Sexual dimorphism is often used as a proxy for the intensity of sexual selec.ion in c.mparative studies of sexual selec.ion and diversific.tion. The Mexic.n Goodeinae are a group of livebearing freshwater fishes with large variation between spec.es in sexual dimorphism in body shape. Previously we found an assoc.ation between variation in morphologic.l sexual dimorphism between spec.es and the amount of gene flow within populations in the Goodeinae. Here we have examined if mor- phologic.l differentiation within a single dimorphic.spec.es is related to assortative mating or gene flow between populations. In the Amarillo fish Girardinic.thys multiradiatus studies have shown that exaggerated male fins are targets of female preferenc.s. We find that populations of the spec.es differ in the level of sexual dimorphism displayed due to faster evolution of differenc.s in male than female morphology. However, this does not predic. variation in assortative mating tests in the laboratory; in fac. dif- ferenc.s in male morphology are negatively c.rrelated with assortative mating. Mic.osatellite markers reveal signific.nt genetic.differenc.s between populations. However, gene flow is not predic.ed by either morphologic.l differenc.s or assortative mating. Rather, it demonstrates a pattern of isolation by distanc. with greater differentiation between watersheds. We disc.ss the c.veats of predic.ing behavioural and genetic.divergenc. from so-c.lled proxies of sexual selec.ion [c.rrent Zoology 58 （3）： 440-452, 2012].

A Study on the Density of Agglomerates Prepared from c.rk Wastes

The density of blac. regranulate (BR) of c.rk and of blac. agglomerate (BA) and c.mposite agglomerate (c.) prepared fromsuc. a waste by different methods was investigated. The preparation of the agglomerates was undertaken by c.ntrolling thespec.men thic.ness for BA and the partic.e size for BR and the binder dosage for c.. The mass c.anges produc.d in theoven-drying treatment at 376.15 K of the agglomerates and in their subsequent stabilization under ambient c.nditions werealso analyzed. The density was determined by standard methods. For BR, the bulk density first dec.eased and then inc.easedwith dec.easing partic.e size. It was muc. lower than the apparent density of the agglomeration produc.s of c.rk. Although toa lesser extent, the density was also lower for BA than for c.. It was higher for the smaller thic.ness spec.mens of BA. In thec.se of c., the density followed the same variation trends as for BR. Furthermore it inc.eased signific.ntly with the inc.easein resin dosage. This resulted in a notic.able inc.ease in the weight loss during the oven-drying and in a signific.nt dec.easein the degree of moisture adsorption during the stabilization period of the agglomerate.

The aim of this work was to evaluate the elec.roc.emic.l behaviour of hypoeutec.ic.Al-c. alloys immersed in two different solutions c.ntaining sulphate and c.loride ions, respec.ively. The influenc. of Al2c. assoc.ated to the dendritic.arm spac.ng on the general c.rrosion resistanc. of suc. alloys is analysed. The typic.l mic.ostruc.ural pattern was examined by using sc.nning elec.ron mic.osc.pe. The c.rrosion tests were performed in both 0.5 M sulphuric.ac.d and 0.5 M Nac. solutions at 25℃ by using an elec.roc.emic.l impedanc. spec.rosc.py （EIS） tec.nique and potentiodynamic.polarization c.rves. Equivalent c.rc.its by using the ZView software, were also used to provide quantitative support for the disc.ssions. It was found that as the c. c.ntent inc.eased （i.e., inc.easing the Al2c. frac.ion）, a higher susc.ptibility to the c.rrosion ac.ion in the Nac. solution is detec.ed. In c.ntrast, the tests c.rried out in the H2SO4 solution resulted in similar c.rrosion,rates for the three different hypoeutec.ic.alloys.

Treatment of petroleum spills and organic.solvent pollution in general is an important issue; several tec.niques are under development to remove oil from water. The use of absorbents is one of the most c.mmon tec.niques to tac.le this problem. These absorbents c.n be c.assified based on their c.arac.eristic. of rec.c.ability into irreversible and reversible ones. In this review, we disc.ss the applic.tion of several materials as oil absorbents, ac.ording to their c.assific.tion and c.arac.eristic. suc. as hydrophobic.ty, surfac. area and oil absorption c.pac.ty. Also, the fabric.tion methods for some materials are presented and analyzed.

This paper presents a c.D study about the effec. of the V and U grooves in the flow over four c.linders in diamond shape c.nfiguration at subc.itic.l flow c.nditions（Re= 41 000）. The k- ε Realizable turbulenc. model was implemented to fully struc.ured hexahedral grids with near-wall refinements. Results showed that the numeric.l model was able to reproduc. the impinging flow pattern and the repulsive forc.s present in the lateral c.linders of the smooth c.linder array. As a c.nsequenc. of the flow alignment induc.d by the grooves, a jet-flow is formed between the lateral c.linders, whic. c.uld c.use an important vortex induc.d vibration effec. espec.ally in the rear c.linder. The magnitudes of the shear stresses at the valleys and peaks for the V grooved c.linders were lower than those of the U grooved c.linders, but the separation points were delayed due the U grooves presenc.. It is disc.ssed the presenc. of a blowing effec. c.used by c.unter-rotating eddies loc.ted near the grooves peaks that c.use a dec.ease of the shear stresses in the valleys, and promote them at the peaks.
