The need to develop armour systems to protect against attacks from various sources is increasingly a matter of personal,social and national *** develop innovative armour systems it is necessary to monitor developments being made on the type,technology and performance of the threats(weapons,projectiles,explosives,etc.) Specifically,the use of high protection level helmets on the battlefield is *** development of evaluation methods that can predict injuries and trauma is therefore of major ***,the risk of injuries or trauma that can arise from induced accelerations is an additional *** develop new materials and layouts for helmets it is necessary to study the effects caused by ballistic impacts in the human head on various *** use of numerical simulation is a fundamental tool in this *** work here presented focuses on the use of numerical simulation(finite elements analysis) to predict the consequences of bullet impacts on military helmets on human *** main objectives are to assess the level and probability of head trauma using the Head Injury criterion,caused by the impact of a 9 mm NATO projectile on a pASGT helmet and to quantify the relevance of projectile plasticity on the whole modelling *** accelerations derived from the impact phenomenon and the deformations caused on the helmet are evaluated using fully three-dimensional models of the helmet,head,neck and *** studies are done at impact angles ranging from 0 to 75°.Results are presented and discussed in terms of HIc and probability of acceleration induced trauma *** comparison analyses are done using a rigid and a deformable projectile and it is observed that plastic deformation of the projectile is a significant energy dissipation mechanism in the whole impact process.

With the recent observational evidence in extragalactic astronomy,the interpretation of the nature of quasar redshift continues to be a research *** high redshifts are being detected for extragalactic objects that are presumably very distant and young while also exhibiting properties that are characteristic of a more mature galaxy such as *** to Halton Arp and Geoffrey Burbidge,redshift disparities consist of an intrinsic component and are related to an evolutionary *** observed redshift periodicity at integer multiples of0.089 in log scale and Burbidge observed redshift periodicity at integer multiples of 0.061 in linear *** Singular Value Decomposition based periodicity estimation is known to be superior for noisy data sets,especially when the data contain multiple harmonics and overtones,mainly irregular in nature,we have chosen it to be our primary tool for analysis of the quasar-galaxy pair redshift *** have observed a fundamental periodicity of0.051 with a confidence interval of 95%in linear scale with the site-available Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 7(SDSS DR7)quasar-galaxy pair data *** have independently generated quasar-galaxy pair data sets from both 2d F and SDSS and found fundamental periodicities of 0.077 and 0.089,respectively,in log scale with a confidence interval of 95%.

AIM Influence of chronic hyperglycemia on chemical coding of enteric neurons in stomach using pig as a model for human diabetic *** Ten pigs were divided into two groups: diabetic(D group,n = 5) and control(c group,n = 5). pigs constituting the experimental group were given streptozotocin(150 mg/kg). Animals were euthanized six weeks after the induction of diabetes. The samples of stomach were collected from animals of both groups. The cryostat sections were processed for double immunofluorescence staining using primary antisera directed towards pan-neuronal marker(Hu c/D) proteins and/or neuronal isoform of nitric oxide synthase(n NOS),vasoactive intestinal peptide(VIp) and galanin(GAL). RESULTS In the control group in the myenteric ganglia(MG) of the corpus we have noted 22.28% ± 1.19% of n NOS positive neurons,while in diabetic group we have found 40.74% ± 2.22% of n NOS immunoreactive perikarya(increase by 82.85 %). In turn in the pylorus we have observed 15.91% ± 0.58% n NOS containing neurons in control animals and 35.38% ± 1.54% in the diabetes group(increase by 122.37%). In the MG of the antrum and submucosal ganglion(SG) in the corpus hyperglycemia did not cause statistically significant changes. With regard to VIp-positive cell bodies in the antrum MG in the control animals we have noted 18.38 ± 1.39% and 40.74% ± 1.77% in the experimental group(increase by 121.65%). While in the corpus we have observed 23.20% ± 0.23% in the control and 30.93% ± 0.86% in the diabetes group(increase by 33.31%). In turn in the pylorus VIp positive cells bodies constituted 23.64% ± 1.56% in the control group and 31.20% ± 1.10% in the experimental group(increase by 31.97%). In the submucosal ganglion in the corpus we have noted 43.61% ± 1.06% in the control animals and 37.00% ± 1.77% in the experimental group(decrease by 15.15%). 北祁连造山带是早古生代大洋板块"冷"俯冲的典型地区,形成了一系列高压低温变质的岩石组合。基性榴辉岩是俯冲洋壳变质的产物,根据其结构构造特征可以划分为(1)粒状榴辉岩,峰期变质矿物组合为Grt+Omp+phn+Rut±Lws,硬柱石呈包裹体和假象分布于石榴石内,变质温压条件T=465～508℃,p=2.30～2.60Gpa。(2)片状榴辉岩,岩石具片状构造,其共生矿物组合Omp+czo/Ep+phn+Gln构成透入性面理S_1和线理L_1,以及宏观和显微同斜褶皱F_1。其峰期变质温压条件为T=466～510℃,p=1.9～2.2Gpa。(3)蓝片岩相退化变质榴辉岩,蓝片岩相变质矿物Gln+Ep+phn±Ab强烈交代榴辉岩相矿物,并发生强烈D_2期变形作用,岩石形成明显的透入性面理S_2和线理L_2,以及同斜剪切褶皱F_2。蓝闪石和多硅白云母线理的统计揭示D_2期变形以斜向走滑剪切为主,与D_1期变形的榴辉岩的运动学特征大体相似。D_2同变质的温压条件为T=422～487℃,p=1.15～1.37Gpa。高压变质带晚期的绿片岩相叠加和D_3期变形,形成透入性面理S_3和线理L_3,其运动特征为近于垂直构造线的逆冲剪切。结合榴辉岩变形特征,变质温压条件和同位素年代学资料,我们认为退变质的强弱与变形程度有密切关系。峰期变质后的榴辉岩经过早期绿帘石榴辉岩相到蓝片岩相斜向走滑剪切,和晚期绿片岩相逆冲,在泥盆纪早期快速折返的出露地表。

An unusual resonance feature of the photodetachment cross-section for the 3σu channel of F2- observed in the early static-exchange study is confirmed by using correlated target (F2) wavefunctions determined by configuration interaction (cI). The magnitude of the cross-sections is lowered from that in earlier calculation by the potential of the correlated target.

Investigation of HcaR2 antagonists as a potential strategy to modulate bovine leukocytes

Background Dairy cows experiencing ketosis after calving suffer greater disease incidence and are at greater risk of leaving the herd. In vitro administration of beta-hydroxybutyric acid(BHBA;the primary blood ketone) has inhibitory effects on the function of bovine leukocytes. BHBA is a ligand of HcaR2 and the activation of these receptors promotes an anti-inflammatory response which may be related with immunosuppression observed in transition dairy cattle. The objective of this study was to identify and test antagonists for HcaR2 in bovine immune cells cultured with *** We observed expression of HcaR2 at the protein level within lymphocytes, monocytes, and granulocytes. The proportion of cells expressing HcaR2 tended to be greater in mid-lactation compared to early lactation cows;the increase was a result of increased proportion of T and B cells expressing HcaR2. Stimulation of HcaR2 with niacin or BHBA promoted ca^(2+) mobilization in neutrophils and mononuclear cells. Mononuclear cells treated with BHBA had diminished intracellular ca^(2+) responses when HcaR2 was knocked down by si RNA silencing, indicating ca^(2+) mobilization was mediated by HcaR2 signaling. Two candidate antagonists for HcaR2, synthesized from niacin(NA-1 and NA-5), were tested;monocytes and neutrophils pre-treated with NA-1 and NA-5 had reduced ca^(2+) mobilization after incubation with BHBA. Furthermore, NA-5 but not NA-1 prevented BHBA-associated reductions in cyclic *** We demonstrated that HcaR2 is present on bovine leukocytes and has greater expression later in lactation. We confirmed that BHBA and niacin derived HcaR2 antagonists alter bovine leukocyte activity. Our results demonstrate that both BHBA and niacin affect bovine leukocyte ca^(2+) mobilization in a HcaR2-dependent manner.

Internet-based collaborative pseudo-dynamic testing of multi-span bridge structure

In this paper, the first Internet-based collaborative pseudo-dynamic testing of a multi-span bridge system in china’s mainland is presented in detail, which has been carried out by the collaboration of Hunan University (HNU), Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) and Tsinghua University (TU) in china’s mainland, and the University of Southern california (USc) in the USA. The prototype system of Russion River Bridge at Southern california in America is illustrated. Different testing specimens, testing equipments and substructure boundary conditions at HNU and HIT laboratories are described. A network protocol platform for collaborative pseudo-dynamic testing, called NetSLab, and some function modules developed on the use of its standardized interface are introduced. Aiming at the MTS system widely used in structural testing, two approaches are presented to implement the communication interface between NetSLab and testing equipment, respectively, studied by HNU and HIT. The integrated networked testing system and collaborative testing procedures are presented. The testing results manifest that the networked collaborative testing system with powerful capability provides a testing platform with good coordination for complex models or actual structures, and achieves remote sharing of testing equipments.

The pdI_(2)/KI-catalyzed oxidative carbonylation of 4-(2-aminophenyl)-3-yn-1-ols,bearing two potential nucleophilic groups in suitable position selectively leads to dihydrofuroquinolinone derivatives in fair to high yields(60%—89%)and excellent turnover numbers(180—267 mol of product per mol of pd)over 19 examples,through a mechanistic pathway involving initial O-cyclization followed by *** such process,the selective catalytic construction of two rings and three new bonds is achieved in one synthetic step to afford high value added fused heterocyclic structures starting from readily available materials.

crystal structure and luminescence dynamics of highly pure LiM(pO_(3))_(3):Eu^(3+)(M=Sr,ca) red phosphors for white light emitting diodes

Highly pure red phosphors LiM(pO_(3))_(3):Eu^(3+)(M=Sr,ca) doped with Eu^(3+)(1 mol%) were synthesized via solution combustion method and their crystal structure and luminescence dynamics were studied to explore its suitability in white light emitting *** Rietveld refinement analysis of the powder Xray diffraction patterns reveals that the phosphors belong to the pure triclinic phase of LiSr(pO_(3))_(3) and Lica(pO_(3)) with space group p-1(2).The scanning electron microscopy images showed the agglomerated *** photoluminescence emission spectra under 393 nm show an orange band at 594 nm and a red band at 613 nm ascribed to ^(5)D_(0)→^(7)F_(1).^(5)D_(0)→^(7)F_(2) transitions of Eu^(3+)ion in both the ***,the spectroscopic properties such as luminescence behaviour,and Stark splitting were used to examine the symmetry of Eu^(3+)ions in LiM(pO_(3))_(3):Es^(3+)(M=Sr,ca) phosphors in terms of distortion induced upon *** Stark splitting shows that the actual site symmetry for Eu^(3+)ion was estimated to be D_(2) type for both *** photometric properties of Lica(pO_(3))_(3):Eu^(3+)such as commission International de l'Eclairage coordinates(x=0.64,y=0.36) near to the standard one(red),high color purity(95%) and higher brightness reveal that the phosphor has the capability of acting as a red component in n-UV white light emitting diodes.

Effect of stress-dependent microannulus aperture on well leakage

Debonding at the cement-casing interface is recognized as a principal failure mechanism leading to cO_(2) leakage in *** detachment gives rise to a microannulus,which notably possesses greater permeability than undamaged cement,undermining its sealing ***,the permeability of the microannulus is regarded as a uniform value throughout the ***,fundamentally,a microannulus is one type of fracture,and its gap or aperture size is affected by the effective *** this work,we developed a unique experimental *** equipment facilitates the curing of cement inside a steel casing,the formation of a microannulus between the casing and the cement,and the investigation of the fluid flow dynamics along the microannulus under laboratory-replicated in situ *** microannulus was formed by injecting fluid from one end of the setup,and receiving similar amount of fluid on the other end signified the development of the leakage ***,strain gauges affixed to the casing’s external surface yielded key information on the microannulus’s opening and *** observed a noticeable decline in microannulus hydraulic aperture(or permeability)in relation to effective stress and an exponential equation fits their *** findings also indicate a distinct behavior when comparing liquid cO_(2) with ***,it is easier for liquid cO_(2) to create the ***,the hydraulic aperture range for this microannulus(0.7-6 mm)is considerably smaller than that created by water flow(2-17 mm).Finally,we integrated the stressdependent microannulus aperture size into the combined analysis of well mechanical integrity and well *** outcomes consistently demonstrated that when factoring in the stress-dependent aperture sizes,the leakage rates are 3e5 times compared to a fixed aperture *** traditional assumption of a constant aperture significantly underestimates fluid leakage risks.
