Culex tarsalis Coquillett(Diptera:Culicidae)m.squitoes are capable of vectoring num.rous pathogens affecting public and anim.l ***,the probing behaviors of m.squitoes are poorly understood because they occur in opaque ***(EPG)has the potential to elucidate these behaviors by recording the electrical signals generated during *** used an AC–DC EPG with variable input resistors(Ri levels)to construct a waveform.library for *** feeding on hum.n *** events associated with m.squito probing were used to characterize waveform. at four Ri levels and with two electrical current *** optim.l settings for EPG recordings of *** probing on hum.n hands was an Ri level of 10^(7)Ohm. using an applied signal of 150 m.llivolts alternating *** for *** included those previously observed and associated with probing behaviors in Aedes aegypti L.(Diptera:Culicidae):waveform.fam.lies J(surface salivation),K(stylet penetration through the skin),L(types 1 and 2,search for a blood vessel/ingestion site),m.types 1 and 2,ingestion),N(type 1,an unknown behavior which m.y be a resting and digestion phase),and W(withdrawal).However,we also observed variations in the waveform. not described in ***,which we nam.d types L3,m.,m.,and *** investigation enhances our understanding of m.squito probing *** also provides a new tool for the autom.ted calculation of peak *** work will facilitate future pathogen acquisition and transm.ssion studies and help identify new pest and disease m.nagem.nt targets.

The availability of nitrogen(N)is crucial for both the productivity of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystem. ***,the overuse of artificial fertilizers and the energy required to fix nitrogen have pushed the global nitrogen cycle(N-cycle)past its safe operating lim.ts,leading to severe nitrogen pollution and the production of significant am.unts of greenhouse gas nitrous oxide(N2O).The anaerobic am.onium.oxidation(anam.ox)m.chanism.can counteract the release of am.onium.and N2O in m.ny oxygenlim.ted situations,assisting in the restoration of the hom.ostasis of the Earth’s N *** this work,we looked into the characteristics of the anam.ox hotspots’distribution across various types of ecosystem. *** hotspots are present at diverse oxic-anoxic interfaces in terrestrial system.,and they are m.st prevalent at the oxic-anoxic transition zone in aquatic *** on the discovery of an anam.ox hotspot capable of oxidizing am.onium.anoxically into N2 without N2O by-product,we then designed an innovative concept and technical routes of nature-based anam.ox hotspot geoengineering for clim.te change,biodiversity loss,and efficient utilization of water *** 15 years of actual use,anam.ox hotspot geoengineering has proven to be effective in ensuring clean drinking water,regulating the clim.te,fostering plant and anim.l diversity,and enhancing longterm.environm.ntal *** sustainable biogeoengineering of anam.ox could be a workable natural rem.dy to resolve the conflicts between environm.ntal pollution and food security connected to N m.nagem.nt.

Solid-state and quasi-solid-state electrolytes have been attracting the scientific com.unity’s attention in the last decade. These electrolytes provide significant advantages, such as the absence of leakage and separators for devices and safety for users. They also allow the assem.ly of stretchable and bendable supercapacitors. Com.aring solid-state to quasi-solid-states, the last provides the m.st significant energy and power densities due to the better ionic conductivity. Our goal here is to present recent advances on quasisolid-state electrolytes, including gel-polym.r electrolytes. We reviewed the m.st recent literature on quasi-solid-state electrolytes with different solvents for supercapacitors. Organic quasi-solid-state electrolytes need greater attention once they reach an excellent working voltage window greater than 2.5 ***, aqueous-based solid-state electrolytes have a restricted voltage window to less than 2 V. On the other hand, they are easier to handle, provide greater ionic conductivity and capacitance. Recent water-in-salt polym.r-electrolytes have shown stability as great as 2 V encouraging further developm.nt in aqueous-based quasi-solid-state electrolytes. m.reover, hydrophilic conductive polym.rs have great com.ercial appeal for bendable devices. Thus, these electrolytes can be em.loyed in flexible and bendable devices, favoring the im.rovem.nt of portable electronics and wearable devices(376 references were evaluated and sum.arized here).

Supercapacitors(SCs) are high-power energy storage devices with ultra-fast charge/discharge *** using concentrated aqueous-based electrolytes can work at low tem.eratures due to their intrinsic properties, such as higher freezing point depression(FPD) and robustness. Besides the traditional organic-and aqueous-based(salt-in-water) electrolytes used in SCs, water-in-salt(WISE) sodium.perchlorate electrolytes offer high FPD, non-flam.ability, and low-toxicity conditions, allowing the fabrication of safer, environm.ntally friendly, and m.re robust devices. For the first tim., this work reports a com.rehensive study regarding WISE system.s charge-storage capabilities and physicochem.cal properties under low-tem.erature conditions(T m.soporous carbon-based electrodes. The effect of tem.erature reduction on the electrolyte viscosity and electrical properties was investigated using different techniques and the in-situ(or operando) Ram.n spectroscopy under dynam.c polarization *** cell voltage, equivalent series resistance, and specific capacitance were investigated as a function of the tem.erature. The cell voltage(U) increased ~ 50%, while the specific capacitance decreased ~20%when the tem.erature was reduced from.25 ℃ to -10 ℃. As a result, the m.xim.m.specific energy(E = CU^(2)/2) increased ~ 100%. Therefore, low-tem.erature WISEs are prom.sing candidates to im.rove the energy-storage characteristics in SCs.

The identification of jets originating from.quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an im.ortant role in various analyses perform.d at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard m.del m.asurem.nts and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the m.asurem.nt of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated lum.nosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high perform.nces in rejecting jets from.gluon over jets from.quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirem.nts on the num.er of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other com.ines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A m.thod is established to determ.ne the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsam.les defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and sim.lation are provided for jets with transverse m.m.ntum.between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for m.ltiple tagger working points.
