To exploit the potential biological activities of azabicyclic based, seven 2r, 4c-diaryl-3-azabicyclo [3.3.1] nonan-9-one-2’-thienoyl hydrazone were synthesized. The structural elucidation and stereochemistry of these compound assigned by FT-IR, 1H, 13C and 2D NMR spectral data. The Structural Activity Relationship (SAR) of the target compounds were examined for their in vitro anti-proliferative, antioxidant and antimicrobial activities. The initial screen was treated against human liver cancer cell lines (HepG2) with IC50 values determined by MTT assay. Fluoro substitution at para position of phenyl ring compound 12 showed more antiproliferative activity against HepG2 at half maximum inhibitory concentration (IC50 = 3.76 μg/mL) than other target hydrazones. The mechanism of the antitumor action of active compound 12 was investigated through Hoechst stain 33342 analyses. It indicated that the compound inhibited HepG2 cancer cells proliferation by triggering apoptotic cell death. The Free radical scavenging activity of all synthesized compounds were evaluated with , and radicals. The compounds 11 (IC50 rang 3.78 - 4.31 μg/mL) and 15 (IC50 rang 4.61 - 5.16 μg/mL) were exhibited higher free radical scavenging activity than standard BHT drug. Besides, all the target compounds were screened for their in vitro antibacterial and antifungal activity against a spectrum of microbial organisms by using twofold dilution method. These studies proved that halogen substituted compounds 12, 13 and 14 were showed excellent inhibitory potency at lowest minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) range of 6.25 - 25.5 μg/mL. Nevertheless, multiple mechanisms regulating the antioxidant and anticancer effects of the hybrid molecules need to be further investigations.

Objective: Obesity and hyperlipidemia is the major cause of many pathological diseases with an increase side effects using allopathic drugs. The present study focuses on the effect of Ixora coccinea on Triton X-100 induced hyperlipidemia in rats and associated ***: In vitro radical scavenging activity of I. coccinea was assessed using DPPH, FRAP and hydrogen peroxide. In vivo antiobesity and antihyperlipidimic activity of I. coccinea was tested in Triton X-100 induced hyperlipidemic rats and assessed for its biochemical parameters in blood and tissue *** relationship between physiological responses and regulation of body temperature was investigated by using animal surface temperature images captured with infrared ***: The results of mineral analysis, antioxidant, total flavonoid and phenolic content represented high amount of mineral and had the potential to scavenge free radicals tested with DPPH, FRAP and hydrogen peroxide radicals with dose dependent activity. The highest activity was observed in aqueous extract, DPPH with 71.5% inhibition, FRAP with 56.8%, H2 O2 with 33% activity at 100 μg/mL *** X-100 induced hyperlipidemic rats when treated with I. coccinea aqueous extract showed significant activity by regulating the biochemical parameters and maintaining the lipid profile by decreasing TC,LDL-C, VLDL-C, TG and improving HDL-C levels. Similarly, the elevated levels of creatinine, urea, uric acid,AST, ALT, ALP due to induction of hyperlipidemia, were brought back to near normal levels after treatment with I. coccinea. The levels of tissue anti-oxidants enzymes like SOD and CAT were also found to be improved in treated I. coccinea groups. BACKGROUND Oesophageal cancer is the fourth most common cause of cancer-related deaths in *** squamous cell carcinomas(ESCCs)arise from the epithelial layer,and commonly present as polypoidal,ulcerative or ulceroproliferative growth in the oesophageal *** contrast,oesophageal submucosal tumours are a distinct group of tumours arising from the mesenchyme(examples include leiomyoma,fibrovasculoma,lipoma,granular cell tumour or carcinoid),and mostly do not breach the *** submucosal tumours are a distinct group of tumours arising from the mesenchyme,and mostly do not breach the *** intramural growth of an advanced primary ESCC is an exceedingly rare presentation,with only six cases reported in the literature thus *** herein report a case of primary ESCC with complete intramural invasion that endoscopically mimics a submucosal *** SUMMARY A 50 year old male presented with a progressive mechanical type of dysphagia for one *** history was significant,including squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue that was treated with surgery and chemoradiation 1 year *** gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed a large,hemispherical lesion with normalappearing overlying mucosa about 4 cm×5 cm in size extending from 30-34 cm from *** patient underwent endoscopic ultrasound(EUS),and a fineneedle biopsy was performed,which was suggestive for squamous cell *** herein report a case of primary ESCC with complete intramural invasion,endoscopically mimicking a submucosal *** diagnosis could be established only by a EUS-guided *** This case report highlights that intramural ESCC may look like a submucosal lesion in endoscopy,and EUS biopsy is needed for final diagnosis.

Efficacy of 25 essential oils was screened against filarial vector, Culex quinquefasciatus, for their larvicidal and knockdown effects in a preliminary study. Of these, 8 oils viz. calamus oil, cinnamon oil, citronella oil, clove oil, eucalyptus oil, lemon oil, mentha oil and orange oil exhibited 100% larvicidal activity at 1000 ppm and 100% knockdown effect at 10% concentration. These 8 oils were screened further against Cx. Quinquefasciatus, Aedes aegypti and Anopheles stephensi for their larvicial and knockdown effects at different concentrations. Mentha oil was the most promising against An. Stephensi and Ae. Aegypti recording LC50 and LC90 values of 39.74 and 115.67 ppm and 46.23 and 165.36 ppm, respectively for larvicidal activity. Calamus oil was the most effective against Cx. Quinquefasciatus with LC50 and LC90 values of 40.40, and 140.07 ppm, respectively for larvicidal activity. Orange oil showed the most potent knockdown effect with the KT50 and KT95 values of 27.44, 26.22 and 29.91 and 70.81, 65.33 and 68.57 min, against An. stephensi, Cx. Quinquefasciatus and Ae. Aegypti, respectively. The results clearly indicated that mentha oil and calamus oil were the most promising larvicides and orange oil had potent knockdown effect against the tested mosquito species. These oils could be used to develop a new formulation to control mosquitoes.

A rapid and reproducible method to develop transgenic plants with enhanced transformation efficiency using Agrobacterium has been developed for the elite indica rice variety BPT 5204. Different rice calli aged from 3 to 30 d were co-cultivated with pre-incubated Agrobacterium suspension culture （LBA4404： pSB1, pCAMBIA1301） and incubated in dark for 3 d. Based on the transient GUS gene expression analysis, 6-day-old young calli showed high transformation frequency followed by 21-day-old ones. Thus, both 6-and 21-day-old calli were used for assessing the stable transformation efficiency. It was observed that the 6-day-old young transformed calli showed about 2-fold higher regeneration frequency when compared with 21-day-old calli. The transformation efficiency was enhanced for young calli to 5.9% compared with 0.8% of the 21-day-old calli. Molecular and genetic analysis of transgenic plants （To） revealed the presence of 1-2 copies of T-DNA integration in transformants and it follows Mendalian ratio in T1 transgenic plants. From the present study, it was concluded that the development of transgenic rice plants in less duration with high regeneration and transformation efficiency was achieved in BPT 5204 by using 6-day-old young calli as explants.

Ammonia volatilization is a major process of N (nitrogen) loss that affects the environment. The best way of capturing volatilized ammonia-N could be using zeolite as a good ion exchange medium before it gets either volatilized or nitrified. Thus, captured ammonia-N could be used as a source of inorganic nitrogen in ponds to promote algal production without adding additional organic carbon and BOD (biochemical oxygen demand). The zeolite used for the study was a commercially available zeolite, (CLINZEX) which was a fine powder (CEC (cation exchange capacity) 3.9-4 meq/g). The experiment was conducted to assess the difference between manure loaded system and zeolite loaded system in terms of water quality, TAN (total ammoniacal nitrogen) release and algal productivity. The difference between the BOD values recorded in both the controls and treatments utilizing chicken manure as source of manure-N remained mostly above 10 ppm. Similarly, the difference between mean COD (chemical oxygen demand) values of control and treatment tanks always remained above 7 ppm. All the experimental tanks loaded with zeolite samples from chicken manure showed range of variation in TAN values (0.018-0.08 mg/l). The range of values of chlorophyll a (1,029-5,150 mg/m 3 ) recorded in the treatment tanks was higher than the values (54.6-1347 mg/m 3 ) of chlorophyll a in the control tanks. F-test analysis done using highest mean values of BOD, COD, TAN and chlorophyll a showed a highly significant (P < 0.01) variation between the treatment and control tanks and at the same time no significant variation was found between time intervals.
