Removal of boric acid from seawater and wastewater using reverse osmosis membrane technologies is imperative and yet remains inadequately addressed by current commercial *** research efforts performed post-modification of reverse osmosis membranes to enhance boron rejection,which is usually accompanied by substantial sacrifice in water *** study delves into the surface engineering of low-pressure reverse osmosis membranes,aiming to elevate boron removal efficiency while maintaining optimal salt rejection and water *** were modified by the self-polymerization and co-deposition of dopamine and polystyrene sulfonate at varying ratios and *** surfaces became smoother and more hydrophilic after *** optimum membrane exhibited a water permeability of 9.2±0.1 L·m^(-2)·h^(-1)·bar^(-1),NaCl rejection of 95.8%±0.3%,and boron rejection of 49.7%±0.1% and 99.6%±0.3% at neutral and alkaline pH,*** water permeability is reduced by less than 15%,while the boron rejection is 3.7 times higher compared to the blank *** research provides a promising avenue for enhancing boron removal in reverse osmosis membranes and addressing water quality concerns in the desalination process.

Osteogenesis imperfecta(OI)is a primary bone fragility disorder with an estimated prevalence of 1/15,000 births and is a hereditary syndrome characterized by one or more of the following:fractures,blue sclerae,impaired hearing,defective dentition,and hyperlaxibility throughout life.[1,2]We report a pregnant woman with type II OI and review her prenatal counseling,diagnosis,and pregnancy management to assist obstetricians in understanding the disease and managing it in emergency situations.

Hematopoiesis is an active process of cell proliferation, differentiation andrelease. It is the process during which hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) proliferate anddifferentiate to mature blood cells under the effect of hemetopoietic growth factors (HGFs) incertain hematopoietic microenvironment. HSCs are sources of hematopoiesis of a body that canself-renew, differentiate to blood cells of every lineage and maintain the constancy of them. As themajor tissue of hematopoiesis bone marrow is filled with all kinds of blood cells in variousdevelopmental stages. Under the normal conditions, the ordered proliferation and differentiation ofhematopoietic stem cells/hematopoietic progenitor cells ( HSC/HPC) depend on the regulation ofcytokine network. In present, Spatholobus suberectus Dunn (SSD), a traditional Chinese herb medicinethat has been used to invigorate the blood circulation for thousands years, is widely used torebuild blood after chemotherapy and radiotherapy and to treat hematopoietic diseases. Previousreports from our laboratory indicated that (2S,3R)-ent-catechin, epi (2S, 3R )-ent-catechin, gallic( 2S, 3R )-ent-catechin, et al extracted from SSD all could stimulate the proliferation of HPC inmarrow depressed mice, among which (2S, 3R)-ent-catechin obtained from spatholobus genus for thefirst time and whose content was the maxim showed the best effect. In this study, firstly, theeffect of (2S,3R)-ent-catechin on the quality and quantity of HSCs were assayed by detectingCD_(34)^+ expression. Secondly, we investigated the variation of cytokine (GM-CSF and IL-6)sero-level in mice treated with (2S,3R)- ent-catechin by ELISA. And IL-6 mRNA and GM-CSF mRNAexpressions induced by (2S,3R)-ent-catechin were detected simultaneously by RT-PCR technique inorder to clarify its mechanism.

Fibroblast activation protein (FAP) is among the most popular targets in nuclear medicine imaging and cancer theranostics. Several small-molecule moieties (FAPI-04, FAPI-46, etc.) are used for developing FAP-targeted theranostic agents. Nonetheless, the circulation time of FAP inhibitors is relatively short, resulting in rapid clearance via kidneys, low tumor uptake, and associated unsatisfactory treatment efficacy. To address the existing drawbacks, we engineered 3 peptides named FD1, FD2, and FD3 with different circulation times through solid-phase peptide synthesis. All the 3 reported peptides bind to human and murine FAP with single-digit nanomolar affinity measured by surface plasmon resonance. The diagnostic and therapeutic potential of the agents labeled with 68Ga and 177Lu was assessed in several tumor models exhibiting different levels of FAP expression. While radiolabeled FD1 was rapidly excreted from kidneys, radiolabeled FD2/FD3 have significantly prolonged circulation, increased tumor uptake, and decreased kidney accumulation. Our findings indicated that [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-FD1 positron emission tomography (PET) effectively detected FAP dynamics, whereas [177Lu]Lu-DOTA-FD2 and [177Lu]Lu-DOTA-FD3 exhibited remarkable therapeutic efficacy in FAP-overexpressing tumor models, including pancreatic cancer cell models characterized by abundant stroma. Moreover, a pilot translational investigation demonstrated that [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-FD1 had the capability to identify both primary and metastatic tumors with precision and distinction. In summary, we developed [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-FD1 for same-day PET imaging of FAP dynamics and [177Lu]Lu-DOTA-FD2 and [177Lu]Lu-DOTA-FD3 for effective radioligand therapy of FAP-overexpressing tumors.

Alcoholic liver disease(ALD)encompasses liver damage caused by chronic,excessive alcohol *** manifests initially as marked hepatocellular steatosis and can progress to steatohepatitis,liver fibrosis,and *** China’s rapid economic growth,coupled with a complex social background and the influence of a deleterious wine culture,the number of patients with ALD in China has increased significantly;the disease has become a social and health problem that cannot be *** this review,we briefly described the social factors affecting ALD in China and elaborated on differences between alcoholic and other liver diseases in terms of complications(e.g.,cirrhosis,upper gastrointestinal bleeding,hepatic encephalopathy,hepatocellular carcinoma,addiction,and other extrahepatic diseases).We also emphasized that ALD was more dangerous and difficult to treat than other liver diseases due to its complications,and that precise and effective treatment measures were *** addition,we considered new ideas and treatment methods that may be generated in the future.

Ultrahigh-temperature-pressure experiments are crucial for understanding the physical and chemical properties of *** recent development of boron-doped diamond(BDD)heaters has made such melting experiments possible in large-volume ***,estimates of temperatures above 2600 K and of the temperature distributions inside BDD heaters are not well constrained,owing to the lack of a suitable ***,we establish a three-dimensional finite element model as a virtual thermometer to estimate the temperature and temperature field above 2600 *** advantage of this virtual thermometer over those proposed in previous studies is that it considers both alternating and direct current heating modes,the actual sizes of cell assemblies after compression,the effects of the electrode,thermocouple and anvil,and the heat dissipation by the pressure-transmitting *** virtual thermometer reproduces the power-temperature relationships of ultrahigh-temperature-pressure experiments below 2600 K at press loads of 2.8-7.9 MN(~19 to 28 GPa)within experimental *** temperatures above 2600 K predicted by our virtual thermometer are within the uncertainty of those extrapolated from power-temperature relationships below 2600 ***,our model shows that the temperature distribution inside a BDD heater(19-26 K/mm along the radial direction and<83 K/mm along the longitudinal direction)is more homogeneous than those inside conventional heaters such as graphite or LaCrO_(3) heaters(100-200 K/mm).Our study thus provides a reliable virtual thermometer for ultrahigh-temperature experiments using BDD heaters in Earth and material sciences.
