WC-Co is used widely in die and mold industries due to its unique combination of hardness, strength and wear-resistance. For machining difficult-to-cut materials, such as tungsten carbide, micro-electrical discharge machining(EDM) is one of the most effective methods for making holes because the hardness is not a dominant parameter in EDM. This paper describes the characteristics of the discharge conditions for micro-hole EDM of tungsten carbide with a WC grain size of 0.5 μm and Co content of 12%. The EDM process was conducted by varying the condenser and resistance values. A R-C discharge EDM device using arc erosion for micro-hole machining was suggested. Furthermore, the characteristics of the developed micro-EDM were analyzed in terms of the electro-optical observation using an oscilloscope and field emission scanning electron microscope.

The characteristic evaluation of aluminum oxide （A1203）/carbon nanotubes （CNTs） hybrid composites for micro-electrical discharge machining （EDM） was described. Alumina matrix composites reinforced with CNTs were fabricated by a catalytic chemical vapor deposition method. A1203 composites with different CNT concentrations were synthesized. The electrical characteristic of A1203/CNTs composites was examined. These composites were machined by the EDM process according to the various EDM parameters, and the characteristics of machining were analyzed using field emission scanning electron microscope （FESEM）. The electrical conductivity has a increasing tendency as the CNTs content is increased and has a critical point at 5% A1203 （volume fraction）. In the machining accuracy, many tangles of CNT in A1203/CNTs composites cause violent spark. Thus, it causes the poor dimensional accuracy and circularity. The results show that conductivity of the materials and homogeneous distribution of CNTs in the matrix are important factors for micro-EDM of A1203/CNTs hybrid composites.

With the increasing prevalence of lithium-ion batteries（LIBs） applications,the demand for high-capacity next-generation materials has also *** currently considered a promising anode material due to its exceptionally high capacity for ***,the significant volumetric changes of SiOxduring cycling and its initial Coulombic efficiency（ICE） complicate its use,whether alone or in combination with graphite *** this study,a three-dimensional conductive binder network with high electronic conductivity and robust elasticity for graphite/SiOxblended anodes was proposed by chemically anchoring carbon nanotubes and carboxymethyl cellulose binders using tannic acid as a chemical *** addition,a dehydrogenation-based prelithiation strategy employing lithium hydride was utilized to enhance the ICE of *** combination of these two strategies increased the CE of SiOxfrom 74% to87% and effectively mitigated its volume expansion in the graphite/SiOxblended electrode,resulting in an efficient electron-conductive binder *** led to a remarkable capacity retention of 94% after30 cycles,even under challenging conditions,with a high capacity of 550 mA h g-1and a current density of 4 mA ***,to validate the feasibility of utilizing prelithiated SiOxanode materials and the conductive binder network in LIBs,a full cell incorporating these materials and a single-crystalline Ni-rich cathode was *** cell demonstrated a～27.3% increase in discharge capacity of the first cycle(～185.7 mA h g-1) and exhibited a cycling stability of 300 ***,this study reports a simple,feasible,and insightful method for designing high-performance LIB electrodes.

In this study,the Betts-Miller-Janjic(BMJ)convective adjustment scheme in the Weather Research and Forecasting(WRF)model version 4.0 was used to investigate the effect of itsα-parameter,which influences the first-guess potential temperature reference profile on the Madden-Julian oscillation(MJO)propagation and *** study diagnosed the MJO active phase composites of the MJO-filtered outgoing longwave radiation(OLR)during the December-to-February(DJF)period of 2006-2016 over the Indian Ocean(IO),Maritime Continent(MC),and western Pacific(WP).The results show that the MJO-filtered OLR intensity,propagation pattern,and MJO classification(standing,jumping,and propagating clusters)are sensitive to theα-value,but the phase speeds of propagating MJOs are ***,with an increasingα-value,the simulated MJO-filtered OLR intensity increases,and the simulated propagation pattern is *** also show that the intensity and propagation pattern of an eastward-propagating MJO are associated with MJO circulation structures and thermodynamic ***αincreases,the front Walker cell and the low-level easterly anomaly are enhanced,which premoistens the lower troposphere and triggers more active shallow and congestus *** enhanced shallow and congestus convection preconditions the lower to middle troposphere,accelerating the transition from congestus to deep convection,thereby facilitating eastward propagation of the ***,the simulated MJO tends to transfer from standing to eastward propagating asα*** summary,increasing theα-value is a possible way to improve the simulation of the structure and propagation of the MJO.

Classifying Cognitive Decline in Older Drivers from Behavior on Adverse Roads Detected Using Computer Vision

As drivers age, roadway conditions may become more challenging, particularly when normal aging is coupled with cognitive decline. Driving during lower visibility conditions, such as inclement weather, is especially challenging for older drivers due to their sensitivity to glare and reduced visibility. As a result, older drivers may adjust their behavior during adverse weather. This paper explores the differential impacts of weather on older drivers with cognitive decline compared to older drivers with normal cognitive function. Data were from a naturalistic driving study of older drivers in Omaha, Nebraska. Driver speed and weather data were extracted and the correlation between speed compliance, road weather conditions, and the cognitive/neurological status of the drivers was examined. Speed compliance was used as the surrogate safety measure since driving at lower speeds can indicate that the driver is challenged by roadway or environmental conditions and can therefore indicate a risk. The percentage of time during a trip when drivers were 16.1 kph under the speed limit was modeled as the dependent variable using beta regression. The variables that resulted in the best fit model were mild cognitive impairment (MCI), age group, traffic density, and weather. Results indicated that the youngest group of older drivers (young-old) spent less time driving at impeding speeds and had the least variability compared to the other two age groups. The middle group of older drivers (middle-old) had the highest amount of time driving at impeding speeds and had more variability than young-old drivers. The oldest group of older drivers (old-old) were the most likely to drive at impeding speeds and had the most variability. In general, older drivers were more likely to drive at impeding speeds during peak hours than during non-peak hours. Geodetic observations over the past several decades identify the Tien Shan as a prominent and active intracontinental mountain belt,characterized by a meridional shortening rate of up to 20 mm/*** region has experienced significant seismic events,particularly along its northern boundary,highlighting the recurrent seismic activity in the Kyrgyz *** Issyk-Ata fault,stretching 120 km from west to east in the northern Tien Shan,bounds from the north a young,growing anticline demarcating the foothills of the Kyrgyz Range and the Chui *** region is susceptible to strong earthquakes,posing a significant threat to the Chui region and Bishkek,the capital city with over a million *** youngest fault in the area is the Issyk-Ata fault,traversing the southern part of Bishkek,where modern construction has obscured its *** study integrates remote sensing,detailed fieldwork,and paleoseismological investigations to map and analyze surface ruptures,quantify vertical displacements,and assess seismic hazards along the Issyk-Ata *** optically stimulated luminescence and radiocarbon dating,we determined ages for documented paleoseismic events,placing two ancient earthquakes in the *** estimates suggest seismic events with magnitudes ranging from 6.6 to *** the Dzhal area,geological and geomorphological analysis yielded a longterm fault-slip rate of 1.15 mm/*** Issyk-Ata fault shows variable rupture behavior,with distinct segments demonstrating different seismic characteristics and histories of *** variability necessitates comprehensive seismic hazard modeling to better understand and mitigate potential risks in the region.

Al-doped ZnO(AZO) is considered as an alternative to transparent conductive oxide *** and achieving a stable surface are important challenges in the development and optimization of dry etching processes, which must be overcome for the application of AZO in various devices. Therefore, in this study, the etch rate and surface properties of an AZO thin film after plasma etching using the adaptive coupled plasma system were investigated. The fastest etch rate was achieved with a CF_(4)/Ar ratio of 50:50 sccm. Regardless of the ratio of CF_(4) to Ar,the transmittance of the film in the visible region exceeded 80%. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis of the AZO thin film confirmed that metal-F bonding persists on the surface after plasma etching. It was also shown that F eliminates O vacancies. Consequently, the work function and bandgap energy increased as the ratio of CF-4 increased. This study not only provides information on the effect of plasma on AZO thin film, but identifies the cause of changes in the device characteristics during device fabrication.

In this pape,~ we study uniform L1-stability and asymptotic completeness of the Vlasov-Yukawa-Boltzmann （V-Y-B） system. For a sufficiently small rand smooth initial data, we show that classical solutions exist globally and satisfy dispersion estimates, uniform L1-stability with respect to initial data and scattering type estimate. We show that the short range nature of interactions due to the Yukawa potential enables us to construct robust Lyapunov type functional to derive scattering states. In the zero mass limit of force carrier particles, we also show that the classical solutions to the V-Y-B system converge to that of the Vlasov-Poisson-Boltzmann （V-P-B） system in any finite time interval
