Efficient detection of single optical centres in solids is essential for quantum information processing, sensing and single-photon generation *** this work,we use radio-frequency（RF） reflectometry to electrically detect the photoionisation induced by a single Er3+ion in *** high bandwidth and sensitivity of the RF reflectometry provide sub-100-ns time resolution for the photoionisation *** this technique,the optically excited state lifetime of a single Er3+ion in a Si nano-transistor is measured for the first time to be 0.49±0.04μ*** results demonstrate an efficient approach for detecting a charge state change induced by Er excitation and *** approach could be used for fast readout of other single optical centres in solids and is attractive for large-scale integrated optical quantum systems thanks to the multi-channel RF reflectometry demonstrated with frequency multiplexing techniques.

colorectal cancer(cRc)remains one of the most commonly diagnosed and deadliest types of cancer *** displays a desmoplastic reaction(DR)that has been inversely associated with poor prognosis;less DR is associated with a better *** reaction generates excessive connective tissue,in which cancer-associated fibroblasts(cAFs)are critical cells that form a part of the tumor *** are directly involved in tumorigenesis through different ***,their role in immunosuppression in cRc is not well understood,and the precise role of signal transducers and activators of transcription(STATs)in mediating cAF activity in cRc remains *** the myriad chemical and biological factors that affect cAFs,different cytokines mediate their function by activating STAT signaling ***,the harmful effects of cAFs in favoring tumor growth and invasion may be modulated using STAT ***,we analyze the impact of different STATs on cAF activity and their immunoregulatory role.

DcAT is an RDF vocabulary designed to facilitate interoperability between data catalogs published on the *** its first release in 2014 as a W3c Recommendation,DcAT has seen a wide adoption across communities and domains,particularly in conjunction with implementing the FAIR data principles(forfindable,accessible,interoperable and reusable data).These implementation experiences,besides demonstrating the fitness of DcAT to meet its intended purpose,helped identify existing issues and ***,over the last few years,additional requirements emerged in data catalogs,given the increasing practice of documenting not only datasets but also data services and *** paper illustrates the new version of DcAT,explaining the rationale behind its main revisions and extensions,based on the collected use cases and requirements,and outlines the issues yet to be addressed in future versions of DcAT.

Synchronized off-harmonic probe laser with highly variable pulse duration for laser-plasma interaction experiments

This paper presents the development and experimental utilization of a synchronized off-harmonic laser system designed as a probe for ultra-intense laser±plasma interaction experiments. The system exhibits a novel seed-generation design,allowing for a variable pulse duration spanning over more than three orders of magnitude, from 3.45 picoseconds to 10 nanoseconds. This makes it suitable for various plasma diagnostics and visualization techniques. In a side-view configuration, the laser was employed for interferometry and streaked shadowgraphy of a laser-induced plasma while successfully suppressing the self-emission background of the laser±plasma interaction, resulting in a signal-to-self-emission ratio of 110 for this setup. These properties enable the probe to yield valuable insights into the plasma dynamics and interactions at the PHELIX facility and to be deployed at various laser facilities due to its easy-to-implement design.

Glass optical fibres have had a tremendous impact on modern society,not only changing the way we communicate and share information on a global scale,but also how we sense,monitor,and manufacture using light-based *** fashioned from silica glass,commercial optical fibres owe their ubiquity to decades of efforts in optimizing the fabrication techniques to minimize transmission losses,principally within the telecommunications wavelength bands[1].However,the intrinsic properties of silica glass,such as its transmission window,nonlinear coefficients,and the absence of electronic functionality,have limited the use of these fibres in some ***,alongside these efforts,fibre fabrication teams have continued to explore alternative material systems that can help to lift some of these limitations and extend the reach of optical fibres and their applications.

Virtual Transmission Solution Based on Battery Energy Storage Systems to Boost Transmission capacity

The increasing penetration of variable renewable energy(VRE)generation along with the decommissioning of conventional power plants in chile,has raised several operational challenges in the chilean national Power Grid(nPG),including transmission congestion and VRE *** mitigate these limitations,an innovative virtual transmission solution based on battery energy storage systems(BESSs),known as grid booster(GB),has been proposed to increase the capacity of the main 500 kV corridor of the *** paper analyzes the dynamic performance of the GB using a wide-area electromagnetic transient(EMT)model of the *** GB project,composed of two 500 MVA BESS units at each extreme of the 500 kV corridor,allows increasing the transmission capacity for 15 min during n-1 contingencies,overcoming transmission limitations under normal operation conditions while maintaining system stability during *** dynamic behavior of the GB is also analyzed to control power flow as well as voltage *** results show that the GB is an effective solution to allow greater penetration of VRE generation while maintaining system stability in the nPG.

Synthetic high-density lipoprotein(sHDL):a bioinspired nanotherapeutics for managing periapical bone inflammation

Apical periodontitis(AP)is a dental-driven condition caused by pathogens and their toxins infecting the inner portion of the tooth(i.e.,dental pulp tissue),resulting in inflammation and apical bone resorption affecting 50%of the worldwide population,with more than 15 million root canals performed annually in the United *** treatment involves cleaning and decontaminating the infected tissue with chemo-mechanical approaches and materials introduced years ago,such as calcium hydroxide,zinc oxide–eugenol,or even formalin ***,we present,for the first time,a nanotherapeutics based on using synthetic highdensity lipoprotein(sHDL)as an innovative and safe strategy to manage dental bone *** application in concentrations ranging from 25μg to 100μg/mL decreases nuclear factor Kappa B(nF-κB)activation promoted by an inflammatory stimulus(lipopolysaccharide,LPS).Moreover,sHDL at 500μg/mL concentration markedly decreases in vitro osteoclastogenesis(Pnd inhibits IL-1α(P=0.027),TnF-α(P=0.004),and IL-6(Pction in an inflammatory ***,sHDL strongly dampens the Toll-Like Receptor signaling pathway facing LPS stimulation,mainly by downregulating at least 3-fold the pro-inflammatory genes,such as Il1b,Il1a,Il6,Ptgs2,and *** vivo,the lipoprotein nanoparticle applied after naOcl reduced bone resorption volume to(1.3±0.05)mm3 and attenuated the inflammatory reaction after treatment to(1090±184)cells compared to non-treated animals that had(2.9±0.6)mm3(P=0.0123)and(2443±931)cells(P=0.004),thus highlighting its promising clinical potential as an alternative therapeutic for managing dental bone inflammation.
