CH_4 uptake flux of Leymus chinensis steppe during rapid growth season in Inner Mongolia,China

The influence of near ground atmosphere CH4 concentration, soil water content, soil Eh, plants, soil temperature, and pH on CH4 uptake flux of Leymus chinensis steppe during rapid growth season was studied using field in-situ measurement in Xilin River basin of Inner Mongolia, China. The results showed that CH4 uptake flux was positively correlated with near ground atmosphere CH4 concentration and soil Eh but negatively correlated with soil water content. Precipitation may decrease the CH4 flux by increasing the soil water content. The average fluxes of three treatments during the observation period were 1.52 (natural conditions, 1.51 (aboveground plants were excluded), and 2.00 mg m?2 d?1 (all plants were removed), respectively. The difference between the CH4 flux of natural condition treatment and that of removing aboveground plants treatment is small, whereas the flux of removing all plants treatment is larger than the other two treatments. This means that the contribution of aboveground plants to CH4 uptake flux is smaller than that of roots or roots-removing process. CH4 uptake flux is not sensitive to soil temperature and the narrow-ranged soil pH (6.36–7.86). The Leymus chinensis steppe acts as a sink for CH4, and thus more studies should be focused on its affecting factors and related mechanisms.

R-Enantiomer of the β-receptor antagonist N-[3-acetyl-4-(2-hydroxy-3-isopropylamino-propoxy)phenyl] butanamide with high enantioselectivity was synthesized from cheap starting materials and enantiopure chiral reagent through an efficient,convenient and practical synthetic *** product was detected by 1H NMR,13C NMR,and MS,and the enatiomeric excess was determined by chiral HPLC analysis using a chiracel AD-H column.

The purpose of the paper is to extract and make the best use of rainfall information contained in the chinese historical archives of Qing Dynasty, and reconstruct the precipitation series during *** study followed the Yu-Fen-Cun (rainfall infiltration depth) observation method in Qing Dynasty, to conduct soil infiltration experiment under the natural rainfall conditions during *** related parameters, such as precipitation, intensity, initial soil moisture content and infiltration depth have been measured at 10 stations (east of 105°E, 30°-40°N) with representative climatic conditions and soil physical texture in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River and Yangtze-Huaihe River *** statistical results indicate that precipitation is the primary infiuencing factor to infiltration depth and is positively correlated with the infiltration ***, the efiects of every factor on infiltration depth are significantly difierent between the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River and Yangtze-Huaihe River ***, the relationship equations of precipitation and infiltration depth are established for each site, most of which can pass over 60% of the variance explanations and provide quantitative models to reconstruct the precipitation series using Yu-Fen-Cun records in Qing Dynasty.

Over an oriented even dimensional Riemannian manifold(M 2m ,ds2 ), in terms of the Levi-Civita connection form Ω and the canonical form Θ on the bundle of positive orthonormal frames, we give a detailed description of the twistor bundle Гm = SO(2m)/U(m)? J +(@#@ M,ds2 ) →M. The integrability on an almost complex structureJ compatible with the metric and the orientation, is shown to be equivalent to the fact that the corresponding cross section of the twistor bundle is holomorphic with respect toJ and the canonical almost complex structureJ 1 onJ +(M,ds2 ), by using moving frame theory. Moreover, for various metrics and a fixed orientation onM, a canonical bundle isomorphism is established. As a consequence, we generalize a celebrated theorem of Lebrun.

In this paper, the dual code of the binary cyclic code of length 2 n-1 with three zeros α, α t 1 and α t 2 is proven to have five nonzero Hamming weights in the case that n 4 is even and t1 = 2 n/2 + 1, t2 = 2 n-1-2 n/2+1 + 1 or 2 n/2 + 3, where α is a primitive element of the finite field F 2 n . The dual code is a divisible code of level n/2+1, and its weight distribution is also completely determined. When n = 4, the dual code satisfies Ward's bound.

Experimental study on phosphorus release from sediments of shallow lake in wave flume

Influence of wave on sediment resuspension and nutrients release from sediments, collected from Lake Taihu and Lake Chaohu, was studied in flume experiments. Under strong-wave conditions, concentrations of suspended solids (SS), total phosphorus (TP) and dissolved total phosphorus (DTP) in overlying water were increased significantly following the sediments re-suspension. During the experiments on sediments of Lake Taihu and Lake Chaohu, TP concentrations increased 6 times and 3 times, and DTP concentration increased 100% and 70% more than it in presuspension, respectively. Concentration of soluble reactive phosphorus (SRP) of experiment on sediment of Lake Taihu increased 25%. During the massive sediment suspension, the dissolved phosphorus in pore water and much of the phosphorus adsorbed by the sediment particles were released into overlying water. The phenomena in this wave flume experiment are quite similar to the situation observed in situ of Lake Taihu. The critical wave stresses of sediment re-suspension are nearly equal. The change of concentrations of SS, TP, and SRP was the same as that in situ *** study showed that concentrations of TP and SRP in lake water could be increased significantly by wave disturbance. Phosphorus release was significantly enhanced by wave disturbance at the beginning of massive sediment re-suspension, but decreased later.

An analytical general solution is derived for the non-Fourier Wang bioheat transfer model with special internal heat production. It is valuable for finding the special solutions with specified conditions and for expanding the understanding of the non-Fourier heat conduction phenomena in living tissues, for example, the controversial temperature fluctuation effects. This analytical solution can also be used as the benchmark solution to check the numerical calculations and to develop various numerical computational approaches. because there is an arbitrary function in the expression of internal heat production, this solution can actually be applied to many types of internal heat production distributions.

To elucidate the possible functions of endogenous hormones in the flowering of chestnut,concentrations of four endogenous hor-mones[indole-3-acetic acid(IAA),gibberellic acid(GA),abscisic acid(AbA),zeatin riboside(ZR))and the soluble sugars content were measured in both normal and developmentally abnormal chinese chestnut(Castanea mollissima)during flowering and fruiting *** results showed that the contents of ZR,AbA,and GA exhibited a significant dierent pattern in normal trees from that in abnormal trees,while the contents of IAA and soluble sugars showed a similar change pattern between *** results suggest that quantitative changes in endogenous hormones may correspond to dierent flowering and fruiting mechanisms.

Leaf cuticle analysis has long been a powerful tool for fossil plant identification, systematics, and palaeoclimatological recon- struction. In recent decades the application of stomatal frequency data that are relied on precise calculation of stomata on plant fossil cuticles to reconstruct ancient atmospheric CO2 concentration made the preparation of cuticular membrane with sufficient size a critical technique in palaeoclimatological research. However, for plants with originally thin and fragile cuticles, e.g., most deciduous plants, conventional techniques sometimes fail to obtain cuticular membranes with sufficient size, or sometimes unable to recover any. This has largely hampered the usage of fossil cuticle analysis in palaeobotanical and palaeo- climatological research. Here, we describe a new method using clear nail polish as a medium to ＂strengthen＂ the originally thin and fragile cuticles prior to maceration procedures. We demonstrate the method by using middle Eocene Metasequoia fossils that were notorious for the difficulty of recovering large-sized clean cuticular membranes due to their thin and fragile nature. Metasequoia, with well-documented and widely-distributed fossil records since the Late Cretaceous and with a living repre- sentative, 114. glyptostroboides, as a comparative reference, bas been widely used as a model genus for the study of evolution of plants, palaeoclimatological reconstruction, and plant adaptation to climate changes. but its deciduous habit produces thin cuticles and makes the preparation of clean cuticular membranes a tedious process. The new method successfully allows us to recover its delicate cuticular membranes with sufficient sizes for SEM observation and stomatal frequency analysis.
