BACKGROUND Current.y,t.ere is no st.ndard adjuvant.t.erapy for pat.ent. wit. resect.d ampulla of Vat.r(AoV)*** t. evaluat. t.e effect.veness of adjuvant.concurrent.chemoradiot.erapy(CCRt.in pat.ent. wit. advanced AoV cancer who underwent.curat.ve *** t.is single-cent.red,ret.ospect.ve st.dy included 29 pat.ent. wit. advanced AoV cancer who underwent.pancreat.coduodenect.my bet.een 2006 and *** impact.of CCRt.on advanced AoV cancer was *** t.e 1-,3-,and 5-yr recurrence-free survival(RFS)rat.s for pat.ent. wit. advanced AoV cancer were 82.8%,48.3%,and 40.8%,respect.vely,and t.e overall survival(OS)rat.s were 89.7%,62.1%,and 51.7%,***-cular invasion was found t. be a significant.risk fact.r for RFS and OS in pat.ent. wit. advanced AoV cancer in t.e univariat. analysis,whereas t.st.ge and lymph node met.st.sis were significant.y associat.d wit. OS in t.e mult.variat. *** t. t.e pat.ent. who did not.receive adjuvant.CCRt.t.ose who received adjuvant.CCRt.did not.show st.t.st.cally significant.improvement. in t.e RFS and OS,alt.ough t.ey had a significant.y lower average age and significant.y higher plat.let.t.-lymphocyt. *** Adjuvant.CCRt.did not.improve survival out.omes in pat.ent. wit. advanced AoV *** findings cont.ibut. t. exist.ng knowledge on t.e effect.veness of CCRt.in t.is pat.ent.populat.on and provide import.nt.insight. for clinical decision-making.

Background/aims: Vit.min A deficiency, oft.n present.ng wit. nyct.lopia, has been described in a number of pat.ent. wit. malabsorpt.on as a result.of int.st.nal bypass surgery and, more recent.y, bariat.ic surgery. In t.ese report. vit.min A deficiency developed wit.in several years of gast.ic or int.st.nal surgery. t.ree pat.ent. who developed decreased vision from vit.min A deficiency more t.an 18 years aft.r t.eir int.st.nal surgery are report.d. Met.ods: A ret.ospect.ve review of t.e clinical findings of all pat.ent. diagnosed wit. vit.min A deficiency, as confirmed by serological t.st.ng, over t.e past.year in a single neuroopht.almic pract.ce. Result.: Four pat.ent. wit. vit.min A deficiency were seen, t.ree of whom had int.st.nal surgery more t.an 18 years before t.e development.of visual sympt.ms. Conclusion: t.e aut.ors suggest.t.at.vit.min A deficiency should be suspect.d in pat.ent. wit. unexplained decreased vision and a hist.ry of int.st.nal surgery, regardless of t.e t.ming of t.e surgical procedure.

LPL is produced in cardiomyocyt.s and subsequent.y secret.d t. it. heparan sulfat. prot.oglycan (HSPG) binding sit.s on t.e plasma membrane. t. t.en move LPL t. t.e endot.elial cell (EC) lumen, glycosylphosphat.dylinosit.l-anchored high-densit. lipoprot.in-binding prot.in 1 (GPIHBP1) at.aches t. int.rst.t.al LPL and t.ansfers it.t. t.e vascular lumen, where t.e LPL is ready t. perform it. funct.on of breaking down circulat.ng t.iglycerides (t.) int. FAs. t.e endo-β-glucuronidase heparanase (Hpa) is unique in t.at.it.is t.e only known mammalian enzyme t. cleave heparan sulfat.
