Alternative relay regulates the adenosine triphosphatase activity of Locusta migratoria striated muscle myosin

Locust(Locusta migratoria)has a single striated muscle myosin heavy chain(Mhc)gene,which contains 5 clusters of alternative exclusive exons and 1 differently included penultimate *** alternative exons of Mhc gene encode 4 distinct regions in the myosin motor domain,that is,the N-terminal SH3-like domain,one lip of the nucleotide-binding pocket,the relay,and the ***,we investigated the role of the alternative regions on the motor function of locust muscle *** Sf9-baculovirus protein expression system,we expressed and purified 5 isoforms of the locust muscle myosin heavy meromyosin(HMM),including the major isoform in the thorax dorsal longitudinal flight muscle(FL1)and 4 isoforms expressed in the abdominal intersegmental muscle(AB1 to AB4).Among these 5 HMMs,FL1-HMM displayed the highest level of actin-activated adenosine triphosphatase(ATPase)activity(hereafter referred as ATPase activity).To identify the alternative region(s)responsible for the elevated ATPase activity of FL1-HMM,we produced a number of chimeras of FL1-HMM and *** with the relay of AB4-HMM(encoded by exon-14c)substantially decreased the ATPase activity of FL1-HMM,and conversely,the relay of FL1-HMM(encoded by exon-14a)enhanced the ATPase activity of *** showed that the exon-14a-encoded residues Gly474 and Asn509 are responsible for the elevated ATPase activity of *** results indicate that the alternative relay encoded by exon-14a/c play a key role in regulating the ATPase activity of FL1-HMM and AB4-HMM.

Heterointerface engineering of rhombic Rh nanosheets confined on MXene for efficient methanol oxidation

Although metallic rhodium(Rh)is regarded as a promising platinum-alternative anode catalyst of direct methanol fuel cell(DMFc),the conventional"particle-to-face"contact model between Rh and matrix largely limits the overall electrocatalytic performance due to their insufficient cooperative ***,we report a controllable and robust heterointerface engineering strategy for the bottom-up fabrication of rhombic Rh nanosheets in situ confined on Ti_3c_(2)T_x MXene nanolamellas(Rh NS/MXene)via a convenient stereoassembly *** unique design concept gives the resulting 2D/2D Rh NS/MXene heterostructure intriguing textural features,including large accessible surface areas,strong"face-toface"interfacial interactions,homogeneous Rh nanosheet distribution,ameliorative electronic structure,and high electronic *** a consequence,the as-prepared Rh NS/MXene nanoarchitectures exhibit exceptional electrocatalytic methanol oxidation properties in terms of a large electrochemically active surface area of 126.2 m~2 g_(Rh)~(-1),a high mass activity of 1056.9 mA mg_(Rh)-~1,and a long service life,which significantly outperform those of conventional particle-shaped Rh catalysts supported by carbon black,carbon nanotubes,reduced graphene oxide,and MXene matrixes as well as the commercial Pt nanoparticle/carbon black and Pd nanoparticle/carbon black catalysts with the same noble metal loading *** functional theory calculations further demonstrate that the direct electronic interaction at the well-contacted 2D/2D heterointerfaces effectively enhances the adsorption energy of Rh nanosheets and induces a left shift of the d-band center,thereby making the Rh NS/MXene configuration suffer less from cO *** work highlights the importance of rational heterointerface design in the construction of advanced noble metal/MXene electrocatalysts,which may provide new avenues for developing the next-generation DMFc devices.

Mottled dolomite in the lower cambrian Longwangmiao formation in the Northern Sichuan Basin, South china

At the end of Early cambrian time, the Sichuan basin（South china） was located in a wide carbonate platform, with hundreds of meters of carbonate deposited. The Longwangmiao Formation carbonate in Sichuan basin is partially to completely dolomitized, displaying a mottled texture in the northern area of the exposure. The mottled dolomitic limestone developed parallel to bedding, with shape irregular boundaries with limestone that has not been dolomitized. The mottled dolomite is composed of powder crystalline and finely crystalline dolomite, while the matrix limestone is composed of micritic calcite. the isotopic composition of mottled dolomite(δ13c = +0.29‰PDB, δ18O =-1.15‰PDB) is similar to that of micrite calcite(δ13c =-0.49‰PDB, δ18O =-1.45‰PDB). Both isotopic values and trace element data indicate that the dolomitized fluid is originated from sea water. Some beds contain gypsum pseudomorphs and mud cracks, indicating a shallow and evaporative environment with local high salinity during deposition. Dolomitization likely took place early, in part as a result of sea water salinity concentration. Trace fossils thalassinoides horizontalis, thalassinoides callianassa and planolites developed in the Longwangmiao Formation, and the sharp edges of mottled dolomite are similar to these trace fossils. The beds are intensely bioturbated. In the burrow network, the sediments and burrow fill were coarse and loose with little clay, and it is interpreted here as being easier to be dolomitized than the surrounding *** dolomitization is thus interpreted to have occurred in the burrow system, and the degree of dolomitization was related to the degree of bioturbation, which is controlled by the trace-making creatures.

coordination polymerization of renewable β-ocimene has been investigated using asymmetric diiminophosphinate lutetium complex1, β-diketiminate yttrium complex 2, bis(phosphino)carbazolide yttrium complex 3, half-sandwich benzyl fluorenyl scandium complex 4 and pyridyl-methylene-fluorenyl rare-metal complexes 5a–5c. complexes 1, 4 and 5a–5c show trans-1,2-regioselectivities and high activities, of which 5c exhibits excellent isoselectivity(mmmm>99%). conversely, complexes 2 and 3 promote β-ocimene polymerization to produce isotactic cis-1,4-polyocimenes(cis-1,4>99%, mm>95%). Diblock copolymers cis-1,4-PIP-block-cis-1,4-POc and cis-1,4-PBD-block-cis-1,4-POc are obtained in one-pot reactions of β-ocimene with isoprene and butadiene using complex 3. Epoxidation and hydroxylation of polyocimene afford functionalized polyolefins with enhanced T_(g)(from-20 ℃ to 79 ℃ and 74 ℃) and hydrophilicity.

Microstructure,elastic/mechanical and thermal properties of crTaO_(4):A new thermal barrier material?

crTaO_(4)(or cr_(0.5)Ta_(0.5)O_(2))has been unexpectedly found to play a decisive role in improving the oxidation resistance of cr and Ta-containing refractory high-entropy alloys(RHEAs).This rarely encountered complex oxide can effectively prevent the outward diffusion of metal cations from the ***,the oxidation kinetics of crTaO_(4)-forming RHEAs is comparable to that of the well-known oxidation resistant cr_(2)O_(3)-and Al_(2)O_(3)-forming Ni-based ***,crTaO_(4)has been ignored and its mechanical and thermal properties have yet to be *** fill this research gap and explore the untapped potential for its applications,here we report for the first time the microstructure,mechanical and thermal properties of crTaO_(4)prepared by hot-press sintering of solid-state reaction synthesized *** the HAADF and ABF-STEM techniques,rutile crystal structure was confirmed and short range ordering was directly *** addition,segregation of Ta and cr was ***,crTaO_(4)exhibits elastic/mechanical properties similar to those of yttria stabilized zirconia(YSZ)with Young’s modulus,shear modulus,and bulk modulus of 268,107,and 181 GPa,respectively,and Vickers hardness,flexural strength,and fracture toughness of 12.2±0.44 GPa,142±14 MPa,and 1.87±0.074 MPa·m^(1/2).The analogous elastic/mechanical properties of crTaO_(4)to those of YSZ has spurred inquiries to lucrative leverage it as a new thermal barrier *** measured melting point of crTaO_(4)is 2103±20 *** anisotropic thermal expansion coefficients areα_(a)=(5.68±0.10)×10^(-6)K^(-1),α_(c)=(7.81±0.11)×10^(-6)K^(-1),with an average thermal expansion coefficient of(6.39±0.11)×10^(-6)K^(-1).The room temperature thermal conductivity of crTaO_(4)is 1.31 W·m^(-1)·K^(-1)and declines to 0.66 W·m^(-1)·K^(-1)at 1473 K,which are lower than most of the currently well-known thermal barrier *** the perspective of matched thermal expansion coefficient,crTaO_(4)per
