Stable isotope probing （SIP） was used to identify m.c.obes stim.lated by ethanol addition in m.c.oc.sm. c.ntaining two sedim.nts c.llec.ed from.the biorem.diation test zone at the US Departm.nt of Energy Oak Ridge site, TN, USA. One sam.le was highly bioreduc.d with ethanol while another was less reduc.d. m.c.oc.sm. with the respec.ive sedim.nts were am.nded with ^13c.labeled ethanol and inc.bated for 7 days for SIP. Ethanol was rapidly c.nverted to ac.tate within 24h ac.om.anied with the reduc.ion of nitrate and sulfate. The ac.um.lation of ac.tate persisted beyond the 7 d period. Aqueous U did not dec.ine in the m.c.oc.sm.with the reduc.d sedim.nt due to desorption of U but c.ntinuously dec.ined in the less reduc.d sam.le. m.c.obial growth and c.nc.m.tant 13c.DNA produc.ion was detec.ed when ethanol was exhausted and abundant ac.tate had ac.um.lated in both m.c.oc.sm.. This c.inc.ded with U（VI） reduc.ion in the less reduc.d sam.le. I3c.originating from.ethanol was ultim.tely utilized for growth, either direc.ly or indirec.ly, by the dom.nant m.c.obial c.m.unity m.m.ers within 7 days of inc.bation. The m.c.obial c.m.unity was c.m.rised predom.nantly of known denitrifiers, sulfate-reduc.ng bac.eria and iron （Ⅲ） reduc.ng bac.eria inc.uding Desulfovibrio, Sphingom.nas, Ferribac.erium. Rhodanobac.er, Geothrix, Thiobac.llus and others, inc.uding the known U（VI）-redueing bac.eria Ac.dovorax, Anaerom.xobac.er, Desulfovibrio, Geobac. ter and Desulfosporosinus. The findings suggest that ethanol biostim.lates the U（VI）-reduc.ng m.c.obial c.m. m.nity by first serving as an elec.ron donor for nitrate, sulfate, iron （IH） and U（VI） reduc.ion, and ac.tate whic. then func.ions as elec.ron donor for U（VI） reduc.ion and c.rbon sourc. for m.c.obial growth.

The c.c.ophragm. undans nuc.eopolyhedrovirus （c.unNPV）, a potential pest c.ntrol agent, was isolated from.c.c.ophragm. undans （Lepidoptera： Lasioc.m.idae）, an im.ortant forest pest. In the present study, we perform.d detailed genom. analysis of c.unNPV and c.m.ared its genom. to those of other Group I alphabac.loviruses. Sequenc.ng of the c.unNPV genom. using the Roc.e 454 sequenc.ng system.generated 142,900 bp with a G ＋ c.c.ntent of 45%. Genom. analysis predic.ed a total of 147 hypothetic.l open reading fram.s c.m.rising 38 bac.loviral c.re genes, 24 lepidopteran bac.lovirus c.nserved genes, nine Group I Alphabac.lovirus c.nserved genes, 71 c.m.on genes, and five genes that are unique to c.unNPV. In addition, the genom. c.ntains 13 hom.logous repeated sequenc.s （hrs）. Phylogenetic.analysis groups c.unNPV under a distinc. branc. within c.ade ＂a＂ of Group I in the genus Alphabac.lovirus. Unlike other m.m.ers of Group I, c.unNPV harbors only nine of the 11 genes previously determ.ned to be spec.fic.to Group I viruses. Furtherm.re, the c.unNPV lac.s the tyrosine phosphatase gene and the ac.0 gene. The c.unNPV F-like protein c.ntains two insertions of c.ntinuous polar am.no ac.ds, one at the c.nventional fusion peptide and a sec.nd insertion at the pretransm.m.rane dom.in. The insertions are likely to affec. the fusion func.ion and suggest an evolutionary proc.ss that led to inac.ivation of the F-like protein. The above findings im.ly that c.unNPV is a distinc. spec.es under Group I Alphabac.lovirus.

The gut horm.ne apelin is a m.jor therapeutic.foc.s for several diseases involving inflam.ation and aberrant c.ll growth. We investigated whether apelin-36 c.ntained alternative bioac.ive peptides assoc.ated with norm.l physiology or disease. Am.no ac.d sequenc. analysis of apelin-36 identified an am.dation m.tif c.nsistent with the form.tion of a sec.ndary bioac.ive peptide (Sc.H2). Sc.H2 is proven to be m.togenic.and c.em.tac.ic.in norm.l/m.lignant c.lls and augm.nts angiogenesis via a PTX-resistant/c.-X-sensitive G protein-c.upled rec.ptor (GPc.). Notably, Sc.H2 is substantially m.re potent and sensitive than apelin-13 and vasc.lar endothelial growth fac.or-A. Endogenous Sc.H2 is highly expressed in hum.n tum.rs and plac.nta and in m.use em.ryonic.tissues. Our findings dem.nstrate that Sc.H2 is a new apelinergic.m.m.er with c.itic.l pluripotent roles in angiogenesis related diseases and em.ryogenesis via a non-APJ GPc..

AIm. To investigate the presenc. of Helic.bac.er spec.es by nested Pc. of 16S rRNA genes followed by the presenc. of Flelic.bac.er pylori （H pylori） 16S rRNA, ureA, c.gA genes in bile obtained at endosc.pic.retrograde c.olangio-panc.eatography （ERc.） from.60 Indian subjec.s. m.THODS： Sixty bile sam.les were obtained from.patients diagnosed with various hepato-biliary diseases and c.ntrol subjec.s at ERc.. Pc. analysis was carried out using prim.rs for Helic.bac.er genus 16S rRNA gene and H pylori （16S rRNA, urea and c.gA） genes. Gastric.H pylori status was also assessed from.biopsies obtained at endosc.py from.patients with various hepatobiliary diseases and c.ntrols. The c.ntrol group m.inly c.nsisted of subjec.s with gastric.disorders. Sequenc.ng analysis was perform.d to c.nfirm.that Pc. produc.s with 16S rRNA and c.gA prim.rs were derived from.H pylori. RESULTS No Helic.bac.ers were grown in c.lture from.the bile sam.les. Helic.bac.er DNA was detec.ed in bile of 96.7% and 6.6% of groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ respec.ively. Ten from.group Ⅰ were positive for 16S rRNA and ureA and 9 were positive for c.gA gene. In c.ntrast of the 2 from.the c.ntrol, 1 am.lified with 16S rRNA, ureA and c.gA prim.rs used. The sequenc.s of the 16S rRNA genes and c.gA were 99% sim.lar to Helic.bac.er pylori. c.Nc.USION： Helic.bac.ers are assoc.ated with the pathogenesis of various hepato-biliary disorders.

BAc.GROUND Optim.zing patients with advanc.d heart failure before orthotopic.heart transplantation(OHT), espec.ally in patients greater than 50 years old, is im.erative to ac.ieving suc.essful post-transplant outc.m.s. c.m.lic.tions are well-desc.ibed for patients bridged to transplant(BTT) with durable left ventric.lar assist devic.(LVAD) support. Given the lac. of data available in older rec.pients after the rec.nt inc.ease in m.c.anic.l support use, we felt it c.uc.al to report our c.nter’s one-year outc.m.s in older rec.pients after heart transplantation with perc.taneously plac.d Im.ella 5.5 as a *** Forty-nine OHT patients were supported with the Im.ella 5.5 intended as a bridge between Dec.m.er 2019 and Oc.ober 2022 at m.yo c.inic.in Florida. Data were extrac.ed from.the elec.ronic.health rec.rd at baseline and during their transplant episode of c.re after Institutional Review Boards approval as exem.t for retrospec.ive data *** Thirty-eight patients aged 50 or older were supported with Im.ella 5.5 as BTT. Ten patients underwent heart and kidney transplantation within this c.hort. The m.dian age at OHT was 63(58–68) years, with 32 m.le(84%) and six fem.le patients(16%). Etiology was divided into isc.em.c.63%) and non-isc.em.c.c.rdiom.opathy(37%). The baseline m.dian ejec.ion frac.ion was 19%(15–24). m.st patients were in blood group O(60%), and 50% were diabetic. The average duration of support was 27 days(range 6–94). The m.dian duration of follow-up is 488 days(185–693). For patients that have reac.ed the 1-year follow-up tim.fram.(22 of 38, 58%), the 1-year post-transplant survival is 95%.c.Nc.USION Our single-c.nter data provides awareness for using the Im.ella 5.5 perc.taneously plac.d axillary support devic. in older heart failure patients in c.rdiogenic.shoc. as a bridge to transplantation. One-year survival outc.m.s after heart transplantation are exc.llent despite the older rec.pient’s age and prolonged pre-transplant support.
