Field studies on soil ammonia(NH_(3))volatilization are restricted in many countries owing to the high costs commonly demanded for accurate *** assessed the accuracy of a simple,open chamber design to capture NH_(3)under field conditions,as affected by different chamber placement ***-15 N was surface applied to lysimeters installed in the spaces between maize *** chambers made from plastic bottles were installed on each lysimeter with variations in i)N rates(3,8,13,and 18 g m^(-2)),ii)the height of the chamber above the soil surface(0,5,and 10 mm),and iii)chamber relocation(static ***).reference lysimeters without chambers were used to measure NH_(3)losses by^(15)*** of NH_(3)-N accounted for more than 50%of the applied *** of the chambers had no impact on their NH_(3)-trapping efficiencies,proving to be an unnecessary *** in the height of the chambers above the soil surface affected the capture of NH_(3),but the results still maintained high linearity with the NH_(3)losses quantified by the reference method(r^(2)>0.98).When the same placement scheme used in the introductory study describing the chamber was utilized(static and touching the soil surface),we found a trapping efficiency of 60%,which was very similar to that(57%)obtained in the previous *** results show that this simple,open chamber design can be used with satisfactory accuracy under field conditions,provided that simple,standardized procedures are warranted.

Measuring ammonia(NH_(3))volatilization from urea-fertilized soils is crucial for evaluation of practices that reduce gaseous nitrogen(N)losses in *** small area of chambers used for NH_(3)volatilization measurements compared with the size of field plots may cause significant errors if inadequate sampling strategies are *** aims were:i)to investigate the effect of using multiple open chambers on the variability in the measurement of NH_(3)volatilization in urea-amended field plots and ii)to define the critical period of NH_(3)-N losses during which the concentration of sampling effort is capable of reducing *** use of only one chamber covering 0.015%of the plot(51.84 m^(2))generates a value of NH_(3)-N loss within an expected margin of error of 30%around the true *** reduce the error margin by half(15%),3–7 chambers were required with a mean of 5 chambers per *** the sampling efforts in the first two weeks after urea application,which is usually the most critical period of N losses and associated errors,represents an efficient strategy to lessen uncertainty in the measurements of NH_(3)*** strategy enhances the power of detection of NH_(3)-N loss abatement in field experiments using chambers.

The late-to post-collisional stage in orogenic systems is characterized by the coeval existence of bimodal potassic to ultrapotassic magmatic activity related to partial melting of an enriched lithospheric mantle together with crustal derived *** this paper,we present new whole rock geochemical analyses combined with zircon and titanite U–Pb and zircon Hf isotopic data from potassic to ultrapotassic rocks from six plutons that occur within the Archean Itacambira-Monte Azul block(BIMA),to discuss their petrogenesis and the tectonic implications for the São Francisco *** new U–Pb ages range from ca.2.06 Ga to 1.98 Ga and reveal long-lasting potassic magmatism within the BIMA,which is within the late-to-post-collisional stage of the São Francisco paleocontinent *** ultrapotassic rocks are compatible with a fluid-related metasomatized mantle source enriched by previous subduction events,whereas the potassic rocks are bimodal and have a transitional shoshonitic to A-type *** rocks have a hybrid nature,possible related to the mixing between the mafic potassic/ultrapotassic rocks and high temperature crustal melts of the Archean continental *** results also show an increase of within-plate signature towards the younger potassic *** participation of an important Archean crustal component in the genesis of these rocks is highlighted by the common and occasionally abundant occurrence of Archean inherited *** Hf isotopic record shows that most of the zircon inheritance has dominantly subchondriticεHf(t)values,which fits a crustal reworking derivation from a similar Eo-to Paleoarchean precursor ***,the presence of juvenile 2.36 Ga zircon inheritance in an ultrapotassic sample reveal the existence of a hidden reservoir that is somewhat similar to the described for the Mineiro Belt in southern São Francisco paleocontinent.

A voltammetric sensor based on the electropolymerization of cobalt-poly(methionine)(Co-poly(Met)) on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was developed and applied for the determination of estriol by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) for the first time. The electrochemical properties of the Co-poly(Met)/GCE were analysed by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) were used to characterize the polymers on the GCE surface. The deposition of the Co-poly(Met) film on the GCE surface enhanced the sensor electronic transfer. CV studies revealed that estriol exhibits an irreversible oxidation peak at t0.58 V for the Co-poly(Met)/GCE (vs. Ag/AgCl reference electrode) in 0.10 mol/L Britton-robinson buffer solution (pH=7.0). Different voltammetric scan rates (10-200 mV/s) suggested that the estriol oxidation on the Co-poly(Met)/GCE surface is controlled by adsorption and diffusion processes. Based on the optimized DPV conditions, the linear responses for estriol quantification were from 0.596 μmol/L to 4.76 μmol/L (r2 =0.996) and from 5.66 μmol/L to 9.90 μmol/L (r2 =0.994) with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.0340 μmol/L and a limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.113 μmol/L. The DPV-Co-poly(Met)/GCE method provided good intra-day and inter-day repeatability with rSD values lower than 5%. Also, no interference of real sample matrices was observed on the estriol voltammetric response, making the DPV-Copoly( Met)/GCE highly selective for estriol. The accuracy test showed that the estriol recovery was in the ranges 96.7%-103% and 98.7%-102% for pharmaceutical tablets and human urine, respectively. The estriol quantification in pharmaceutical tablets performed by the Co-poly(Met)/GCE-assisted DPV method was comparable to the official analytical protocols.

France is a country with 67 million inhabitants and is part of the European *** consumption in humans is higher in France as compared to the European average,especially in outpatient settings(1–2).The burden of antibiotic resistance is also high,as compared to the European average,with an estimated 5,500 deaths per year associated with multidrug-resistant bacterial infections(3).Encouraging results have,however,been observed over the last several years:antibiotic consumption in the community,in nursing homes and in hospitals showed a decreasing trend,as well as certain resistant bacteria,such as 3rd-generation cephalosporin-or fluoroquinolone-resistant Escherichia coli(1–2,4–5).The COVID-19 pandemic has had a dramatic impact on antibiotic consumption and its long-term impact on antibiotic resistance is being carefully monitored(1).

Effects of chemical sterilization of the culture media,porous membranes and luminosity on in vitro culture of Eucalyptus grandis×Eucalyptus urophylla

Hybrid combinations of Eucalyptus have increased due to expansion of plantations into unconventional areas and to the search for higher quality ***,most of these species have difficulties surviving in vitro *** chlorine and sealing systems are often used to reduce contamination and increase gas *** aim of the present study is to evaluate the establishment,multiplication,elongation and adventitious rooting of *** × *** clones(C1 and C2) and four active chlorine concentrations(0.000%,0.001%,0.003%,and 0.005%) were tested in the establishment and multiplication *** sealing forms(W/M,1/M and 3/M) and the same four active chlorine concentrations were applied to the elongation *** luminosities(dark and light)and three sealings(W/M,1/M and 3/M) were tested during adventitious *** chlorine concentration of0.005% led to the lowest fungal contamination rate and to the highest in vitro *** chlorine concentration of 0.003% resulted in the greatest length and highest number of shoots per explant in the multiplication *** were no phytotoxicity problems and the quality of plants grown in an environment with active chlorine was maintained in comparison with those grown in an *** increase in gas exchange in ventilation systems had a positive impact on the in vitro growth and development of plants.

We report here the activated carbon and cobalt hexacyanoferrate composite,which is applied as the electrode materials in symmetric supercapacitors containing a 1.0 M Na_(2)SO_(4) aqueous *** novel material combines high specific surface area and electrochemical stability of activated carbon with the redox properties of cobalt hexacyanoferrate,resulting in maximum specific capacitance of 329 F g^(-1) with large voltage working window of 2.0 *** studies indicated that cobalt hexacyanoferrate introduces important pseudocapacitive properties accounting for the overall charge-storage process,especially when Ir gravimetric currents(e.g.,0.05 A g^(-1))and up to 1.0 V,the presence of cobalt hexacyanoferrate improves the specific energy for more than 300%.In addition,to better understanding the energy storage process we also provided a careful investigation of the electrode materials under dynamic polarization conditions using the in situ raman spectroscopy and synchrotron light Xray diffraction *** complementary findings were obtained in these *** believe that this novel electrode material is promising for applications regarding the energy-storage process in pseudocapacitors with long lifespan properties.

The advantages of Low Pressure Carburizing in the Heat Treatment Subcontracting Business

Low Pressure Carburizing (LPC) was introduced in the 90’s in the western Europe Heat Treatment business, mainly for in-house applications where it was especially appreciated for Carburizing of transmission parts. However the success of the LPC units installed for gears Carburizing in the automotive industry has hindered the development of the process in other fields - like subcontracting business -, where its advantages deserve to be enlightened. After a brief review of the principle of the process, the interest of its classical application to transmission parts is described, underlining peculiarly the reduction of the distortion observed when LPC is associated with high pressure gas quenching. Then the less-known advantages of the LPC process, like the high accuracy and reproducibility of the results, the modeling possibility and the simulation easiness, the case-depth uniformity and the full flexibility of the units are considered, showing how they can be beneficial to subcontracting business.

Electrooxidation of sulfanilamide and its voltammetric determination in pharmaceutical formulation,human urine and serum on glassy carbon electrode

For the first time, sulfanilamide(SFD) was determined in otologic solution, human urine and serum by electroanalytical techniques on glassy carbon electrode(GCE). The cyclic voltammetry(CV) experiments showed an irreversible oxidation peak at t 1.06 V in 0.1 mol/L BrBS(p H ? 2.0) at 50 m V/s. Different voltammetric scan rates(from 10 to 250 m V/s) suggested that the oxidation of SFD on the GCE was a diffusioncontrolled process. Square-wave voltammetry(SWV) method under optimized conditions showed a linear response to SFD from 5.0 to 74.7 μmol/L(r ? 0.999) with detection and quantification limits of 0.92 and3.10 μmol/L, respectively. The developed SWV method showed better results for detection limit and linear range than the chronoamperometry method. It has been successfully applied to determine SFD concentration in pharmaceutical formulation, human urine and serum samples with recovery close to 100%.

Incidence and mortality of acute and chronic pancreatitis in the Netherlands:A nationwide record-linked cohort study for the years 1995-2005

AIM:To analyze trends in incidence and mortality of acute pancreatitis(AP) and chronic pancreatitis(CP) in the Netherlands and for international standard ***:A nationwide cohort is identified through record linkage of hospital data for AP and CP,accumulated from three nationwide Dutch registries:the hospital discharge register,the population register,and the death certificate ***-and age-group specific incidence rates of AP and CP are defined for the period 2000-2005 and mortality rates of AP and CP for the period ***,incidence and mortality rates over time are reported for Dutch and international(European and World Health Organization) standard ***:Incidence of AP per 100000 persons per year increased between 2000 and 2005 from 13.2(95%CI:12.6-13.8) to 14.7(95%CI:14.1-15.3).Incidence of AP for males increased from 13.8(95%CI:12.9-14.7) to 15.2(95%CI:14.3-16.1),for females from 12.7(95%CI:11.9-13.5) to 14.2(95%CI:13.4-15.1).Irregular patterns over time emerged for *** mean incidence per 100000 persons per year was 1.77,for males 2.16,and for females *** for AP fluctuated during 1995-2005 between 6.9 and 11.7 per million persons per year and was almost similar for males and *** CP,mortality for males fluctuated between 1.1(95%CI:0.6-2.3) and 4.0(95%CI:2.8-5.8),for females between 0.7(95%CI:0.3-1.6) and 2.0(95%CI:1.2-3.2).Incidence and mortality of AP and CP increased markedly with *** rates were lowest for World Health Organization standard ***:Incidence of AP steadily increased while incidence of CP *** for both AP and CP remained fairly *** burden and health care costs probably will increase because of an ageing Dutch population.
