Geochemistry and petrogenesis of Rajahmundry trap basalts of Krishna-Godavari Basin,India

The Rajahmundry Trap Basalts （RTB） are erupted through fault-controlled fissures in the Krishna-Godavari Basin （K-G Basin） of Godavari Triple Junction, occurring as a unique outcrop sandwiched between cretaceous and Tertiary sediments along the east coast of India. Detailed geochemical studies have revealed that RTB are mid-Ti （1.74-1.92） to high-Ti （2.04-2.81） basalts with a distinct quartz tholeiitic parentage. MgO （6.2-13.12 wt.%）, Mg# （29-50） and Zr （109-202 ppm） suggest that these basalts evolved by fractional crystallization during the ascent of the parent magma along deep-seated fractures. Mod- erate to high fractionation of HREE, as indicated by （Gd/Yb）N ratios （1.71-2.31） of RTB, suggest their generation through 3-5% melting of a Fe-rich mantle corresponding to the stability fields of spinel and garnet peridotite at depths of 60-100 km. Low K2O/P2O5 （0.26-1.26）, high TiO2/P2O5 （6.74-16.79）, La/Nb （0.89-1.45）, Nb/Th 〉 8 （8.35-13）, negative anomalies at Rb reflect minimum contamination by granitic continental crust. （Nb/La）PM ratios （0.66-1.1） of RTB are attributed to endogenic contamination resulted through recycling of subducted oceanic slab into the mantle. Pronounced Ba enrichment with relative depletion in Rb indicates assimilation of Infra- and Inter-trappean sediments of estuarine to shallow marine character. Geochemical compositions such as A1203/TiO2 （3.88-6.83）, medium to high TiO2 （1.74 -2.81 wt.%）, positive Nb anomalies and LREE enrichment of these RTB attest to their mantle plume origin and indicate the generation of parent magma from a plume-related enriched mantle source with EM 1 signature. Ba/Th （46-247）, Ba/La （3.96-28.51） and Th/Nb （0.08-0.13） ratios suggest that the source enrichment process was marked by recycling of subduction-processed oceanic crust and lithospheric components into the mantle. Zr/Hf （37-41） and Zr/Ba （0.51-3.24） indicate involvement of an asthenospheric mantle source. The Rajahmundry basalts show affinity towards FOZO （

Loranthus micranthus is the species of mistletoe peculiar to the eastern province of *** has been shown to possess anti-diabetic,anumotility,antimicrobial and antihypertensive activities which are host-tree dependent. The antimicrobial activity was found to vary with the season during which the plant was *** are of the opinion that this species should possess immunomodulating potentials as have been reported for the European species,Viscum *** our efforts to establish the bio-activities and active principles in our local mistletoe, the immunomodulatory activity of n-hexane and methanol extracts from Loranthus micranthus parasitic on Persea americana was assessed at three dose levels ranging from 100 to 400 mg/kg body weight using delayed type hypersensitivity reaction(DTHR) and cyclophosphamide-induced myelosuppression models in *** was compared with responses from a standard immunostimulatory drug,*** phytochemical analysis of the plant showed the presence of tannins,flavonoids,alkaloids,terpenoids,carbohydrates and *** analysis indicated a dose-dependent response relationship in the parameters measured with over 170%increase for both extracts at the highest dose *** one way ANOVA test showed significant variation in the parameters between the controls and the different dose ***,at 95%confidence level,(Pcally significant difference between the two extracts, an indication that the active immunomodulant(s) could be both in the polar and non-polar crude *** conclusion,the present results have established some immune stimulating actions of the Eastern Nigeria mistletoe, Loranthus micranthus thus indicating that this variant of the semi parasitic plant holds a strong promise as an immunostimulatory *** is therefore,a basis for further detailed investigation on the fractions and specific ***,these extracts from Loranthus micranthu

The determination of critical conditions for thermal ingition of combustible materials has been traditionally studied by the use of one overall reaction with bounded parameter values for the activation energy and other chemical *** errors can occur in the values of the threshold parameters for ignition when there are two(or more)simultaneous reactions present with distinct values of the chemical ocnstantsRecent work with simultaneous parallel reactions showed the thresholds for ignition could be lowered in this *** this paper,motivated by experimental results for forest litter and cola,it is shown that for sequential reactions (different values of parameters in different temperature ranges)that the threshold conditions are changed(safer for lower ambient temperatures and less safe for higher ambient temperatures).The mathematical analysis is summarised and a detailed analysis is given for the forest litter and crushed coal applications,The experimental results show that variable activation energy dose occur and that this extension of the classical Frank-Kamenetskii theory is *** the analysis is confined to the slab geometry only but the ideas developed can easily be extended to more general systems,including those involving mass transport,consumption and phase changes.

A potential candidate structural material for molten salt reactor:ODS nickel-based alloy

The commercialisation of molten salts reactors(MSRs)is hindered by the lack of structural materials capable of withstanding the corrosive environment *** address this problem,we herein prepared1 wt%Y_(2)O_(3)mdispersion-strengthened Ni Mo-based alloys using powder metallurgy and evaluated their potential as structural materials for MSRs based on their mechanical properties,He swelling behaviour,and molten salt corrosion *** view of the strengthening provided by homogenously dispersed Y_(2)O_(3)particles,all NiMo-Y_(2)O_(3)samples exhibited ultimate tensile strengths and yield strengths exceeding those of the Hastelloy N alloy,a state-of-the-art structural material for ***,the volume fraction of He bubbles in the NiMo-Y_(2)O_(3)samples(~0.3%)was lower than that in the Hastelloy N alloy(0.58%),which showed that the introduction of Y_(2)O_(3)nanoparticles effectively inhibited He *** NiMo-Y_(2)O_(3)samples showed excellent resistance to molten salt corrosion(as reflected by the absence of obvious holes therein),thus holding great promise for the development of irradiation-and molten salt corrosion-resistant structural materials for high-temperature MSRs.

Isolation of Fucoxanthin from the Rhizoid of Laminariajaponica Aresch

Fucoxanthin was extracted from the intact rhizoid of Laminariajaponica Aresch with dimethyl sulfoxide （DMSO）, and then recovered from the DMSO extract by partitioning into ethyl acetate and subsequent evaporation. Some isolation conditions such as solvent volume and extraction time were screened. The quantity and quality of the extracted fucoxanthin were determined by spectral analysis （absorption spectra and fluorescence emission spectra）. The results indicated that：（1） the average total content of fucoxanthin was 122.1μg in 1 g of fresh L. japonica rhizoid; （2） in comparison with the widely used organic solvent, acetone, DMSO was much more effective for the extraction of fucoxanthin; （3） both DMSO volume and extraction time influenced extraction efficiency such as the recovery rate and purity of fucoxanthin （1 g of fresh L. japonica rhizoid treated with 4 mL DMSO for 60 min, yielded 〉 88% of the total fucoxanthin with purity 0.63）; （4） when （NH4）2SO4 concentration was in the range of 0.5-1.0 mol/L, the pigments rapidly and entirely moved from DMSO into the ethyl acetate phase; （5） the ethyl acetate and DMSO were recycled using a rotary evaporator.

Due to the ultra-thin nature and moderate carrier mobility,semiconducting two-dimensional(2D)materials have attracted extensive attention for next-generation ***,the gate bias stress instability and hysteresis are always observed in these 2D materials-based transistors that significantly degrade their reliability for practical ***,the origin of gate bias stress instability and hysteresis for chemical vapor deposited monolayer WS2 transistors are investigated *** transistor performance is found to be strongly affected by the gate bias stress time,sweeping rate and range,and *** on the systematical study and complementary analysis,charge trapping is determined to be the major contribution for these observed ***,due to these charge trapping effects,the channel current is observed to decrease with time;hence,a rate equation,considering the charge trapping and time decay effect of current,is proposed and developed to model the phenomena with excellent consistency with experimental *** these results do not only indicate the validity of the charge trapping model,but also confirm the hysteresis being indeed caused by charge ***,this simple model provides a sufficient explanation for the charge trapping induced gate bias stress instability and hysteresis in monolayer WS2 transistors,which can be also applicable to other kinds of transistors.

Assessing the Sustainability of Underground Space Usage——A Toolkit for Testing Possible Urban Futures

A description of the future as it might be without forecasts, predictions and trend analysis can be referred to as a 'future scenario'. An abundance of scenarios literature exists in which numerous pictures have been painted of changed future worlds. However, upon closer inspection it becomes apparent that virtually all of this literature refers to changes occurring above ground, ignoring the inevitable consequences (or opportunities) for sustainable use of underground space, not least in densely populated urban areas, some of which may be underlain by complex geological conditions. This paper reports on the development (to date) of an 'Urban Futures' (UF) toolkit for sub-surface environments (including infrastructure and utilities) which, through use of 'key' questions 'sustainable' indicators and a 'contextual' narrative, allows for better definition and measured performance of underground space in the UK, both today and in the future. The toolkit explores possible uses for underground space within 4 plausible and well-cited future scenarios (i.e. New Sustainability Paradigm, Fortress World, Market Forces and Policy Reform). This forms part of a much larger generic toolkit which the UF research team are developing for exploring possible future scenarios over a range of UK urban regeneration case study areas.

Vanadium-catalyzed oxidative kinetic resolution（OKR） of methyl o-chloromandelate 2a,key intermediate of the well-known oral antiplatelet agent（S）-clopidogrel,was achieved by ambient air for the first *** air oxidation system,which was composed of vanadium and tridentate Schiff base ligands derived from amino alcohols and salicylaldehyde derivatives,afforded an efficient and economic approach to the target intermediate with high enantioselectivities（99%ee）.
