Purpose:To describe the development of a Compendium for estimating the energy costs of activities in adults>60 years(OA Compendium).Methods:Physical activities(PAs)and their metabolic equivalent of task(MET)values were obtained from a systematic search of studies published in 4 sport and exercise databases(PubMed,Embase,SPORTDiscus(EBSCOhost),and Scopus)and a review of articles included in the 2011 Adult Compendium that measured PA in older *** values were computed as the oxygen cost(VO_(2),ml/kg/min)during PA divided by 2.7 m l/kg/min(MET_(60+))to account for the lower resting metabolic rate in older ***:We identified 68 articles and extracted energy expenditure data on 427 *** these,we derived 99 unique Specific Activity codes with corresponding MET_(60+)values for older *** developed a website to present the OA Compendium MET_(60+)values:https://***:The OA Compendium uses data collected from adults>60 years for more accurate estimation of the energy cost of PAs in older *** is an accessible resource that will allow researchers,educators,and practitioners to find MET_(60+)values for older adults for use in PA research and practice.

Molecular Evolution of VEF-Domain-Containing PcG Genes in Plants

Arabidopsis VERNAlIZATION2 （VRN2）, EMBRYONIC FlOWER2 （EMF2）, and FERTIlIZATION-INDEPENDENT SEED2 （FIS2） are involved in vernalization-mediated flowering, vegetative development, and seed development, respectively. Together with Arabidopsis VEF-l36, they share a VEF domain that is conserved in plants and animals. To investigate the evolution of VEF-domain-containing genes （VEF genes）, we analyzed sequences related to VEF genes across land plants. To date, 24 full-length sequences from 11 angiosperm families and 54 partial sequences from another nine families were identified. The majority of the full-length sequences identified share greatest sequence similarity with and possess the same major domain structure as Arabidopsis EMF2. EMF2-1ike sequences are not only widespread among angiosperms, but are also found in genomic sequences of gymnosperms, lycophyte, and moss. No FIS2- or VEF-l36-1ike sequences were recovered from plants other than Arabidopsis, including from rice and poplar for which whole genomes have been sequenced. Phylogenetic analysis of the full-length sequences showed a high degree of amino acid sequence conservation in EMF2 homologs of closely related taxa. VRN2 homologs are recovered as a clade nested within the larger EMF2 clade. FIS2 and VEF-l36 are recovered in the VRN2 clade. VRN2 clade may have evolved from an EMF2 duplication event that occurred in the rosids prior to the divergence of the eurosid I and eurosid II lineages. We propose that dynamic changes in genome evolution contribute to the generation of the family of VEF-domain-containing genes, Phylogenetic analysis of the VEF domain alone showed that VEF sequences continue to evolve following EM F2NRN2 divergence in accordance with species relationship. Existence of EMF2-1ike sequences in animals and across land plants suggests that a prototype form of EMF2 was present prior to the divergence of the plant and animal lineages. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 has thoroughly reshaped the medical landscape. Much has been written and discussed of the adaptations required by this pandemic, particularly in the realm of elective medical care. While some areas of the country have, in recent weeks, seen a plateau or even a decrease in coronavirus 2019 case-burden, others remain face-to-face with significant ongoing morbidity and mortality. Furthermore, given eased restrictions across numerous states and municipalities, a widespread resurgence of the disease is not precluded. To that end, we have attempted to summarize experiences and best practices in the handling of breast imaging against the backdrop of the novel coronavirus, and we consider future directions.

A chemical ecological investigation of the allelopathic potential of <i>lamium amplexicaule</i>and <i>lamium purpureum</i>

The overall goal of the project was to test the hypothesis that lamium amplexicaule and lamium purpureum, weedy invasive species to North America, use phytotoxic allelochemicals in interplant competition. The chemical compositions of the essential oils from the aerial parts of l. amplexicaule and l. purpureum have been obtained by hydrodistillation and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The essential oils and several essential oil components have been screened for phytotoxic activity on lettuce (lactuca sativa) and perennial ryegrass (lolium perenne) as well as nematocidal activity against Caenorhabditis elegans, brine shrimp (Artemia salina) lethality, and insecticidal activity against the red imported fire ant (Solenopsis invicta × richteri). l. amplexicaule essential oil was composed largely of α-pinene, β- pinene, 1-octen-3-ol, (E)-caryophyllene, and germacrene D, while l. purpureum oil was dominated by α-pinene, β-pinene, 1-octen-3-ol, β-elemene, and germacrene D. Neither essential oil exhibited notable phytotoxicity or lethality against nema-todes, brine shrimp, or fire ants. It is unlikely, therefore, that the allelopathy observed in these lamium species is due to volatile phytochemical constituents.

Injectable thermal gels are a useful tool for drug delivery and tissue ***,most thermal gels do not solidify rapidly at body temperature(37C).We addressed this by synthesizing a thermo-sensitive,rapidly biodegrading *** hydrogel,poly(ethylene glycol)-co-poly(propanol serinate hexamethylene urethane)(EPSHU),is an ABA block copolymer comprising A,methoxy poly ethylene glycol group and B,poly(propanol l-serinate hexamethylene urethane).EPSHU was characterized by gel permeation chromatography for molecular weight and 1H NMR and Fourier transformed infrared for *** studies measured the phase transition *** vitro degradation in cholesterol esterase and in Dulbecco’s phosphate buffered saline(DPBS)was tracked using the average molecular weight measured by gel permeation ***/DEAD and resazurin reduction assays performed on NIH 3T3 fibroblasts exposed to EPSHU extracts demonstrated no *** implantation into BAlB/cJ mice indicated good biocompatibility in *** biodegradability and biocompatibility of EPSHU together make it a promising candidate for drug delivery applications that demand carrier gel degradation withinmonths.
