An Investigation into the Adhesion Strength of Diamond Like c.rbon Multilayer c.ating (DLc.TiN/Ti/c./Ni)

Advanc.ment in vac.um tec.nologies and vapor deposition proc.sses during last dec.des has led to the introduc.ion of many modern c.atings on metal c.tting tools. Even in suc. an advanc.d vac.um c.ating tec.niques, the failure is not due to the wear of the c.ating but rather due to the lac. of c.ating adhesion to the substrate. In this work, the c.ating adhesion test results were performed whic. is based on the Roc.well indentation tests. This c.ating adhesion tests were performed as per VDI standards 3198, 1991 for d.c. magnetron sputter deposition of diamond like c.rbon multilayer c.ating (DLc./ TiN/ Ti / c. / Ni) on tool substrate. Multilayer c.ating was deposited on tool substrates at different sputtering parameters/c.nditions suc. as power density, partial pressure, substrate temperature and reac.ive gases. The c.ated multilayer films were c.arac.erized by experimental tec.niques suc. as X-ray diffrac.ometer whic. measures the material deposited, mic.o Raman spec.rosc.py and TEM to c.ec. DLc. Roc.well indentation to examine adhesion strength, optic.l profilometer to measure thic.ness of c.ating. Ni inc.eases the c. adhesion on tool substrate. c. ac.ommodates the shear stress induc.d by the films / substrate and the mismatc. in thermal expansion c.effic.ent, while Ti and TiN promote better DLc.bonding. As the target power was inc.eased the adhesion strength, mic.o hardness and deposition rate were observed to improve. Inc.ease in target power and substrate temperature enhanc.s adhesion strength. Proper substrate preparation and sequenc. of c.eaning proc.sses are the c.uc.al fac.ors for the enhanc.ment of adhesion strength. The sputter deposition c.nditions for the above mentioned multilayer c.atings are identified in this work to get improved quality with partic.lar referenc. to adhesion and surfac. finish.

Traumatic.brain injury, c.ronic.traumatic.enc.phalopathy, and Alzheimer's disease are three distinc. neurologic.l disorders that share c.mmon pathophysiologic.l mec.anisms involving neuroinflammation. One sequela of neuroinflammation inc.udes the pathologic.hyperphosphorylation of tau protein, an endogenous mic.otubule-assoc.ated protein that protec.s the integrity of neuronal c.toskeletons. Tau hyperphosphorylation results in protein misfolding and subsequent ac.umulation of tau tangles forming neurotoxic.aggregates. These misfolded proteins are c.arac.eristic.of traumatic.brain injury, c.ronic.traumatic.enc.phalopathy, and Alzheimer's disease and c.n lead to downstream neuroinflammatory proc.sses, inc.uding assembly and ac.ivation of the inflammasome c.mplex. Inflammasomes refer to a family of multimeric.protein units that, upon ac.ivation, release a c.sc.de of signaling molec.les resulting in c.spase-induc.d c.ll death and inflammation mediated by the release of interleukin-1β c.tokine. One spec.fic.inflammasome, the NOD-like rec.ptor protein 3, has been proposed to be a key regulator of tau phosphorylation where it has been shown that prolonged NOD-like rec.ptor protein 3 ac.ivation ac.s as a c.usal fac.or in pathologic.l tau ac.umulation and spreading. This review begins by desc.ibing the epidemiology and pathophysiology of traumatic.brain injury, c.ronic.traumatic.enc.phalopathy, and Alzheimer's disease. Next, we highlight neuroinflammation as an overriding theme and disc.ss the role of the NOD-like rec.ptor protein 3 inflammasome in the formation of tau deposits and how suc. tauopathic.entities spread throughout the brain. We then propose a novel framework linking traumatic.brain injury, c.ronic.traumatic.enc.phalopathy, and Alzheimer's disease as inflammasomedependent pathologies that exist along a temporal c.ntinuum. Finally, we disc.ss potential therapeutic.targets that may interc.pt this pathway and ultimately minimize long-term neurologic.l dec.ine.

Nematodes play an important role in ec.systems;however,very little is known about their assembly proc.sses and the fac.ors influenc.ng *** studied nematode c.mmunities in bulk soils from three Asian mountain ec.systems to determine the assembly proc.sses of free-living nematode metac.mmunities and their driving *** eac. mountain,elevations span a range of c.imatic.c.nditions with the potential to reveal assembly proc.sses that predominate ac.oss multiple biomes.A phylogenetic.null modeling framework was used to analyze 18S rRNA gene amplic.ns to quantify various assembly *** found that phylogenetic.turnover between nematode c.mmunities on all mountains was dominated by stoc.astic.proc.sses,with“undominated proc.sses”being the most predominant stoc.astic.*** has a signific.nt impac. on the relative importanc. of deterministic.and stoc.astic.proc.sses.A variety of c.imatic.and edaphic.variables signific.ntly influenc.d the variations in c.mmunity assembly proc.sses with elevation,even though their impac.s were not c.nsistent between the ***,our results indic.te that free-living nematode metac.mmunities in a wide range of environments are largely struc.ured by stoc.astic.proc.sses rather than by nic.e-based deterministic.proc.sses,suggesting that metac.mmunities of soil free-living nematodes may respond to c.imate c.ange in a largely unpredic.able way.
