background: Acute coronary syndromes (ACS) in the elderly are often a problem in their diagnosis and treatment, explaining a high mortality. Our study aimed to evaluate diagnostic, therapeutic and evolutive aspects in 3 cardiology departments of Dakar. Patients and Methods: We conducted a multicentric, retrospective and descriptive study during 2 years from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2018. All patients older than 75 years admitted for acute coronary syndromes were included. The diagnosis was based on clinical signs with typical electrocardiographic changes and troponin assays. b>Results: b>Seventy and six patients (76) were enrolled. The prevalence of ACS in the elderly was 2.5% of all hospitalized patients and 21.8% of all ACS. The average age was 78.76 years. The sex ratio male/female was 1.71. The cardiovascular risk factors were essentially physical inactivity (97%) and hypertension (6.84%). Angina pain was the master symptom, but the pain was atypical in the most cases (52.63%). The second sign was dyspnea (46.05%). The average admission time for patients with STEMI (ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction) was 27 hours. Among these patients, 67% had a STEMI, 24% had NSTEMI (non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction) and 9% had an unstable angina. The triptych (Smartphones, Video games, adolescents) has imposed itself on the collective consciousness in the form of questioning to the point of becoming a social phenomenon. It thus raises concerns about the uses that adolescents make of it and the effects on their academic performance, which we proposed to study among middle school students from the Dakar academy inspection. Where appropriate, we used mixed methods with the collection techniques of questionnaire survey, semi-structured interviews respectively with middle school students, adults (parents, supervisors, teachers, etc.), participant observation and literature review. Concretely, before accessibility to video games, the middle school students were more idle and well-behaved, watched a lot of TV, played with their brothers and sisters or did household chores. The majority of young people had good, very good or excellent conduct and their averages were fair, fairly good or good. With access to a diverse digital environment, middle school students have passionately turned to video games. As a result, their learning time, concentration and submission to parental injunctions have declined significantly. This situation negatively affected their academic performance and encouraged bad behavior.

Introduction: Over the past years, efforts have been made to expand access to antiretroviral combinations (cART) in low-income countries. However, major concerns are noted with drug resistance emergence, as treatment failure result and need to introduce a second line treatment, more expensive and difficult to implement. The objective was to study the incidence of switch to second line, reasons for switch and risk factors using a cohort of people living with HIV in an Ambulatory Treatment Center in Dakar. Methodology: This was a cohort study of people living with HIV under cART from January 2004 to December 2013. Naive patients monitored for at least six months, regardless of their profile and regimen with baseline CD4 counts Results: The median age of the 827 patients included was 44 [IQR = 18 - 78]. The switch to second-line treatment was observed in 72 patients (8.7%) after an average of 38.5 months of follow-up. The overall incidence rate of switch to second line of antiretroviral treatment was 1.59 per 100 persons-years. Most of changes in first-line treatment were motivated by virological failures (n = 60, 83.3%) under treatment with AZT/3TC/NVP (n = 25, 34.7%) or AZT/3TC/EFV21 (29.2%). 9.7% of switch occurred after immunological failure, 1.4% after clinical failure, 4.2% after severe toxicity and 1.4% was not documented. Predictive factors identifying failures at the end of the multivariate analysis were age Conclusions: In total, CTA identified a low incidence rate of treatment failure of the first line of treatment. Associated risk factors were age below 100 cells/mm3 and high viral load at treatment initiation.

Objective:To investigate the relationship between inactive foot and mouth disease virus (FMDV) vaccination and result of gamma interferon (IFN-γ) assay for tuberculosis in cattle negative for bovine tuberculosis. Methods:A total of 300 tuberculosis-negative cattles were subcutaneously vaccinated with inactive FMD vaccine. Nine hundred blood samples were collected from the same 300 cattles after 7, 15, and 30 days of vaccination. Then, all samples were tested with IFN-γ assay for tuberculosis. Results:A total of 900 blood samples were tested with IFN-γ assay for tuberculosis and all of the samples were found negative for bovine tuberculosis. Conclusions:Our results indicate that inactive FMD vaccination in cattle do not affect results of IFN-γ assay for tuberculosis.

We study the mixed spin-1 and spin-3/2 blume-Capel model under crystal field in the tridimensional semi-infinite case. This has been done by using the real-space renormalization group approximation and specifically the Migdal-Kadanoff technique. As a function of the ratio R of bulk and surface interactions and the ratios Rb>1b> and Rb>2 b>of bulk and surface crystals fields on the spin-1 and spin-3/2 respectively, we have determined various types of phase diagrams. besides second- order transition lines, first-order phase transition lines terminating at tricritical points are obtained. We found that there existed nine main types of phase diagram showing a variety of phase transitions associated with the surface, including ordinary, extraordinary, surface and special phase transitions.
