Assessment of Deformation of Shear Localized chip in High Speed Machining

As the cutting speed goes higher, the mechanism of chip deformation will be changed significantly, i.e., continuous chip in low cutting speed will shift to serrated chip with shear localization. For the shear localized chip, the parameters used to assess the chip deformation for continuous chip, such as shorten coefficient ξ, shear angle φ and shear strain ε, can not describe the chip deformation correctly or comprehensively. This paper deals with the assessment of chip deformation of shear localization. There are two deformation regions in shear localized chip, one is the chip segment body with relative smaller plastic deformation, another one is the boundary between segments with shear localization, so called shear band. considering the two distinct deformation regions, two parameters are used to define their deformation respectively. According to the analysis of chip formation process, the equations have been deduced to calculate the shear strains of shear band ε, shear strain of chip segment ε 1 and shear rate so that the shear localized chip deformation can be assessed correctly and comprehensively. By use of this assessment, the chip deformation in machining selenium treated stainless steel (STSS) and common stainless steel at various cutting conditions is investigated. The experiment results obtained by the machining of stainless steel prove that: (1) the shear strain and strain rate increase with the increasing of cutting speed; (2) the shear strain in shear band can be over 10 when cutting speed exceeding 200 m/min for both types of stainless steel, and it is much higher than the strain of chip segment. The difference will be enlarged as the cutting speed increasing; (3) As the comparison, the shear strain for the STSS is a little lower than that for JIS304; (4) The stain rate is extremely high (= 2.5×10 5 1/s ). Mortality assessment for pancreas transplants in the United States over the decade 2008-2018

BAcKGROUND Pancreas transplant is the only treatment that establishes normal glucose levels for patients diagnosed with ***,since 2005,no comprehensive analysis has compared survival outcomes of:(1)Simultaneous pancreas-kidney(SPK)transplant;(2)Pancreas after kidney(PAK)transplant;and(3)Pancreas transplant alone(PTA)to waitlist *** To explore the outcomes of pancreas transplants in the United States during the decade *** Our study utilized the United Network for Organ Sharing Standard Transplant Analysis and Research ***-and post-transplant recipient and waitlist characteristics and the most recent recipient transplant and mortality status were *** included all patients with type I diabetes listed for pancreas or kidneypancreas transplant between May 31,2008 and May 31,*** were grouped into one of three transplant types:SPK,PAK,or *** The adjusted cox proportional hazards models comparing survival between transplanted and non-transplanted patients in each transplant type group showed that patients who underwent an SPK transplant exhibited a significantly reduced hazard of mortality[hazard ratio(HR)=0.21,95%confidence intervals(cI):0.19-0.25]compared to those not *** PAK transplanted patients(HR=1.68,95%cI:0.99-2.87)nor PTA patients(HR=1.01,95%cI:0.53-1.95)experienced significantly different hazards of mortality compared to patients who did not receive a *** When assessing each of the three transplant types,only SPK transplant offered a survival advantage compared to patients on the waiting *** and PTA transplanted patients demonstrated no significant differences compared to patients who did not receive a transplant.

The Medicinal Flora of Sambalpur District,Orissa,India

This paper describes an analysis of the plants of Sambalpur district of Orissa,India which have been used medicinally by local people. The families having medicinal values are analysed using Moerman's method of regression analysis. There were 136 plant families recorded from the study area. The analysis of families showed that the Euphorbiaceae family being used most ethnomedicinally by the local people in Sambalpur district of Orissa,whereas Poaceae is used least one. This type of study determines the degree of importance of plant families in the medicinal flora of the region.

Symptoms of spinal dysfunction mimicking systemic diseases(Ogundana Syndrome):a review of 35 cases treated with manual therapy over 30 years

Objective and Method:Symptoms manifesting in other parts of the body signaling the existence of spinal dysfunction(Ogundana Syndrome)in patients(N=35,age range 20-56yrs;mean age 36yrs)diagnosed to have systemic diseases but treated with manual therapy were identified after a 30 year case note ***:Incipient parkinsonism(general edema and expressionless mask face),stroke(weakness of one side of the body),tinnitus(headache with noise in one or both ears),breast cancer(breast pain)and dyspnea(difficulty in breathing)were some physician diagnoses and clinical symptoms *** percent rate occurrence was noted affecting significantly more females(74%)than males(26%,Pck pain(66%)engaged in low income occupations(farming 40%,trading 25%,artisans 15% and civil servants 20%).Symptoms got better after vertical oscillatory pressure therapy to appropriate spinal *** of treatment was influenced by duration of spinal dysfunction prior to therapy and age of younger ***:One percent of patients with spinal dysfunction misdiagnosed to have systemic diseases due to misleading symptoms are finally referred for physiotherapy of manifesting *** therapy to the appropriate vertebro-geographic region(s)relieves the symptom(s)without prejudice to existing diagnosis.

The damage development of notched graphite/epoxy laminates during tension-compression loading has been investigated. The laminates with a multidirectionalstacking sequence were fabricated with T300/914c prepregs. The variation ofthe laminate stiffness with the number of cycles, the stress-strain response prior tofailure, and the damage distribution were obtained. The failure mechanisms of thelaminates and some characteristics of damage development are described in thispaper.

Rectifying barrier at GaN/Sic hetero-junction studied with positron annihilation spectroscopy

Positron annihilation spectroscopy on GaN films grown on Sic substrate with MBE are presented. It is shown that the GaN/Sic interface is rectifying towards positrons, such that positrons can only travel from Sic to GaN and not vice versa. Potential steps seen by the positron at the GaN/Sic interface are calculated from experimental values of electron and positron work function. This “rectifying” effect has been successfully mimicked by inserting a thin region of very high electric field in the Variable Energy Positron Fit （VEPF） analysis. The built-in electric field is attributed to different positron affinities, dislocation and/or interface defects at the GaN/Sic interface.

Intermediate conductance, ca^2＋-activated K^＋ channels： a novel target for chronic renal diseases

Renal failure is a medical condition in which the kidneys are not working properly. There are two types of kidney failure： 1） acute kidney failure, which is sudden and often reversible with adequate treatment; and 2） chronic renal failure, which develops slowly and often is not reversible. The last stage of chronic renal failure is fatal without dialysis or kidney transplant. The treatment for chronic renal failure is focusing on slowing the progression of kidney damage. Several reports have described a promising approach to slow the loss of renal function through inhibition of the basolateral membrane, ca^2＋-activated K^＋（Kca3.1） channel with a selective and nontoxic blocker TRAM-34. This review summarizes pathophysiological studies that describe the role of Kca3.1 in kidney diseases.

Background:Athletes tend to have better visuo-motor performance than do sedentary ***,several basic visual-function and perceptual parameters remain unexplored to *** this study,we investigated whether differences exist in visual function,performance,and processing between basketball players and individuals without a sport-involvement ***:A total of 33 healthy men with no visual impairment or pathology were divided into 2 groups,depending on the involvement in sport(semi-professional basketball players and sedentary individuals).We tested their baseline heart-rate variability in the resting position apart from subjective questionnaires to determine their physical fitness level,and we checked their visual function,performance,and processing through an extended battery of optometric ***:The 2 groups differed in resting heart-rate variability parameters(pconfirming their dissimilarities in regular time practising sports per *** basketball players showed a closer breakpoint and recovery nearpoint of convergence,a higher fusional-vergence rate,better discriminability halos,and better eye-hand coordination(all p valuesconclusion:These results show evidence that athletes,basketball players in this case,exhibit better performance in several visual abilities in comparison to a group of individuals without sporting backgrounds,suggesting an improvement due to the systematic involvement of those skills during basketball practice.

Quantized vortices appearing in topological excitations of quantum phase transition play a pivotal role in strongly correlated physics involving the underlying confluence of superfluids,Bose-Einstein condensates and *** polaritons as bosonic quasiparticles have enabled studies of non-e quilibrium quantum gases and ***-polariton condensates in artificial lattices intuitively emulate energy-band structures and quantum many-body effects of condensed matter,underpinning constructing vortex lattices and controlling quantum fluidic ***,we harness exciton-polariton quantum fluids of light in a frustrated kagome lattice based on robust metal-halide perovskite microcavities,to demonstrate vortex lasing arrays and modulate their configurations at room *** energy-momentum spectra unambiguously reveal massless Dirac bands and quenched kinetic-energy flat bands coexisting in kagome lattices,where polariton condensates exhibit prototypical honeycomb and kagome spatial *** coherence investigations illustrate two types of phase textures of polariton condensates carrying ordered quantized-vortex arrays and π-phase shifts,which could be selected when needed using lasing emission *** findings offer a promising platform on which it is possible to study quantum-fluid correlations in complex polaritonic lattices and highlight feasible applications of structured light.
