Early Quality Life Impairment in Alzheimer Disease’s Patients in Geriatric Department: About 214 Cases in Pitié salpêtrière Hospital of Paris (France)

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative disease causing an alteration of life quality in the terminal stage. The purpose was to report 14 years of experience about the early impact on the quality of life of patients with AD. Methodology: Descriptive retrospective study over 14 years in the geriatric department of Pitié salpêtrière Hospital, using the activity of daily living, Instrumental activity of daily living, neuropsychological inventory and Hoen Yahr scale evaluated at the time of diagnosis of AD according to the National Institute of Neurological and Communicative Disorders and stroke-Alzheimer Disease’s and Related Disorders Association diagnostic criteria. Results: A total of 214 exploitable files had been listed. At the moment of diagnosis, the mean age was 82.1 years with extremes 68 to 95 with sex ratio 1.6 in women’s favor. The mean socio-cultural level was 4.9 with extremes about 0 to 7. There was poly pathology with a mean Cumulative Illness Rate scale = 4.6 with extremes 0 to 16. the mean cognitive status was moderate = 22.5 with extremes 0 to 30. Quality life showed moderate impairment of IADL = 9.2 with extreme 3 to 11 compared to activity of daily living. The activity of daily living was more affected in 68 - 80-year-olds, while poly pathology impacted more on IADL in men. The cognitive impairment was more deficient in IADL when the MMsE test was low. The common disorders at the NPI were psychological, behavioral and psychotic. Conclusion: At the early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease cognitive deficiencies were predominant and influenced on global Instrumental activity and psychological, behavioral disorders.

Introduction: The six sigma methodology is an opportunity for a better understanding of the performance of analytical methods and for a better adaptation of the quality control management policy of the medical biology laboratory. Using the sigma metric, this study assessed the performance of the Biochemistry analytical system of a medical biology laboratory in Côte d'Ivoire. Methods: six sigma methodology was applied to 3 analytes (alanine aminotransferase, glucose and creatinine). Performance indicators such as measurement imprecision and bias were determined based on the results of internal and external quality controls. The sigma number was calculated using the total allowable error values proposed by Ricos et al. Results: For both control levels, ALT had a sigma number greater than 6 (7.6 for normal control and 7.9 for pathological control). However, low sigma numbers, less than or equal to 2 for creatinine (1.4 for normal control and 2 for pathological control) and less than 1 for glucose were found. Conclusion: This study revealed good analytical performance of ALT from the point of view of 6 sigma analysis. However, modifications to the overall quality control procedure for glucose and creatinine are needed to improve their analytical performance. The study should be extended to the entire laboratory’s analytes in order to modify the strategies of quality control procedures based on metric analysis for an overall improvement in analytical performance.

The Panzhihua intrusion in southwest China is part of the Emeishan large igneous province and host of a large Fe-Ti-V ore *** previous interpretations it was considered to be a layered,differentiated sill with the ore deposits at its *** structural and petrological data suggest instead that the intrusion has an open s-shape,with two near-concordant segments joined by a discordant dyke-like segment. Background： The processes of weaning and exposure to pathogenic bacteria induce stress responses, which may alter the metabolism. In this study, we investigated the changes in plasma metabolites and immune responses in piglets in response to the stress induced by weaning and Escherichia coli challenge. Results： Fecal dry matter decreased （P = 0.003） and nearly half （44.4%） the piglets developed diarrhea on day 2 and 3 postweaning. The concentration of plasma immunoglobulin A was higher （P 〈 0.001） on day 11 postweaning than on day 0 or 4 postweaning. The levels of white blood cells increased continuously （P〈 0.001） from day 0 to day 11 postweaning. Differences in the percentages of neutrophils （P = 0.029） and lymphocytes （P = 0.022） were seen, but the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio did not differ in the period after weaning. A clear separation of the metabolomic profile data for day 0 and day 4 postweaning was observed with a principal components analysis （PCA） scores plot, and the data for day 11 were located between those for day 0 and day 4 postweaning. The plasma levels of proline, taurine, and carnitine were higher, whereas those of betaine, creatine, L-arginine and acetylcarnitine were lower on day 4 postweaning than on day 0. Levels of lysophosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylcholine were either higher or lower after weaning, depending on the chain lengths or characters of these metabolites. Conclusions： Our results show a clear separation in the plasma metabolomic profiles of piglets that corresponded to the fecal responses to stress on the piglets induced by weaning or exposure to a pathogen （E. coli）. These plasma metabolite profiles suggest that the challenges induced proinflammatory responses in the piglets, resulting in postweaning diarrhea, which was associated with higher concentrations of IgA in the plasma.

Autophagy is an evolutionarily conserved process where long-lived and damaged organelles are *** has been widely associated with several ageing-process as well in diseases such as neurodegeneration,cancer and fibrosis,and is now being utilised as a target in these *** pulmonary fibrosis(IPF)is a progressive,interstitial lung disease with limited treatment options *** is characterised by abnormal extracellular matrix(ECM)deposition by activated *** is understood that repetitive microinjuries to aged-alveolar epithelium combined with genetic factors drive the *** groups have demonstrated that autophagy is altered in IPF although whether autophagy has a protective effect or not is yet to be *** has also been shown to influence many other processes including epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT)and endothelialmesenchymal transition(EndMT)which are known to be key in the pathogenesis of *** this review,we summarise the findings of evidence of altered autophagy in IPF lungs,as well as examine its roles within lung *** these findings,together with the growing use of autophagy manipulation in a clinical setting,this is an exciting area for further research in the study of lung fibrosis.

By the 1930s, a variety of forces were chipping away at the traditional Chinese wedding in urban centers like shanghai. ＂New-style＂ weddings--with a bride in a white wedding dress--took place outside of the home and featured networks of friends, choice of one＇s spouse, autonomy from one＇s parents, and the promise of happiness and independence. With the publication of wedding portraits and detailed discussions of new-style wedding etiquette and its trappings, women＇s magazines further shaped the new-style bride as a consumer and an individual. Early reformers had envisioned the new-style ceremony as a streamlined and affordable alternative to traditional ceremonies, but for most city residents these weddings remained out of reach. After the Nationalist consolidation of power in 1928, shanghai was deemed a crucial site for the promotion of ritual reform and economic restraint. Weddings were at the crux of this movement, which was buttressed by the Civil Code of 1931 allowing children to legally marry without parental consent. New Life Movement group weddings came next. These ceremonies co-opted urban wedding culture in an attempt to frame the new-style wedding as a ritual of politicized citizenship under the Nationalist government. The tension between the popular, commercial, new-style wedding and the Nationalists＇ spartan political vision, as played out in the market, is examined below.
