The three-dimensional problem involving diffraction of water wave by a finite floating rigid dock over an arbitrary bottom is studied for two cases(1)in the absence of wall(2)in the presence of *** problem is handled for its solution with the aid of step *** both asymmetric and symmetric arbitrary bottom profile is approximated using successive *** approximation helps to apply the matched eigenfunction expansion method,in result,system of algebraic equations are obtained which are solved to determine the hydrodynamic quantities,namely,force experienced by rigid floating dock as well as rigid seawall,free surface elevation,transmission and reflection coefficients associated with transmission and reflected waves *** effects of various structural and system parameters are examined on these hydrodynamics *** appropriate values of length and thickness of dock,water depth and angle of incidence provide the salient information to marine and coastal engineers to design the offshore structures and creation of parabolic trench on the *** present results are compared with known results in special case of bottom *** energy balance relation is derived and checked.

An inverse method for extracting the elastic-plastic properties of metallic thin films from instrumented sharp indentation has been proposed in terms of dimensional analysis and finite element modeling. A wide range of materials with different elastic modulus, yield strength, and strain-hardening exponent were *** to the Nix-Gao model for the depth dependence of hardness H,the relationship between elastic modulus E and indentation depth h can be expressed as By combiningthese two formulas, we find that there is a relationship between yield stress and indentation depth h：where σyO is the yield strength associated with the strain-hardening exponent n, the true hardness Ho and the true elastic modulus *** constant, whichis only related to n, and hH and hE are characteristic lengths for hardness and elastic modulus. The results obtained from inverse analysis show that the elastic-plastic properties of thin films can be uniquely extracted from the solution of this relationship when the indentation size effect has to be taken into account.

Oral 4-aminopyridine(4-AP)is clinically used for symptomatic relief in multiple sclerosis and we recently demonstrated that systemic 4-AP had previously unknown clinically-relevant effects after traumatic peripheral nerve injury including the promotion of re-myelination,improvement of nerve conductivity,and acceleration of functional *** hypothesized that,instead of oral or injection administration,transdermal 4-AP(TD-4-AP)could also improve functional recovery after traumatic peripheral nerve *** with surgical traumatic peripheral nerve injury received TD-4AP or vehicle alone and were examined for skin permeability,pharmacokinetics,functional,electrophysiological,and nerve morphological properties.4-AP showed linear pharmacokinetics and the maximum plasma 4-AP concentrations were proportional to TD-4-AP *** a single dose of TD-4-AP administration demonstrated rapid transient improvement in motor function,chronic TD-4-AP treatment significantly improved motor function and nerve conduction and these effects were associated with fewer degenerating axons and thicker myelin sheaths than those from vehicle *** findings provide direct evidence for the potential transdermal applicability of 4-AP and demonstrate that 4-AP delivered through the skin can enhance in-vivo functional recovery and nerve conduction while decreasing axonal *** animal experiments were approved by the University committee on Animal Research(UcAR)at the University of Rochester(UcAR-2009-019)on March 31,2017.

Objective: To explore inhibitory effects of genome-specific, chemically synthesized siRNAs(small interference RNA) against Ns3 gene of hepatitis c virus(HcV) 1a genotype in stable Huh-7(human hepatoma) cells as well as against viral replication in serum-inoculated Huh-7 cells. Methods: stable Huh-7 cells persistently expressing Ns3 gene were produced under antibiotic gentamycin(G418) selection. The cell clones resistant to 1 000 μg antibiotic concentration(G418) were picked as stable cell clones. The Ns3 gene expression in stable cell clone was confirmed by RT-PcR and Western blotting. siRNA cell cytotoxicity was determined by MTT cell proliferation assay. stable cell lines were transfected with sequence specific siRNAs and their inhibitory effects were determined by RT-PcR, real-time PcR and Western blotting. The viral replication inhibition by siRNAs in serum inoculated Huh-7 cells was determined by real-time PcR. Results: RT-PcR and Western blot analysis confirmed Ns3 gene and protein expression in stable cell lines on day 10, 20 and 30 post transfection. MTT cell proliferation assay revealed that at most concentrated dose tested(50 nmol/L), siRNA had no cytotoxic effects on Huh-7 cells and cell proliferation remained unaffected. As demonstrated by the siRNA time-dependent inhibitory analysis, siRNA Ns3-is44 showed maximum inhibition of Ns3 gene in stable Huh-7 cell clones at 24(80%, P=0.013) and 48 h(75%, P=0.002) post transfection. The impact of siRNAs on virus replication in serum inoculated Huh-7 cells also demonstrated significant decrease in viral copy number, where siRNA Ns3-is44 exhibited 70%(Pction as compared to Ns3-is33, which showed a 64%(Pcrease in viral copy number. siRNA synergism(Ns3-is33 + Ns3-is44) decreased viral load by 84%(Ps compared to individual inhibition by each siRNA(i.e., 64%–70%(Pserum-inoculated cells. synthetic siRNAs mixture(Ns5Bis88 + Ns3-is33) targeting different region of HcV genom

History has brought us into a significant moment when the majority of the human kind has taken up resi-dence in urban settlements. The focus of global urbanization has shifted to the developing world and the center of manufacturing is no longer confined to the Global North. This paper provides a periodical assessment of the current status of china's urban transformation in the global context of a shifting emphasis of industrialization and urbaniza-tion. china's phenomenal urban transformation deserves a special attention not only because of its unparalleled scale and speed but also because of its distinct trajectory of growth that does not conform to normal theoretical ex-pectations. The results of assessment revealed an urban economy with remarkable hybridity, a society that is in-creasingly stratified, polarized, and segregated, and a juxtaposed urban space undergoing restless and pervasive transformation. A decentering world should entail a decentering knowledge production. A critical reflection upon the chinese patterns and processes of urban transformation has identified 4 main issues with great potentials for inno-vative knowledge production, namely: 1) privatization and economic development; 2) state, society, and space; 3) urbanization of capital, labor, and land; and 4) the environment and chinese political ecology. The paper closes with the remark that a rapidly transforming urban china has presented itself as a fertile and resourceful testing ground for critical and innovative geographic enquiries.

Electrochemical preparation and characterization of brain-like nanostructures of Y_2O_3

Nanostructured Y203 was successfully prepared via a two-step and template-free method. Firstly, yttrium hydroxide precursor was galvanostatically grown on the steel substrate from chloride bath by direct and pulse current deposition modes. Direct cunent deposition was carried out at the constant current density of 0.1 A/dm2 for 600 s. The pulse current was also performed at a typical on-time and off-time （ton=l s and Germ s） with an average current density of 0.05 A/dm2 （la=0.05 A/din2） for 600 s. The obtained hydroxide films were then scraped from the substrates and thermally converted into final oxide product via heat-treatment. Thermal behaviors and phase transformations during the heat treatment of the hydroxide powder samples were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry （Dsc） and thermogravimetric analysis （TGA）. The final oxide products were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction （XRD）, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR） and scanning electron microscopy （sEM）. The results showed that the well-crystallized Y203 with brainand sphere-like morphology were achievable via pulse and direct deposition modes, respectively. It was concluded that pulse current cathodic electrodeposition offered a facile route for preparation ofnanostructured Y203.

The effects of fly ash on the compressive strength, pore size distribution and chloride-ion penetration of recycled aggregate concrete were investigated. Two series of concrete mb：tures were prepared. The concrete mixtures in series I had a water-to-binder ratio and a cement content of 0.55 and 410 kg/ m^3 , respectively. The concrete rnixtures in series II had a water-to-binder ratio and a cement content of 0.45 and 400 kg/ ml respectively. Recycled aggregate was ased as 20% , 50% , and 100% replacements of natural coarse aggregate in the concrete mixtures in both series. In cutdition, fly ash was used as 0% , 25% and 35% by weight replacements of cement. The results show that the compressive strengths of the concrete decreased as the recycled aggregate and the fly ash contents increased. The total porosity and average porosity diameter of the concrete increased us the recycled aggregate content increased. Furtherrruore , an increase in the recycled aggregate content decreased the resistance to chloride ion penetration. Nevertheless, the replacement of cement by 25% fly ush improved the resistance to chloride ion penetration and pore diameters and reduced the total porosity of the recycled aggregate concrete.

Three-dimensional(3 D)static modelling techniques are applied to the characterization of the Qishn Formation(Fm.)in the sharyoof oil field locating within the Masila basin,southeastern *** present study was initiated by the seismic structural interpretation,followed by building a 3 D structural framework,in addition to analysing well log data and from these,3 D facies and petrophysical models are *** the sharyoof oil field,the Qishn *** depth values within the range of 400-780 m below sea level,with a general increase towards the ssE.A set of high dip angle normal faults with a general ENE-WsW trend dissect the *** strata are also folded as a main anticline with an axis that is parallel to the fault trend,formed as a result of basement *** to the facies models,the Qishn *** 43.83% limestone,21.53% shale,21.26% sandstone,13.21% siltstone and 0.17% *** Qishn carbonates Member has low porosity values making it a potential seal for the underlying reservoirs whereas the Upper Qishn clastics sI A and c have good reservoir quality and sIB has fair reservoir *** Upper Qishn clastics s2 and s3 also have fair reservoir quality,while the Lower Qishn clastics zone has good reservoir *** water saturation decreases towards the west and east and increases towards north and *** total original oil in-place(OOIP)of the Upper Qishn clastics is 106 million sTB within the sI A,sIc and s2 *** of development wells is recommended in the eastern study area,where good trapping configuration is exhibited in addition to the presence of a potential seal(Upper Qishn carbonates Member)and reservoir(Qishn clastics Member)with high porosity and low water saturation.
