The development of reliable catalysts with both excellent activity and recyclability for carbon dioxide(CO_(2))hydrogenation is ***,a ternary hybrid heterogeneous catalyst,involving mononuclear Ru complex,N,P-containing porous organic polymers(POPs),and mesoporous hollow carbon spheres(Ru^(3+)-POPs@mHCS)is reported for CO_(2)hydrogenation to *** on comprehensive structural analyses,we demonstrated that Ru^(3+)-POPs were successfully immobilized within *** optimized Ru^(3+)-0.5POPs@mHCS catalyst,which was obtained with about 5 wt.%Ru^(3+)and 0.5 mmol POPs polymers confined into 0.3 g mHCS,exhibited high catalytic activity for CO_(2)hydrogenation to formate(turnover number(TON)>1,200 for 24 h under mild reaction conditions(4.0 mPa,120℃))and improved durability,compared to Ru^(3+)catalysts without POPs polymers(Ru^(3+)-mHCS)and unencapsulated mHCS(Ru^(3+)-0.5POPs)*** improved catalytic performance is attributed to the high surface area and large pore volume of mHCS which favors dispersion and stabilization of Ru^(3+)-***,the mHCS and POPs showed high CO_(2)adsorption ***^(3+)-POPs encapsulated into mHCS reduces the activation energy barrier for CO_(2)hydrogenation to formate.

The balancing act of AKT in T cells

Abstract The serine/threonine-specific protein kinase AKT is gaining recognition as a major crossroad in numerous cellular signaling pathways through its ability to regulate cell differentiation, proliferation, survival and metabolism. This review focuses on the recent advances in AKT signaling and downstream events in T cells, emphasizing its contrasting role in conventional and regulatory （Treg） T cell populations. Activation of AKT has been known for many years to be critical in the development and function of conventional T cells. However, it has just recently been uncovered that AKT exerts an inhibitory effect on Treg generation and suppressor function. These studies have placed AKT at the nexus of Treg development and function, thus opening novel avenues for therapeutic manipulation.

Previous study has shown that during zygomorphic development in garden pea （Pisum sativum L.）, the organ internal （IN） asymmetry of lateral and ventral petals was regulated by a genetic locus, SYmmETRIC PETAL 1 （SYP1）, while the dorsoventral （DV） asymmetry was determined by two CYC-like TCP genes or the PsCYC genes, KEELED WINGS （K） and LOBED STANDARD 1 （LST1）. In this study, two novel loci, ELEPHANT EAR-LIKE LEAF 1 （ELE1） and ELE2 were characterized. These mutants exhibit a similar defect of IN asymmetry as syp1 in lateral and ventral petals, but also display pleiotropic effects of enlarged organ size. Genetic analysis showed that ELE1 and ELE2 were involved in same genetic pathway and the enlarged size of petals but not compound leaves in e/e2 was suppressed by introducing k and Ist1, indicating that the enlargement of dorsal petal in e/e2 requires the activities of K and LST1. An experimental framework of comparative genomic mapping approach was set up to map and clone LjELE1 locus in Lotus japonicus. Cloning the ELE1 gene will shed light on the underlying molecular mechanism during zygomorphic development and further provide the molecular basis for genetic improvement on legume crops.

Function coupling of otoferlin with GAD65 acts to modulate GABAergic activity

Otoferlin,an integral membrane protein implicated in a late stage of exocytosis,has been reported to play a critical role in hearing although the underlying mechanisms remain ***,its widespread tissue distribution infers a more ubiquitous role in synaptic vesicle ***,an excitatory neurotransmitter,is converted to its inhibitory counterpart,g-aminobutyric acid(GABA),by L-glutamic acid decarboxylase(GAD),which exists in soluble(GAD67)and membrane-bound(GAD65)*** the first time,we have revealed a close association between otoferlin and GAD65 in both HEK293 and neuronal cells,including SHSY5Y neuroblastoma and primary rat hippocampus cells,showing a direct interaction between GAD65 and otoferlin’s C2 *** primary rat hippocampus cells,otoferlin and GAD65 co-localized in a punctate pattern within the cell body,as well as in the axon along the path of vesicular ***,GABA is virtually abolished in otoferlin-knockdown neuronal cells whereas otoferlin overexpression markedly increases endogenous *** attenuation in otoferlin-knockdown primary cells is correlated with diminished L-type calcium *** previously unknown and close correlation demonstrates that otoferlin,through GAD65,modulates GABAergic *** discovery of otoferlin–GAD65 functional coupling provides a newavenue for understanding the molecular mechanism by which otoferlin functions in neurological pathways.

The role of low-density lipoprotein （LDL） and high-density lipoprotein （HDL） in comparison with whole egg yolk for sperm cryopreservation in rhesus monkeys

Low-density lipoprotein （LDL） extracted from hen egg yolk has recently been considered to be superior to whole egg yolk in sperm cryopreservation of various animal species. meanwhile, there was a notion that high-density lipoprotein （HDL） in egg yolk may have a negative effect on post-thaw survival. The role of LDL and HDL in sperm cryopreservation of rhesus monkeys has not been explored. The present study evaluates their effect in comparison with egg yolk with or without the addition of permeable cryoprotectant （glycerol） on sperm cryopreservation of rhesus macaques. In addition, various additives intended to change the lipid composition of LDL-sperm membrane complex have also been tested for their effectiveness in preserving post-thaw viability. Our findings indicated that LDL is the main component in egg yolk that is responsible for its protective role for sperm cryopreservation in rhesus monkeys. Regardless of the presence or absence of glycerol, the protective role of LDL is similar to that of egg yolk and we did not observe any superiority in post-thaw survival with LDL when compared to egg yolk. modifying the lipid composition of LDL-sperm membrane complex with the addition of cholesterol, cholesterol loaded cyclodextrin and phosphatidylcholine also did not yield any improvements in pest-thaw survival; while addition of methyl-β-cyclodextrin reduced post-thaw motility. HDL plays a neutral role in sperm cryopreservation of rhesus monkeys. The present study suggests that egg yolk may still hold advantages when compared with LDL as effective components in extenders for sperm cryopreservation in rhesus monkeys.
