Peroxisome proliferator activated receptors(PPARs) α,-γ and-β/δ are ligand-activated transcription factors and members of the superfamily of nuclear hormone receptor. These receptors play key roles in maintaining glucose and lipid homeostasis by modulating gene expression. PPARs constitute a recognized druggable target and indeed several classes of drugs used in the treatment of metabolic disease symptoms, such as dyslipidemia(fibrates, e.g. fenofibrate and gemfibrozil) and diabetes(thiazolidinediones, e.g. rosiglitazone and pioglitazone) are ligands for the various PPAR isoforms. More precisely, antidiabetic thiazolidinediones act on PPARγ, while PPARα is the main molecular target of antidyslipidemic fibrates. Over the past few years, our understanding of the mechanism underlying the PPAR modulation of gene expression has greatly increased. This review presents a survey on terrestrial and marine natural products modulating the PPARα system with the objective of highlighting how the incredible chemodiversity of natural products can provide innovative leads for this "hot" target.

African swine fever(ASF)is a highly lethal disease of domestic and wild swine caused by African swine fever virus(ASFV).The disease currently circulates in Africa,Europe,Asia and on the island of *** ongoing epizootics in Europe and Asia have produced millions of animal deaths and severe economic *** effective vaccine is available for ASF,making rapid and accurate detection of ASFV essential for disease mitigation *** available diagnostics for ASFV possess significant limitations related to assay performance,deployability,and/or turn-around time;therefore there is an unmet need for pen-side diagnostic tests with sufficient sensitivity and specificity.A chromatographic lateral flow immunoassay(LFIA)was developed for the detection of ASFV antigen in EDTA-treated whole blood using monoclonal antibodies targeting the viral p30 *** assay requires only water to perform and provides results in 25 min,making it well-suited for field *** LFIA was capable of detecting genotype I and genotype II strains of ASFV in EDTA blood from experimentally infected pigs at varying time-points after infection,though it was unable to detect a genotype X ASFV *** sensitivity correlated with clinical disease severity,body temperature,and viral DNA levels,and was over 90%in animals showing moderate to severe ASF-related symptoms after challenge with virulent genotype II *** LFIA also showed a robust diagnostic specificity of over 98%,which is essential to field testing for a high consequence to foregin animal *** LFIA targeting the viral p30 protein can reliably detect ASFV in whole blood from animals showing moderate to severe clinical signs of infection with virulent genotype I and II isolates,making it a promising candidate for use as a field-deployable antigen detection *** evaluation using field samples and different virus strains is required to further assess the utility of this rapid diagnostic test.

We study hearing in a group of infants with Breast-feeding jaundice (BFJ) by means of Transient-evoked otoacoustic emissions (T-EOE) and Brainstem auditory evoked potentials (BAEP) searching for relationship between bilirubin serum levels and auditory dysfunction. Eleven infants born at-term with BFJ were selected for the study. We studied also 11 control age- and gender matched healthy at-term infants without signs of jaundice. T-EOAE studies were performed between 5-7 days after birth, and 3 months later. BAEP studies were performed once. BFJ group infants exhibited lower amplitudes in T-EOE than infants in the control group. These differences disappear at the 3-month evaluation. In BAEP, we observed a significant latency delay of waves I and V in Breast-feeding jaundice group infants. All infants in both groups demonstrated reproducible wave V response at 30 decibels. No significant correlation values were observed between bilirubin serum levels and T-EOE and BAEP variables. Our data suggest that BFJ can result in transient peripheral and central auditory dysfunction. Dysfunction is reversible after treatment of infants with BFJ.

The ongoing trend of miniaturization has induced many developments towards size reduction of electronic components for highly integrated electronic *** meet the increasing requirements on the surface mount technology each step of the process chain has to be considered as well as cross-process *** process of solder paste printing occupies a key position in electronics production and will be focused in this *** on literature,about 50%to80%of all process defects originate in the stencil printing process[1–5].Despite the exact percentage of failures the process of stencil printing needs to be characterized for miniaturized printed structures as the complexity of this process step increases using materials for high integration like fine-grained solder paste materials and stencils with small openings of the *** this study,a double-sided FR4 printed circuit board was developed that allows numerous variations within the entire process chain of assembly and interconnection *** previous investigations on the printing process,the solder paste types were identified as a major effect,therefore different solder paste materials will be *** stencil foil thicknesses and aperture geometries are employed and *** alloy of the solder paste is a lead-free tin/silver/copper（SAC305）of type 4 as well as type *** stencils for the study are laser-cutted,nano-coated and optimized for small aperture geometries and aspect *** of the experiments are findings on process windows for components of the size 01005 for a secure printing *** give an outlook the results will be adapted for even smaller passive components as the component size of 03015mm and 008004,respectively.

The Bivalvia Class, is widely represented in marine ecosystems and is economically important;this research focused on this class and was carried out by sampling the rocky intertidal zone of seven sites located in the Marina Region Priority No. 32, Guerrero, Mexico, where the National Commission for the Knowledge and Use of Biodiversity reported lack of knowledge on marine species living there. The objectives were to examine species richness associated with the rocky intertidal zone, determine how the community is composed by the representation of families based on species richness and abundance, know the distribution of the species, analyze the structure sizes of populations and estimate the diversity index. Sampling was conducted at seven sites;the sampling unit was one square meter and the sampling area was 10 m2. 32 species were identified. Four species are new records for the Mexican Pacific Transitional: one for the state of Guerrero and one for Marine Priority Region 32. Arcidae and Mytilidae Families were better represented in species richness and Chamidae Family was the best represented in abundance. Chama coralloides was considered to be the representative species of the area;Striostrea prismatica showed the greatest size. The diversity index was estimated (H' = 3.65 bits/individuals). Species richness is high and corresponds to that expected in a tropical area.

Nylon is an important industrial material, and gamma irradiation is used for material modification. In this work, different gamma radiation dose were applied to crystalline fibres of nylon 6-12 at room temperature under argon atmosphere. Post-radiation effect was also studied, to know the effects of time. Some physical properties were measured obtaining the degree of modification with respect to the applied dose. X-ray values showed increment on the crystallinity and crystal size with dose increase up to 300 kGy. Brill Transition can be appreciated as a result of the in-situ X-ray with temperature study. Thermal analyses and AFM roughness measurements corroborate the modifying mechanisms in terms of the applied dose. For 15 and 50 kGy re-polymerization and crosslinking are the main mechanisms. Increment in the melting point at 15 kGy occurs, returning at 50 kGy to the original value. For 100 to 300 kGy the chain scission is the dominant mechanism because the melting point is lower than the original one. Both mechanisms take place in the amorphous zone.

To determine the prevalence of insul in resistance(IR)in women with polycystic ovary syndrom e(PCOS)using baseline fasting blood measurement s of glucose and *** clinical *** ic endocrinology unit in Palermo,*** hundred and sixty -sevenwomenwith PCOS,consecutively evaluated,and50consecutively se-lected ovulating *** blood was obtained for glucose and insulin measurements fr om all *** 60women with PCOS and 20controls an insulin tolerance test(ITT)was also *** of normal and ab-normal values for fasting insulin,g lucose /insulin ratio,and the calculated indices of the hom eostasis model as-sessment (HOMA),quantitative sensitivity check in dex(QUICKI ),as well as Kitt(kinetic disappearance of glu-cose)values after *** was performed of the ability to detect IR using these meth ods in obese and nonobese women with *** insulin sensitivity was defined by insulin levels6.4,HOMA values of*** the entire PCOS groups,IR w as diagnosed in 65.4%of women using glucose /insu lin ratios and in77%and 79.2%using HOMA and QUICKI.I n obese women(body mass index >28in 48%of group),IR was present in 76.7%as measured by gluco se /insulin ratios but was significantly higher(95.3%)using values of ei-ther HOMA or QUICKI (P<.01).All indices correlated with Kitt values with QUICKI showing the best *** resistance was detected in a pproximately 80%of women with PCOS,and in 95%of obese wo *** detection of IR is superior using the calculated indices HOMA and QUICKI.
