AIM To investigate the relationship between selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor(SSRI)use and the subsequent development of irritable bowel syndrome(IBS).METHODS This retrospective,observational,population-based cohort study collected data from Taiwan’s National Health Insurance Research Database.A total of 19653patients newly using SSRIs and 78612 patients not using SSRIs,matched by age and sex at a ratio of 1:4, were enrolled in the study from January 1,2000 to December 31,*** patients were followed until IBS diagnosis,withdrawal from the National Health Insurance system,or the end of *** analyzed the effects of SSRIs on the risk of subsequent IBS using Cox proportional hazards regression *** A total of 236 patients in the SSRI cohort(incidence,2.17/1000 person-years)and 478 patients in the comparison cohort(incidence,1.04/1000 person-years)received a new diagnosis of *** mean follow-up period from SSRI exposure to IBS diagnosis was *** incidence of IBS increased with advancing *** with anxiety disorders had a significantly increased adjusted hazard ratio(a HR)of IBS(a HR=1.33,95%CI:1.11-1.59,P=0.002).After adjusting for sex,age,urbanization,family income,area of residence,occupation,the use of anti-psychotics and other comorbidities,the overall a HR in the SSRI cohort compared with that in the comparison cohort was1.74(95%CI:1.44-2.10;P<0.001).The cumulative incidence of IBS was higher in the SSRI cohort than in the non-SSRI cohort(log-rank test,P<0.001).CONCLUSION SSRI users show an increased risk of subsequent diagnosis of IBS in Taiwan.

To evaluate the papilla alterations around single-implant restorations in the anterior maxillae after crown attachment and to study the influence of soft tissue thickness on the papilla fill alteration. According to the inclusion criteria, 32 patients subjected to implant-supported single-tooth restorations in anterior maxillae were included. The patients were assigned to two groups according to the mucosal thickness：（i） group 1, 1.5 mm≤mucosal thickness≤3 mm; and （ii） group 2, 3 mm〈mucosal thickness≤4.5 mm. Assessments of interproximal papillae at the time of crown placement （baseline） and at 6-month postloading （follow-up） were made by two prosthodontists using papilla fill index （PFI）. The mean mucosal thickness was （2.49±0.31） mm （group 1） and （3.81±0.31） mm （group 2） for the two groups respectively. A significant difference in PFI between the groups was detected at the baseline （P〈O.O01）. PFI improvements over time occurred after 6-month follow-up irrespective of the groups. When compared to group 1, the likelihood to obtain papilla fill was significantly higher for group 2 with an odds ratio of 6.05 （P〈O.O01）. The interproximal papilla level around single-implant restorations could improve significantly over time after 6-month restoration according to PFI assessment. The thicker mucosa before implant placement implied a more favorable esthetic outcome in papilla alteration.

We report here a fast staining method for single-stranded DNA fixed on nitrocellulose membrane using M-meso-letra(3-N-methylpyridyl)-porphrin (M-TMPyP, M: Mn3, Fe3, Pt3). The optimal staining solution consists of 54-108 μg/ml M-TMPyP in 25～200 mmol/l. phosphate buffer solution (pH 5.0～8.0).When DNA dot on NC membrane is treated with the staining solution at room temperature for 1～2 minutes with continuous stirring, it turns to brown-yellow.10pg per dot of single-stranded DNA is visible. It is a useful tool to sludy the DNA blotting, and for recognition of the special bands of DNA in a complete electrophoretogram of DNA blot. The staining mechanism is also *** staining techniques of DNA play a important role in DNA blotting,display of DNA elcctophoretogram and location of the special DNA band from *** R.J. Fiel and co-workers[1] reported that meso-tetra(4-N-methylpyridyl) porphyrin can intercalale in calf thymus DNA. the intercalation between TMPyP-4 and DNA in solution has been intensively investigated by several groups[2～8],but none of them concerned with the interaction of metalloporphyrin and filterbound DNA. In this report, the use of M-TMPyP as a fast and sensitive staining reagent for single-strand DNA on NC membrane is described.

Fracture toughness determines materials＇ resistance to fracture, which is measured often using impact or bending tests. However, it is difficult to evaluate fracture toughness of coatings and small *** this article, using white irons as sample materials, we explore a possible approach of using electron work function（EWF） as an indicator in evaluating fracture toughness of hard metallic materials. This parameter is promising for being utilized to analyze toughness of protective coatings and small objects as well as bulk materials. Through comparison with results obtained from impact tests and elastic modulus measurement, effectiveness of this EWF approach is demonstrated.

A new spherical torus called VEST （Versatile Experiment Spherical Torus） is designed, constructed and successfully commissioned at Seoul National University. A unique design feature of the VEST is two partial solenoid coils installed at both vertical ends of a center stack, which can provide sufficient magnetic fluxes to initiate tokamak plasmas while keeping a low aspect ratio configuration in the central region. According to initial double null merging start-up scenario using the partial solenoid coils, apprdpriate p6wer supplies for driving a toroidal field coil, outer poloidal field coils, and the partial solenoid Coils are fabricated and successfully commissioned. For reliable start-up, a pre-ionization system with two cost-effective homemade magnetron power supplies is also prepared. In addition, magnetic and spectroscopic diagnostics with appropriate data acquisition and control systems are well prepared for initial operation of the device. The VEST is ready for tokamak plasma operation by completing and commissioning most of the designed components.

Purpose： The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of acute exercise on reaction time and response preparation during a Go/No Go Task in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder （ADHD）. Methods： Nineteen children with ADHD （aged between 8 and 12 years old） undertook a 30-min intervention that consisted of treadmill running or video-watching presented in a counterbalanced order on different days. A Go/No Go Task was administrated after exercise or video-watching. Results： The results indicated a shorter reaction time and smaller contingent negative variation （CNV） 2 amplitude following exercise relative to the video-watching. For event related potential （ERP） analyses, greater CNV l and CNV 2 amplitudes in response to No Go stimuli in com- parison to Go stimuli was observed in the video-watching session only. Conclusion： These findings suggest that acute exercise may benefit children with ADHD by developing appropriate response preparation, particularly in maintaining a stable motor preparatory set prior to performing the given task.
