Standard Penetration Test（SPT） and Cone Penetration Test（CPT） are the most frequently used field tests to estimate soil parameters for geotechnical analysis and *** soil parameters are related to the SPT *** contrast,CPT is becoming more popular for site investigation and geotechnical *** of CPT data with SPT N-value is very beneficial since most of the field parameters are related to SPT N-values.A back-propagation artificial neural network（ANN） model was developed to predict the N6o-value from CPT *** used in this study consisted of 109 CPT-SPT pairs for sand,sandy silt,and silty sand *** ANN model input variables are：CPT tip resistance（qc）,effective vertical stress（σ’v）,and CPT sleeve friction（fs）.A different set of SPT-CPT data was used to check the reliability of the developed ANN *** was shown that ANN model either under-predicted the N60-value by 7-16%or over-predicted it by 7-20%.It is concluded that back-propagation neural networks is a good tool to predict N60-value from CPT data with acceptable accuracy.

Objective:To review the problems encountered in surgical treatment of complicated pulmonary hydatid cysts and to evaluate the functional results in the surgery of complicated hydatid ***:The medical records for 89 patients with complicated pulmonary hydatidosis were retrospectively *** series consisted of 47 male and 42 female patients with a mean age of 32±8 *** performed during January 2000 to December 2007,all patients were treated *** related to surgical procedures performed,postoperative morbidity,hospitalization time,and cyst recurrence were collected from each individuals records,and the group findings were ***:Among these cysts,58 were perforated,23 were infected,and 13 were cysts with pleural *** plus capitonnage was the most frequently performed operative technique(n=43),followed by cystotomy plus closure of bronchial openings(n = 28),pericystectomy plus capitonnage(n=13),decortications(n=7),lobectomy and segmentectomy(n=3).The 11 cases with coexisting liver cysts were approached by right *** complications developed in 12 patients(13.4%).Conclusion:Surgery is the primary mode of treatment for patients with pulmonary hydatid *** cases have higher rates of preoperative and postoperative complications and require longer hospitalization time and more extensive surgical procedures than uncomplicated *** underlines the need for immediate surgery in any patient who is diagnosed with pulmonary hydatidosis when it is indicated.

Identifying the factors affecting drinking water consumption is essential to the rational management of water resources and effective environment protection. In this study, the effects of the factors on rural drinking water demand were studied using the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) and hybrid models, such as the ANFIS-genetic algorithm (GA), ANFIS-particle swarm optimization (PSO), and support vector machine (SVM)-simulated annealing (SA). The rural areas of Hamadan Province in Iran were selected for the case study. Five drinking water consumption factors were selected for the assessment according to the literature, data availability, and the characteristics of the study area (such as precipitation, relative humidity, temperature, the number of subscribers, and water price). The results showed that the standard errors of ANFIS, ANFIS-GA, ANFIS-PSO, and SVM-SA were 0.669, 0.619, 0.705, and 0.578, respectively. Therefore, the hybrid model SVM-SA outperformed other models. The sensitivity analysis showed that of the parameters affecting drinking water consumption, the number of subscribers significantly affected the water consumption rate, while the average temperature was the least significant factor. Water price was a factor that could be easily controlled, but it was always one of the least effective parameters due to the low water fee.

BACKGROUND Late infantile ceroid lipofuscinosis is a rare neurodegenerative disorder that appears between the ages of 2 and 4 years and is difficult to diagnose. In this report we present two sisters with this condition, and the clinical course consisted of delayed developmental skills initially and later regression of previously acquired skills. The cases were initially considered as childhood disintegrative disorder(CDD); however, when whole exome sequencing(WES) genetic testing was done, they proved to be variant late infantile ceroid lipofuscinosis. This is the first report from *** SUMMARY Clinical presentation included developmental delay and initially speech delay,followed by lose of sphincter control. Motor development was normal until 4 years of age, then they developed ataxia(fear of going downstairs) and weakness while walking. Atonic and myoclonic seizures become intractable, and this was followed by inability to stand or sit and loss of expressive language. In addition to complete blood count test, liver function test, kidney function test, serum electrolyte test, and blood sugar test, serum amino acid profile, B12 level test,thyroid function test, and a brain computed tomography scan were also *** electroencephalogram showed a generalized spike and wave pattern, and magnetic resonance imaging showed little to no abnormalities. After dealing with the cases as CDD, WES testing proved a final diagnosis of variant late infantile ceroid lipofuscinosis. Background Although elderly patients have been included in published series of catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation （AF）, clinicalbenefit and safety remain still less defined in this population. A retrospective analysis of the results of catheter ablation for AF in a large volumecenter focused on comparison of elderly patients with the rest of the patient cohort was conducted in this study. Methods Consecutive patientswho underwent catheter ablation for AF between January 2001 and December 2016 were analysed. A total population of 3197 patients wasdichotomized by the age of 70 years （394 elderly vs. 2803 younger subjects）. Patients were followed in terms of arrhythmia status and sur-vival for a median period of 18 vs. 21 and 35 vs. 57 months, respectively. Results Elderly patients were more frequently females （49% vs.29%, P 〈 0.0001）, had a history of hypertension （79% vs. 57%, P 〈 0.0001）, diabetes （16% vs. 11%, P 〈 0.01）, stroke （9% vs. 6%, P 〈 0.01）,coronary/peripheral artery disease （14% vs. 8%, P 〈 0.0001）, and CHAzDS2-VASc score （3.1 ± 1.3 vs. 1.5 ± 1.2 s, P 〈 0.0001）. Major com-plications were more frequent in elderly （5.3% vs. 3.2%, P = 0.03）; however, this difference was driven by vascular complications （3.6% vs.1.9%, P = 0.04）. There were comparable rates of cerebrovascular （0.3 vs. 0.3%） or nonvascular complications （1.8 vs. 1.2%）. Good arrhyth-mia control was inferior in elderly patients as compared with the rest of the cohort, both without and with antiarrhythmic drugs： 44.2% vs.58.2% （P 〈 0.0001） and 78.2 vs. 83.2% （P 〈 0.01）, respectively. Poor arrhythmia control was associated with relative risk of all-cause mor-tality of 2.7 （95% CI： 1.1-6.4） in elderly patients and 1.4 （95% CI： 0.9-2.0） in younger subjects. Conclusions Catheter ablation for AF inelderly patients is safe although somewhat less effective. Good arrhythmia control is associated with better survival, especially in elderly patients.

Evolutionary neural network(ENN)shows high performance in function optimization and in finding approximately global optima from searching large and complex *** is one of the most efficient and adaptive optimization techniques used widely to provide candidate solutions that lead to the fitness of the *** has the extraordinary ability to search the global and learning the approximate optimal solution regardless of the gradient information of the error ***,ENN requires high computation and processing which requires parallel processing platforms such as field programmable gate arrays(FPGAs)and graphic processing units(GPUs)to achieve a good *** work involves different new implementations of ENN by exploring and adopting different techniques and opportunities for parallel *** versions of ENN algorithm have also been implemented and parallelized on FPGAs platform for low latency by exploiting the parallelism and pipelining *** data form mass spectrometry data(MSD)application was tested to examine and verify our *** is a very important and extensive computation application which needs to search and find the optimal features(peaks)in MSD in order to distinguish cancer patients from control *** algorithm is also implemented and parallelized on single core and GPU platforms for comparison *** computation time of our optimized algorithm on FPGA and GPU has been improved by a factor of 6.75 and 6,respectively.
