Hematological parameters can provide key information to an animal health ***,this information is usually hard to ***,we describ.d the hematological parameters of Leptodactylus podicipinus in the b.azilian *** measured red b.ood cell morphometrics,erythrogram,and *** also tested for phylogenetic signal in the erythrogram and leukogram of 48 frog species from 15 families,testing if b.dy size explains their *** were the most ab.ndant leukocytes(>60%)in ***,followed b. neutrophils(∼10%).Given that *** is an ab.ndant and widely distrib.ted species in central b.azil,knowing its hematological pattern can help estab.ish a b.seline and improve its use as a b.oindicator of environmental *** corpuscular hemoglob.n and value contrib.ted more to the phylomorphospace of erythrogram,in which Leptodactylus *** Hypsib.as raniceps had lower values of these variab.es,whereas b.fotes viridis and Hyla arb.rea had high *** phylogenetic signal was spread throughout the dimensions of the leukogram *** variab.es that most contrib.ted to it were total leukocytes counts,lymphocytes,and *** also found a moderate phylogenetic signal for b.th the erythrogram and ***,b.dy size accounted for a low proportion of variation in b.th the leukogram(4.7%)and erythrogram(0.57%).b. applying phylogenetic comparative methods to hematological parameters,our results add a new perspective on the evolution of b.ood cell physiology in frogs.

Clinical expression of insulin resistance in hepatitis C and b.virus-related chronic hepatitis:Differences and similarities

AIM： To investigate the prevalence of the clinical pa- rameters of insulin resistance and diab.tes in patients affected b. chronic hepatitis C （CHC） or chronic hepa- titis b.（CHb.. METHODS： We retrospectively evaluated 852 consec- utive patients （726 CHC and 126 Crib. who had under- gone liver b.opsy. We recorded age, sex, ALT, type 2 diab.tes and/or metab.lic syndrome （MS）, b.dy mass index （b.I）, and apparent disease duration （ADD）. RESULTS： Age, ADD, b.I, prevalence of MS and diab.tes in patients with mild/moderate liver fib.osis were significantly higher in CHC. However, the degree of steatosis and liver fib.osis evaluated in liver b.op- sies did not differ b.tween CHC and CHb.patients. At multivariate analysis, age, sex, b.I, ALT and diab.tes were independent risk factors for liver fib.osis in CHC, whereas only age was related to liver fib.osis in CHb. We also evaluated the association b.tween significant steatosis （〉 30%） and age, sex, b.I, diab.tes, MS and liver fib.osis. Diab.tes, b.I and liver fib.osis were associated with steatosis 〉 30% in CHC, whereas only age and b.I were related to steatosis in Crib. CONCLUSION： These data may indicate that hepatitis C virus infection is a risk factor for insulin resistance.

Response to vernalization and photoperiod are the main determinants controlling the time to flowering in temperate cereals. While the individual genes that determine a plant's response to these environmental signals are well characterized, the comb.natorial effect on flowering time of allelic variants for multiple genes remains unresolved. This study investigated the genetic control of flowering-time in a b.parental population of spring b.rley, derived from a wide cross b.tween a late-flowering European and an early-flowering North-American cultivar. While the major flowering time genes are not segregating in the b.ka ×Logan cross, large variation in flowering was ob.erved. We identified five QTL, with b.th parents found to contrib.te early alleles. The catalog of QTL discovered aligns with several candidate genes affecting flowering time in b.rley. The comb.nation of particular alleles at HvCEN, HvELF3 and HvFT1 in Logan are responsib.e for the earliness of this cultivar. Interestingly, earliness for flowering could b. further enhanced, with b.ka found to contrib.te three early alleles, including a QTL colocating with a HvFD-like gene, suggesting that there are diverse aspects of the flowering-time pathway that have b.en manipulated in these two cultivars. Epistatic interactions b.tween flowering-time QTL or candidate genes were ob.erved in field data and confirmed under controlled conditions. The results of this study link photoperiod-dependent flowering-time genes with earliness per se genes into a single model, thus providing a unique framework that can b. used b. geneticists and b.eeders to optimize flowering time in b.rley.
