Objective: Identify the presence of some risk factors and co-factors for acquiring HPv (human papilloma virus) or cervical cancer in women from a rural area and an urban area. Material and Methods: cross-sectional study conducted in 2008 in the State of San Luis Potosí, México. Sampling of non-probabilistic convenience was applied. 99 women participated (73 from urban area and 26 rural). Two surveys were used to identify risk factors and socio-demographic data. All women underwent HPv testing;the samples were self-collected and processed by the Hybrid capture II method?. To analyze the data, descriptive and inferential statistics were applied. Results: The predominant age range was 37 to 42 years. 38.5% is in a rural community and an urban 37.3%. 72.6% began their sexual life at 19 years or more in urban areas and 57.6% before 18 in rural areas. In relation to the number of sexual partners reported having had only one, 73.1% and 67.1% in rural and urban area respectively. Risk factors that were associated with HPv infection were the beginning of sexual activity at age 18 and under (p = 0.041) and the number of sexual partners (p = 0.001). conclusions: There are more risk factors in women in urban areas but in rural areas it had the highest percentage of positive cases for infection by high-risk HPv.

The beneficial effects of exercise have been recognized for many years yet the molecular mechanisms by which exercise show benefits on health are still elusive. A combination of experimental and bioinformatics approaches can be an invaluable tool to increase the cellular understanding of the molecular mechanisms that underlie the aerobic exercise in obese adolescents. Muscle skeletal proteins were separated by 2D-PAGE and changes in protein expression were revealed by ImageMaster 2D Platinum analysis software. Proteins with expression changes after aerobic exercise were identified by comparison with 2D maps from SWISS-2DPAGE and interactions of proteins were analyzed with STRING and DAvID databases. After aerobic exercise, all participants decreased glucose, insulin, total cholesterol, body mass index and waist circumference. Proteomic differential analysis revealed 10 overexpressed proteins after aerobic training, which correspond to carbonic anhydrase III, beta enolase, creatine kinase, ATP synthase beta subunit, aldolase A, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, triosephosphate isomerase, pyruvate kinase, lactate dehydrogenase and adenylate kinase. Exercise increased glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation pathways, which is likely to be regulated by ubiquitin c protein. In conclusion, our analysis suggested that obese adolescents show changes in their body mass index, waist circumference and serum glucose after aerobic exercise through improved protein expression patterns that aid, especially, glucose metabolism and increase the oxidative phosphorylation. The most likely explanation for the observed pattern is that ubiquitin c protein keeps the glycolytic enzymes bound within skeletal muscle, obtaining a non-degradative role in cell signaling.

The ingest of diets with high content of fats and carbohydrates, low or no physical exercise and a stressful routine are part of the everyday lifestyle of most people in the western world. These conditions are triggers for different diseases with complex interactions between the host genetics, the metabolism, the immune system and the microbiota, including inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD), obesity and diabetes. The incidence of these disorders is growing worldwide; therefore, new strategies for its study are needed. Nowadays, the majority of researches are in use of murine models for understand the genetics, physiopathology and interaction between cells and signaling pathways to find therapeutic solutions to these diseases. The zebrafish, a little tropical water fish, shares 70% of our genes and conserves anatomic and physiological characteristics, as well as metabolical pathways, with mammals, and is rising as a new complementary model for the study of metabolic and inflammatory diseases. Its high fecundity, fast development, transparency, versatility and low cost of maintenance makes the zebrafish an interesting option for new researches. In this review, we offer a discussion of the existing genetic and induced zebrafish models of two important Western diseases that have a strong inflammatory component, the IBD and the obesity.

We present a non-relativistic approach to the equivalent polarization Peq=(1/c2)v×Meq, that appears in a magnetized medium in motion. We apply an analogous method to that used by Panofsky and Phillips to calculate the symmetric effect, the equivalent magnetization that appears in a polarized dielectric in motion, Meq=P×v,?This method is based on a particular expression of Maxwell’s equations and the application of the convective derivative. These authors argue, however, that the equivalent polarization can be obtained only with a relativistic approach. We show that with the same method, but with a different and equivalent expression of Maxwell’s equations, this effect can also be calculated. In this way both effects can be considered relativistic effects to first order in v/c.

Aim: To develop an HPLc method to quantify midazolam in a new oral formulation for pediatric use. Methods: The stability of the new formulation was evaluated at different storage conditions and a preliminary assay of relative bioavailability was carried out in healthy volunteers. Results: The method of quantification was linear in the range of 5 to 60 μg·mL-1. The midazolam amount in the formulation remained stable for 90 days at 4 and 40℃ (in the dark) while at 25℃ was stable only for 14 days (exposed to light). Discussion: The relative bioavailability assay suggests that our preparation of midazolam in white chocolate reaches plasma levels similar to those induced by the apple juice formulation. conclusion: This new white chocolate formulation masks the unpleasing flavour and has a more attractive presentation to the paediatric patient, which may be useful for children sedation and to ease its management by health carers.

An experimental study was carried out to estimate the effect of the lead impurities on the silver distribution in the phases formed in the lead blast furnace. Samples of sinter with different contents of cu, S, As and Sb were equilibrated under reducing atmosphere （p（cO）/p（cO2）=2.45） at 1573 K in a tube furnace and slowly cooled. The samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and microanalysis （SEM-EDS）. There were five immiscible phases：slag （caO, FeO and SiO2）, matte （S, cu and Fe）, speiss （As, Fe and cu）, cu-Sb phase and lead bullion （Pb, Ag, Sb, cu, etc）. The results showed that cu and Sb promote silver losses during the process since they form a liquid solution with higher silver solubility than liquid bullion. Sulfur and arsenic react with copper to form the matte and speiss phases, respectively. The effect of S and As is to reduce the amount of cu-Sb alloy and then the silver losses from the bullion.

Symptoms of Tar Spot complex (TSc) in corn appear in the form of black spots surrounded by a chlorotic halo known as fish-eye. The crop with these symptoms was found at San Pablo Autopan, Estado de Mexico. The stromal region of foliar lesions was cut longitudinally, showing perithecia, asci and ascospores typical of Phyllachora maydis. The results were confirmed by PcR-ITS with ITS 1 and ITS4 initiators, cloned by pJET, before being sequenced and compared against NcBI’s data base. Phyllachora identity was confirmed. This is the first report where TSc pathogen has been detected under conditions that had not been previously reported, for instance, at 2600 meters above the sea level.

Dengue is one of the most prominent tropical epidemic diseases present in the Rio de Janeiro city and Southeast part of Brazil, due to the widespread conditions of occurrence of the dengue vector, the mosquito Aedesaegypti, such as high-temperature days interlaced with afternoon or nocturnal rainstorms in summer. This work has the objective of investigating the relationships between variabilities of the El Ni?o-South Oscillation (ENSO) and greater epidemics of dengue in Rio de Janeiro city. To accomplish this goal, the analysis and signal decomposition by cross-wavelet transform (WT) was applied to obtain the cross variability associated with variations of power and phase of both signals by characteristic periods and along with the time series. Data considered in the analysis are (the decimal logarithm of normalized value) of the monthly available notifications of dengue worsening, provided by the public health system of Brazil, and the Southern Oscillation Index (SOI) Ni?o 3.4 data, provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), in the period 2000-2017. A maximum cross-wavelet power close to 0.45 was obtained for the representative period of 1 year and also to periods between 3 and 4 years, associated with the positive phase of the SOI index (i.e. , La Ni?a) or with a transition to the positive phase. The evolution of the combined variability of SOI and dengue can be expressed by progressive differences in phase along the time, eventually resulting in yielding phases (i.e., La Niña-Dengue epidemic).
