International student mobility figures have exponentially increased over the years,doubling from 2.1 million in 2000 to close to 5 million in 2014 *** OEcD projects this figure to reach 8 million in *** opening up its market in 1978 and making rapid developments in its economy,china has seen remarkable progress in its education *** much so,it has recently emerged as one of the top ten destinations for international students *** central objective of this paper hence,is to examine the rise of china as major host destination for international student *** the theoretical approach of a developmental state,china’s rise would be attributed to its strategies employed by the chinese state and universities that are used to enhance or create its attraction factors（otherwise known as “pull” factors）as identified in international student opinion surveys,that are of economic,educational and socio-cultural *** supplementing the above primary objective,the paperthen demonstrates that china’s success in the international student education market owing to the choice of strategies and motivations are indeed ***,itdeviates from the global neo-liberalism ideology,which otherwise sees pursuit of economic gain as ***-medium master programmes are also an emerging trend amongst chinese universities in attracting international *** paper will add on to the scarce literature available by prescribing some exploratory factors as to why some of these new programmes are more successful in attracting international students than others,through case studies of four such programmes that are from two c9 universities.

幽门螺杆菌（helicobacter pylori，Hp）是全球范围内具有高感染率的慢性感染性致病菌。Hp感染是感染性疾病，没有“携带状态”，Hp感染不存在垂直传染。中国Hp感染流行病学荟萃分析显示，新生儿Hp尿素酶-IgG（HpU-IgG）抗体总阳性率为56．51％，至6个月后降为10．02％，此后感染率随年龄增长迅速上升，1～5岁组感染率为39．55％，6—10岁组为42．04％，11—20岁组为53．38％，21～30岁组为65．75％，达到高峰阶段，以后均维持在此高水平。

The current therapeutic regimen to combat chronic hepatitis c is not optimal due to substantial side effects and the failure of a significant proportion of patients to achieve a sustained virological response. Recently developed direct-acting antivirals targeting hepatitis c virus (HcV) enzymes reportedly increase the virologic response to therapy but may lead to a selection of drug-resistant variants. Besides direct-acting antivirals, another promising class of HcV drugs in development include host targeting agents that are responsible for interfering with the host factors crucial for the viral life cycle. A family of host proteins known as DEAD-box RNA helicases, characterized by nine conserved motifs, is known to play an important role in RNA metabolism. Several members of this family such as DDX3, DDX5 and DDX6 have been shown to play a role in HcV replication and this review will summarize our current knowledge on their interaction with HcV. As chronic hepatitis c is one of the leading causes of hepatocellular carcinoma, the involvement of DEAD-box RNA helicases in the development of Hcc will also be highlighted. continuing research on the interaction of host DEAD-box proteins with HcV and the contribution to viral replication and pathogenesis could be the panacea for the development of novel therapeutics against HcV.

This work highlights the evidential value of examining plastic drinking straws to establish linkages between multiple sources for forensic intelligence,investigative or prosecution *** drinking straws are commonly encountered in drug cases,either as inhalational paraphernalia or as packaging ***,to the best of our knowledge,systematic studies on the evidential value of straws have not previously been carried *** this study,over 80 packets of clear and colourless straws—most of which were visually similar—were purchased from various commercial outlets in *** physical characteristics(viz.,polarizing patterns,thickness,circumference and mass per unit length)and the manufactur-ing marks of these straws were examined to assess their potentials for discriminating straws from different *** of polarizing patterns yielded a discrimination of approximately 69%,while thickness,circumference,and mass per unit length measurements resulted in lower *** microscopy of manufacturing marks was found to be the most discriminating among all techniques employed herein,with a discrimination of about 95%,even among straws with similar polarizing patterns.

Precise manipulation and monitoring spin transport in one-dimensional (1D) systems is a long-sought goal in the field of nano-spintronics. Based on first-principles calculations, we report the observation of half-integer conductance quantization in the cobalt-fulvalene sandwich nanowire. compared with a pure monatomic cobalt wire, the introduction of fulvalene molecules leads to threeimportant features: Firstly, the strong coupling between the fulvalene and the cobalt prevents the contamination of the ambientair, ensuring both chemical and physical stabilities;Secondly, the fulvalene symmetry-selectively filters out most of the d-typeorbitals of the cobalt while leaving a single d-type orbital to form an open spin channel around the Fermi level, which offers amechanism to achieve the observed half-integer conductance;Thirdly, it maintains a superexchange coupling between adjacent coatoms to achieve a high curie temperature. Spin transport calculations show that this half-metallic nanowire can serve as a perfectspin filter or a spin valve device, thus revealing the potential of cobalt-fulvalene sandwich nanowire as a promising building blockof high-performance spintronics technology.

AIM: To compare quality of life (QoL) outcomes in chinese patients after curative laparoscopic vs open surgery for rectal cancer. METHODS: Eligible chinese patients with rectal cancer undergoing curative laparoscopic or open sphincterpreserving resection between July 2006 and July 2008 were enrolled in this prospective study. The QoL outcomes were assessed longitudinally using the validated chinese versions of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of cancer QLQ-c30 and QLQcR38 questionnaires before surgery and at 4, 8, and 12 mo after surgery. The QoL scores at the different time points were compared between the laparoscopic and open groups. A higher score on a functional scale indicated better functioning, whereas a higher score on a symptom scale indicated a higher degree of ***: Seventy-four patients (49 laparoscopic and 25 open) were enrolled. The two groups of patients were comparable in terms of sociodemographic data, types of surgery, tumor staging, and baseline mean QoL scores. There was no significant decrease from baseline in global QoL for the laparoscopic group at different time points, whereas the global QoL was worse compared to baseline beginning at 4 mo but returned to baseline by 12 mo for the open group (P = 0.019, Friedman test). compared to the open group, the laparoscopic group had significantly better physical (89.9±1.4 vs 79.2±3.7, P = 0.016), role (85.0±3.4 vs 63.3±6.9, P = 0.005), and cognitive (73.5±3.4 vs 50.7±6.2, P = 0.002) functioning at 8 mo, fewer micturition problems at 4-8 mo (4 mo: 32.3±4.7 vs 54.7±7.1, P = 0.011; 8 mo: 22.8±4.0 vs 40.7±6.9, P = 0.020), and fewer male sexual problems from 8 mo onward (20.0±8.5 vs 76.7±14.5, P = 0.013). At 12 mo after surgery, no significant differences were observed in any functional or symptom scale between the two groups, with the exception of male sexual problems, which remained worse in the open group (29.2±11.3 vs 80.0±9.7, P = 0.026). cONcLUSION: Laparoscopic sphin
