Aldehyde and ketone compounds are ubiquitous in the air and prone to adverse effects on human *** emission is one of the major indoor *** to evaluate health risks associated with inhalation exposure to aldehyde and ketone compounds,13 carbonyl compounds(CCs)released from heating 5 edible oils,3 seasonings,and 2 dishes were investigated in a kitchen *** the scenarios of heating five types of oil,aldehydes accounted for 61.1%-78.0%of the total emission,mainly acetaldehyde,acrolein and ***,heating oil with added seasonings released greater concentrations of aldehyde and ketone *** concentration enhancement of larger molecular aldehydes was significantly *** emission factors of aldehyde and ketone compounds for cooking the dish of chili friedmeatweremuch greater compared to that of tomato fried ***,food materials also had a great impact on the aldehyde and ketone *** and acetaldehyde were the most abundant CCs in the *** concentrations ranged from 235.18 to 498.71μg/m^(3),which was about 100 times greater compared to the guidelines provided by Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment(OEHHA).The acetaldehyde inhalation for adultswas 856.83-1515.55μg and 56.23-192.79μg from exposure to chili fried meat and tomato fried eggs,*** exceeds the reference value of 90μg/day provided by *** findings of this study provided scientific evidences for the roles of cooking emissions on indoor air quality and human health.

Trends of Regional Precipitation and Their Control Mechanisms during 1979–2013

Trends in precipitation are critical to water resources. Considerable uncertainty remains concerning the trends of regional precipitation in response to global warming and their controlling mechanisms. Here, we use an interannual difference method to derive trends of regional precipitation from GPCP （Global Precipitation Climatology Project） data and MERRA （Modern- Era Retrospective Analysis for Research and Applications） reanalysis in the near-global domain of 60~ S-60~N during a major global warming period of 1979-2013. We find that trends of regional annual precipitation are primarily driven by changes in the top 30% heavy precipitation events, which in turn are controlled by changes in precipitable water in response to global warming, i.e., by thermodynamic processes. Significant drying trends are found in most parts of the U.S. and eastern Canada, the Middle East, and eastern South America, while significant increases in precipitation occur in northern Australia, southern Africa, western India and western China. In addition, as the climate warms there are extensive enhancements and expansions of the three major tropical precipitation centers-the Maritime Continent, Central America, and tropical Africa-leading to the observed widening of Hadley cells and a significant strengthening of the global hydrological cycle.

AIM: To investigate the effect of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)on the diarrheogenic activity, gastrointestinal transit (GIT),and intestinal fluid content and the possible role of nitric oxide (NO) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) in gastrointestinal functions of endotoxin-treated ***: Diarrheogic activity, GIT, and intestinal fluid content as well as nitric oxide and PGE2 products were measured after intraperitoneal administration of LPS in ***: LPS dose-dependently accumulated abundant fluid into the small intestine, induced diarrhea, but decreased the GIT. Both nitric oxide and PGE2 were found to increase in LPS-treated mice. Western blot analysis indicated that LPS significantly induced the protein expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 in mice intestines. Pretreatment with NG-nitro-L-arginine-methyl ester (L-NAME, a non-selective NOS inhibitor) or indomethacin (an inhibitor of prostaglandin synthesis) significantly attenuated the effects of LPS on the diarrheogenic activity and intestine content, but reversed the ***: The present study suggests that the pathogenesis of LPS treatment may mediate the stimulatory effect of LPS on nitric oxide and PGE2 production and NO/prostaglandin pathway may play an important role on gastrointestinal function.

AIM:To elucidate the variety of ways early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)can appear on magnetic resonance(MR)imaging by analyzing T1-weighted,T2-weighted,and gadolinium-enhanced dynamic ***:Seventy-three patients with well-differentiated HCC(wHCC)or dysplastic nodules were retrospectively identified from medical records,and new histological sections were prepared and *** tumor nodules were categorized into three groups:dysplastic nodule(DN),wHCC compatible with Edmondson-Steiner grade I HCC(w1-HCC),and wHCC compatible with Edmondson-Steiner gradeⅡHCC(w2-HCC).The signal intensity on pre-contrast MR imaging and the enhancing pattern for each tumor were recorded and compared between the three tumor ***:Among the 73 patients,14 were diagnosed as having DN,40 were diagnosed as having w1-HCC,and 19 were diagnosed as having *** measurements on T2-weighted axial images(T2WI)were statistically significant between DNs and wHCC(P=0.006)and between DN and w1-HCC(P=0.02).The other imaging features revealed no significant differences between DN and wHCC or between DN and *** on both T1W out-phase imaging(P=0.007)and arterial enhancement on dynamic study(P=0.005)showed statistically significant differences between w1-HCC and *** other imaging features revealed no significant differences between w1-HCC and ***:In the follow-up for a cirrhotic nodule,increased signal intensity on T2WI may be a sign of malignant ***,a noted loss of hyperintensity on T1WI and the detection of arterial enhancement might indicate further progression of the histological grade.

In this paper,the pCO_2 sensitive electrode was studied for continuous *** solid electrolyte membrane and gas-permeable membrane were coated on the surface of the pH sensitive electrode which was fabricated based on the SnO_2/ITO glass *** to the experimental results,the pCO_2 sensitive electrode shows the sensitivity of about 35 mV/decade in detection range between 0.1 mmol/L and 50 mmol/***,the investigated sensing structure exhibits the convenient and pragmatic properties of the pCO_2 *** summary,the advantages of the pCO_2 sensitive electrode are low-cost and disposable based on the separative structure.

Objective： To evaluate apoptotic effects of cisplatin and cordycepin as single agent or in combination with cytotoxicity in oral cancer cells. Methods： The influences of cisplatin （2.5 μg/mL） and/or cordycapin treatment （10 or 100 μmol/L） to human OC3 oral cancer cell line were investigated by morphological observation for cell death appearance, methylthiazoletetrazolium （MTT） assay for cell viability, flow cytometry assay for cell apoptosis, and Western blotting for apoptotic protein expressions. Results： Data demonstrated that co-administration of cisplatin （2.5 μg/mL） and cordycepin （10 or 100μmol/L） resulted in the enhancement of OC3 cell apoptosis compared to cisplatin or cordycapin alone treatment （24 h）, respectively （P〈0.05）. In flow cytometry assay, percentage of cells arrested at subG1 phase with co-treatment of cordycepin and cisplatin （30%） was significantly higher than cisplatin （5%） or cordycepin （12%） alone group （P〈0.05）, confirming a synergistically apoptotic effect of cordycepin and cisplatin. In cellular mechanism study, co-treatment of cordycepin and cisplatin induced more stress-activated protein kinase/dun terminal kinase （JNK）, the expressions of caspase-7, and the cleavage of poly ADP-ribose polymerase （PARP） as compared to cisplatin or cordycepin alone treatment （P〈0.05）. Conclusion： Cisplatin and cordycepin possess synergistically apoptotic effect through the activation of JNK/caspase-7/PARP pathway in human OC3 oral cancer cell line.

BACKGROUND No prognostic models specific to hepatocellular carcinoma patients receiving surgical resection have been considered strong and convincing enough for survival prediction thus far,and there are no models including only preoperative *** derived a nomogram to predict disease-free survival in a previous *** To simplify our score and compare research outcomes among other scoring *** We retrospectively reviewed data from 1106 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma who underwent liver resection at the Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital between April 2003 and December *** analyses were conducted to identify the significant survival ***,Harrell’s C-index,and Akaike information criterion were compared between our score,AJCC 8^(th)edition,Tokyo score,and Taipei Integrated Scoring System(TTV-CTPAFP model).RESULTS Among the 1106 patients,731(66.1%)had tumor recurrence at a median followup of 83.9 *** risk factors were identified:platelet count,albumin level,indocyanine green retention rate,multiplicity,and radiologic total tumor *** were divided into three risk groups,and the 5-year survival rates were 61.7%,39%,and 25.7%,*** C-index was 0.617,which was higher than the Tokyo score(0.613)and the Taipei Integrated Scoring System(0.562)and equal to the value of the AJCC 8th edition(0.617).CONCLUSION The modified score provides an easier method to predict *** treatment can be planned preoperatively by dividing patients into risk groups.

The shoe sole geometrical design parameters are believed to be important factors affecting the coefficient of friction （COF） between the shoe/floor interface. This study is concerned with the relationship between the measured COF and the tread groove orientation and width on the footwear pad. Friction measurements using the Brungraber Mark Ⅱ slipmeter were conducted. Six tread groove width/orientations designs on the footwear pads under 27 footwear material/floor/contamination conditions were tested. The results show that tread orientation and width affect the measured COF significantly. Wider grooved footwear pads result in higher COF values and footwear pads with tread grooves perpendicular to the friction measurement direction have higher COF values. A regression model using measured COF as the dependent variable and tread groove width, groove orientation, footwear material, floor, and contamination conditions as independent variables was established. The models are significant at p〈0.0001 with R^2 of 0.97, which may be used in predicting the COF at the shoe-floor interface .
