major contributor was the highly dispersed Co *** Co^(2+)-containing simulated electroplating wastewater was used as the Co^(2+)source,not only the added MB was also completely degraded within 5 min in this catalytic system,but also the coexisting heavy metal ions were substantially *** presently developed method was applied to simultaneously treat organic wastewater and heavy metals *** present method was also successfully used to efficiently degrade other organic pollutants including bisphenol A,sulfamethoxazole,rhodamine B,tetrabromobisphenol A,ofloxacin and benzoic acid.A catalytic mechanism was proposed for the PMS activation by Co@CaCO_(3).The surface of CaCO_(3)particles favors the adsorption of Co^(2+).More importantly,the surface of CaCO_(3)particles provides plentiful surface-OH and-CO_(3)^(2+),and these surface groups complex with Co^(2+)to producemore catalytically active species such as surface[CoOH]^(−),resulting in rapid Co^(2+)/Co^(3+)cycling and electron *** interactions cause the observed synergistic effect between Co species and Ca

An Online Exploratory Maximum Likelihood Estimation Approach to Adaptive Kalman Filtering

Over the past few decades, numerous adaptive Kalman filters(AKFs) have been proposed. However, achieving online estimation with both high estimation accuracy and fast convergence speed is challenging, especially when both the process noise and measurement noise covariance matrices are relatively inaccurate. Maximum likelihood estimation(MLE) possesses the potential to achieve this goal, since its theoretical accuracy is guaranteed by asymptotic optimality and the convergence speed is fast due to weak dependence on accurate state ***, the maximum likelihood cost function is so intricate that the existing MLE methods can only simply ignore all historical measurement information to achieve online estimation,which cannot adequately realize the potential of MLE. In order to design online MLE-based AKFs with high estimation accuracy and fast convergence speed, an online exploratory MLE approach is proposed, based on which a mini-batch coordinate descent noise covariance matrix estimation framework is developed. In this framework, the maximum likelihood cost function is simplified for online estimation with fewer and simpler terms which are selected in a mini-batch and calculated with a backtracking method. This maximum likelihood cost function is sidestepped and solved by exploring possible estimated noise covariance matrices adaptively while the historical measurement information is adequately utilized. Furthermore, four specific algorithms are derived under this framework to meet different practical requirements in terms of convergence speed, estimation accuracy,and calculation load. Abundant simulations and experiments are carried out to verify the validity and superiority of the proposed algorithms as compared with existing state-of-the-art AKFs.

A Three-Dimensional SPH Simulation of Lander Footpad Impact on a Lunar Regolith Bed

Landing spacecraft experience significant impact forces during landing,resulting in large deformation and failure in the soil surface,which severely affects landing safety and *** paper establishes a smoothed particle hydrodynamics(SPH)model based on the theory of soil elastoplastic constitutive relations to describe the process of a lander’s footpad impacting lunar regolith *** model can provide engineering indices such as impact load and penetration depth,and illustrate the large deformation and crater characteristics of the regolith.A detailed analysis of the response of the footpad and lunar regolith during landing reveals that the process can be broadly divided into two stages of rapid penetration and oscillatory ***,there are significant similarities in the landing process under different landing velocities and footpad *** research investigates the large deformation and crater characteristics of the lunar regolith *** results demonstrate two failure modes in the *** the impact of a footpad with a smaller mass,the final failure surface of the regolith exhibits a bowl-shaped profile with a uniformly open *** contrast,under the impact of a footpad with a larger mass,the final failure surface of the regolith presents an urn-shaped profile with a large abdomen and a small ***,the impact craters in both scenarios show a bowl-like *** cases of high-velocity impacts,the impact crater exhibits obvious blocky spalling on its *** SPH model developed in this study can be applied to predict the large deformation and failure response of lunar soil under the impact of rigid structures as well as the impact load and penetration *** effectively predicts the dynamic response of the landing process,which is expected to provide a reference for engineering design.

Unraveling the precise mineralization age is vital to understand the geodynamic setting and ore-forming mechanism of the sediment-hosted Pb-Zn deposit;this has long been a *** Sichuan-Yunnan-Guizhou(SYG)triangle in the southwestern margin of the Yangtze Block is a globally recognized carbonate-hosted Pb-Zn metallogenic province and also an essential part of the South china low-temperature metallogenic *** region has>30 million tons(Mt)Zn and Pb resources and shows the enrichment of dispersed metals,such as Ga,Ge,Cd,Se,and *** the past 2 decades,abundant data on mineralization ages of Pb-Zn deposits within the SYG triangle have been documented based on various radioisotopic dating methods,resulting in significant progress in understanding the geodynamic background and ore formation of Pb-Zn deposits hosted in sedimentary rocks at SYG *** paper provides a comprehensive summary of the geochronological results and Pb-Sr isotopic data regarding Pb-Zn deposits in the SYG triangle,which identified two distinct Pb-Zn mineralization periods influencing the dynamic processes associated with the expansion and closure of the Paleo-Tethys Ocean in the western margin of the Yangtze *** predominant phase of Pb-Zn mineralization at SYG triangle spanned from the Middle Triassic to Early Jurassic(226-191 Ma),which was intensely correlated with the large-scale basin fluid transport triggered by the closure of the Paleo-Tethys Ocean and Indosinian *** secondary Pb-Zn mineralization phase occurred during the Late Devonian to Late Carboniferous and was controlled by extensional structures associated with the expansion of the Paleo-Tethys *** investigation is necessary to clarify the occurrence and potential factors involved in the Pb-Zn mineralization events during the Late Devonian to Late Carboniferous.

Smaller, faster, lower-power analog RRAM matrix computing circuits without performance compromise

Recently, the analog matrix computing(AMC) concept has been proposed for fast, efficient matrix operations, by configuring global feedback loops with crosspoint resistive memory arrays and operational amplifiers(OAs). The implementation of a general real-valued matrix(containing both positive and negative elements) is enabled by using a set of analog inverters,which, however, is considered inefficient regarding circuit compactness, power consumption, and temporal response. Here, with the assistance of the conductance compensation(CC) strategy to take full advantage of the inherent differential inputs of OAs,new AMC circuits without analog inverters are designed. Such a design saves the area occupation and power dissipation of analog inverters, and thus turns to be smaller and lower-power. Simulation results reveal that the new circuit also shows a faster response towards the steady state, thanks to the reduction of poles in the circuit, which, again, is contributed by the elimination of analog inverters. Along with all of these benefits, extensive simulations demonstrate that the CC-AMC circuits do not compromise the computing performance in terms of relative error caused by various non-ideal factors in the circuit.

When AI meets sustainable 6G

Sixth-generation(6G) networks are anticipated to achieve transformative advancements, characterized by extreme connectivity, deep integration with artificial intelligence(AI) and sensing, and airground integration. The evolution of 6G exhibits two major trends: ubiquitous intelligence and sustainability. The former aims to embed state-of-the-art AI technology into the 6G network, from the physical layers to applications, while the latter emphasizes reducing energy consumption while enhancing network performance to address environmental concerns. Despite the amazing progress in recent years, AI advancements come with substantial increases in data and computational overhead, posing critical challenges for integrating AI into sustainable 6G networks. First, high energy consumption from large datasets and heavyweight AI models contradicts6G's green goals. Second, the precise collection of large datasets, message delivery latency, and inference delays in AI models pose challenges for real-time tasks in 6G. Third, the uninterpretability and unpredictability of AI models complicate meeting the stringent requirements for controllable transmission in dynamic wireless environments. Addressing these challenges and achieving sustainable 6G with ubiquitous intelligence calls for a revolutionary design of 6G architecture and AI frameworks. To this end, this paper introduces a novel and practical methodology for green, real-time, and controllable 6G native intelligence,starting with knowledge graph(KG) analysis to extract small but critical datasets, followed by the development of distributed lightweight AI models, and the use of digital twins(DTs) to create precise replicas of physical 6G networks. This leads to a pervasive multi-level(PML)-AI framework supported by a task-centric, three-layer 6G architecture. On-line determination of selenium compounds in tea infusion by extractive electrospray ionization mass spectrometry combined with a heating reaction device

Selenium is one of the important trace elements in the human *** deficiency will directly affect human *** people's attention to health,the content of selenium in food has gradually attracted ***,detecting selenium compounds in complex samples remains a *** this work,we built an online heating-reaction *** device combines the electrospray extraction ionization mass spectrometry(EESI-MS)with the heating reaction device,which can simultaneously detect various selenium compounds in complex liquid *** acidic conditions,the sample was heated and catalyzed by a heating reaction device,so that the SeO~(2-)_(3)and O-phenylenediamine(OPD)could generate 1,3-dihydro-2,1,*** on the above reactions,we can detect organic selenium,inorganic selenium and other compounds in liquid samples by organic mass *** this experiment,we determined the content of three forms of selenium:selenomethionine(SeMet),l-selenocystine(SeCys(2)),and sodium *** calibration curves for SeMet,SeCys(2),and sodium selenite showed strong linearity within a range of 0.50-50.00μg/*** limits of detection(LOD)for the three compounds were 0.22,0.27,and 0.41μg/L,*** limits of quantification(LOQ)were 0.68,0.81,and 1.23μg/L,*** recoveries at three levels ranged from 98.8%to 106.1%.In addition,this method can simultaneously detect three selenium compounds and three other specific chemical components in tea infusion samples,providing a rapid and efficient method for identifying tea quality.
