This retrospective study, the first of its kind in Mauritania, was carried out at the military hospital of Nouakchott. We sought to approximate the epidemio-logical, anatomopathological profile of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) and cervico-facial (CF) cancers in Mauritania. Over a period of two years, from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020, we noted 36 histologically confirmed cases, they represented 15.47% of all patients consulted in ENT and CF cancers affected the age group between 25 and 70 years, the age group most affected was that of 50 and 59 years, with 33.33% of cases. More affected in the proportion of 2 men to women, which can be explained by the risk factors mainly found in men, including smoking. First rank was cancers of the upper aero-digestive tract, the pharyngolarynx in head. Histologically, ENT and CF cancers were dominated by squamous cell carcinomas 78%, well ahead of papillary carcinomas 8% and vesicular thyroid carcinomas 5%, UCNTs, adenosquamous carcinomas and lymphomas each represented 3%.

Histoplasmosis is an opportunistic granulomatous fungal infection. Peritoneal histoplasmosis (PH) is a rare form. The first case of PH was described in 1970 but this is the first case reported in Mauritania. We report the case of a 60-year-old male patient with a history of pulmonary tuberculosis, treated and declared cured, and partial epileptic seizures treated with Carbamazepine. Contrast computed tomography of the abdomen showed a large mass with a large intraperitoneal fluid component with a finely calcified wall in places, for which laparoscopy and biopsy were performed, identifying Histoplasma capsulatum infection. The subject received treatment with amphotericin B deoxycholate with good evolution, and outpatient management with itraconazole. PH is a rare entity that requires high clinical suspicion, especially in immunocompetent patients. The patient was informed that non-identifying information from the case would be submitted for publication, and he provided consent.

Cerium conversion treatment was applied on magnesium coatings in a solution containing CeC13. The composition ot the cenum conversion layer on magnesium was investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS）, It was revealed that the composition predominately consisted of a three-valent state cerium compound with a relative abundance around 90%. Some of Ce^3＋ was oxidized to Ce^4＋. electrochemical impedance spectroscopy results revealed that the total impedance of cerium-treated samples increased for a short immersion time in NaC1 solution before coating deteriorating. This deterioration was due to the coating porosity increasing and the breakdown of the conversion layer

Corrosion protection afforded by a magnesium coating treated in cerium salt solution on steel substrate was investigated using open circuit potential, polarization curves, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy （EIS） in 0.005 M sodium chloride solution （NaCl）. The morphology of the surface was characterized by scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, energy dispersive spectroscopy （EDS）, and X-ray diffraction （XRD）. The cerium treated coating was obtained by immersion in CeCl3 solution. The results showed that the corrosion resistance of the treated magnesium coating was improved. The corrosion potential of the treated coating was found to be nobler than that of the untreated magnesium coating and the corrosion current decreased significantly. Impedance results showed that the cerium treatment increased corrosion protection. The improvement of anti-corrosion properties was attributed to the formation of cerium oxides and hydroxides that gave rise to a physical barrier effect.

In this paper, we theoretically study the effects of doping concentration ND and an external electric field on the intersubband transitions in InxAl（l-x）N/InyGa（l-y）N single quantum well by solving the Schrodinger and Poisson equations self-consistently. Obtained results including transition energies, the band structure, and the optical absorption have been discussed. The lowest three intersubband transitions （E2 -el）, （E3 -el）, and （E3 -E2） are calculated as functions of doping concentration ND. By increasing the doping concentration ND, the depletion effect can be reduced, and the ionized electrons will compensate the internal electric field which results from the spontaneous polarization. Our results show that an optimum concentration ND exists for which the transition 0.8 eV （1.55 μm） is carried out. Finally, the dependence of the optical absorption α13（ω） on the external electric field and doping concentration is studied. The maximum of the optical absorption can be red-shifted or blue-shifted through varying the doping concentration and the external electric field. The obtained results can be used for designing optical fiber telecommunications operating at 1.55 μm.

Static Analysis of Functionally Graded Sandwich Plates Using an Efficient and Simple Refined Theory

In this paper, a new displacement based high-order shear deformation theory is introduced for the static response of functionally graded sandwich plate. Unlike any other theory, the number of unknown functions involved is only four, as against five in case of other shear deformation theories. The theory presented is variationally consistent, has strong similarity with classical plate theory in many aspects, does not require shear correction factor, and gives rise to transverse shear stress variation such that the transverse shear stresses vary parabolically across the thickness satisfying shear stress free surface conditions. Two common types of functionally graded sandwich plates, namely, the sandwich with fimctionally graded facesheet and homogeneous core and the sandwich with homogeneous facesheet and functionally graded core, are considered. Governing equations are derived from the principle of virtual displacements. The closed-form solution of a simply supported rectangular plate subjected to sinu- soidal loading has been obtained by using the Navier method. The validity of the present theory is investigated by comparing some of the present results with those of the classical, the first-order and the other higher-order theories. It can be concluded that the proposed theory is accurate and simple in solving the static bending behavior of functionally graded sandwich plates.

We study wave splitting procedures for acoustic or electromagnetic scattering problems. The idea of these procedures is to split some scattered field into a sum of fields coming from different spatial regions such that this information can be used either for inversion algo- rithms or for active noise control. Splitting algorithms can be based on general boundary layer potential representation or Green＇s representation formula. We will prove the unique decomposition of scattered wave outside the specified reference domain G and the unique decomposition of far-field pattern with respect to different reference domain G. Further, we employ the splitting technique for field reconstruction for a scatterer with two or more separate components, by combining it with the point source method for wave recovery. Us-ing the decomposition of scattered wave as well as its far-field pattern, the wave splitting procedure proposed in this paper gives an efficient way to the computation of scattered wave near the obstacle, from which the multiple obstacles which cause the far-field pattern can be reconstructed separately. This considerably extends the range of the decomposition methods in the area of inverse scattering. Finally, we will provide numerical examples to demonstrate the feasibility of the splitting method.

In this study,different samples of alkyd resins based on Citrullus colocynthis seed oil(CCSO)—which has a high content of linoleic acid—were prepared as a renewable raw ***(I),medium(II),and long(III)alkyd resins were synthesized using oil,glycerol,and phthalic anhydride(PA)in different *** mahaleb seed oil(PMSO),which contains conjugated linolenic acid,was blended with CCSO in different proportions to examine the effect of PMSO on the film properties of alkyd resins(IV and V).All synthesized resins were characterized by FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopic *** resins were also cured by an epoxy resin and their film properties(pencil hardness,adhesion,gloss,and chemical resistance)were *** of these alkyds reveals that CCSO can be used as a new potential raw material for coating applications.

The aim of this study was to characterize the biological stability and maturity degree of compost during a controlled pile-composting trial of mixed vegetable residues （VR） collected from markets of Tunis City with residues of Posidonia oceanica （PoR）, collected from Tunis beaches. The accumulation in beaches （as well as their removal） constitutes a serious environmental problem in all Mediterranean countries particularly in Tunisia. Aerobic-thermophilic composting is the most reasonable way to profit highly-valuable content of organic matter in these wastes for agricultural purposes. The physical, chemical, and biological parameters were monitored during composting over 150 d. The most appropriate parameters were selected to establish the maturity degree. The main result of this research was the deduction of the following maturity criterion：（a） C/N ratio 〈 15; （b） NH4^＋-N 〈 400 mg/kg; （c） CO2-C 〈 2000 mg CO2-C/kg; （d） dehydrogenase activity 〈 1 mg TPF/g dry matter; （e） germination index （GI）〉 80%. These five parameters, considered jointly are indicative of a high maturity degree and thus of a high-quality organic amendment which employed in a rational way, may improve soil fertility and soil quality. The mature compost was relatively rich in N （13.0 g/kg）, P （4.74 g/kg） and MgO （15.80 g/kg）. Thus composting definitively constitutes the most optimal option to exploit these wastes.

A robust smile recognition system could be widely used for many real-world *** of a facial smile in an unconstrained setting is difficult due to the invertible and wide variety in face *** this paper,an adaptive model for smile expression classification is suggested that integrates a fast features extraction algorithm and cascade *** model takes advantage of the intrinsic association between face detection,smile,and other face features to alleviate the over-fitting issue on the limited training set and increase classification *** features are extracted taking into account to exclude any unnecessary coefficients in the feature vector;thereby enhancing the discriminatory capacity of the extracted features and reducing the computational ***,the main causes of error in learning are due to noise,bias,and *** helps to minimize these *** of multiple classifiers decrease variance,especially in the case of unstable classifiers,and may produce a more reliable classification than a single ***,a shortcoming of bagging as the best ensemble classifier is its random selection,where the classification performance relies on the chance to pick an appropriate subset of training *** suggested model employs a modified form of bagging while creating training sets to deal with this challenge(error-based bootstrapping).The experimental results for smile classification on the JAFFE,CK+,and CK+48 benchmark datasets show the feasibility of our proposed model.
