Thermo-Mechanical Modeling of High-strength Concrete Column subjected to Moderate Case Heating scenario in a Fire

This paper presents a numerically developed computer model to simulate the thermal behavior and evaluate the mechanical performance of a fixed ends centrically loaded High strength Concrete Column(HsCC),subjected to Moderate Case Heating scenario(MCHs),in a hydrocarbon *** temperature distribution within the mid-height cross-sectional area of the column was obtained to determine the thermal and mechanical responses as a function of *** governing two-dimensional transient heat transfer partial differential equation(PDE),was converted into a set of ordinary algebraic equations,subsequently,integrated numerically by using the explicit finite difference method,(FDM).A computer program,Visual Basic for Applications(VBA),was then developed to solve the set of ordinary algebraic equations by implementing the boundary as well as initial *** predictions of the model were validated against experimental data from previous *** general behavior of the model as well as the effect of the key model parameters were investigated at length in the ***,the reduction in the column’s compression strength and the modulus of elasticity was estimated using correlations from existing litera*** the HsCC failure load under fire conditions was predicted using the Rankine *** results showed that the model predictions of the temperature distribution within the concrete column are in good agreement with the experimental ***,the increase in temperature of the reinforced concrete column,(RCC),due to fire resulted in a significant reduction in the column compression strength and considerably accelerates the column fire failure load.

Electric vehicles(EVs)are becoming more popular worldwide due to environmental concerns,fuel security,and price *** performance of EVs relies on the energy stored in their batteries,which can be charged using either AC(slow)or DC(fast)***,EVs can also be used as mobile power storage devices using vehicle-to-grid(V2G)*** electronic converters(PECs)have a constructive role in EV applications,both in charging EVs and in ***,this paper comprehensively investigates the state of the art of EV charging topologies and PEC solutions for EV *** examines PECs from the point of view of their classifications,configurations,control approaches,and future research prospects and their impacts on power *** can be classified into various topologies:DC-DC converters,AC-DC converters,DC-AC converters,and AC-AC *** address the limitations of traditional DC-DC converters such as switching losses,size,and high-electromagnetic interference(EMI),resonant converters and multiport converters are being used in high-voltage EV ***,power-train converters have been modified for high-efficiency and reliability in EV *** paper offers an overview of charging topologies,PECs,challenges with solutions,and future trends in the field of the EV charging station applications.

single nucleotide polymorphism within chromosome 8q24 is associated with prostate cancer development in saudi Arabia

Objective: Genome-wide association studies have demonstrated that single nucleotide polymorphisms (sNPs) are important risk factors for the development of prostate cancer (PCa). Preliminary studies have suggested that the incidence of PCa in saudi males is low but is probably familial or genetically ***: To identify any possible association of sNP with PCa development in saudi patients, we investigated a group of sNPs in saudi PCa patients (n=85) and compared the outcomes to healthy normal controls (n=115) and nodular hyperplasia patients (n=120). DNA was extracted from paraffin-embedded formalin fixed tissue or whole blood from both patients’ groups and healthy control group. A total of thirteen sNPs were genotyped using TaqMan® minor groove binder polymerase chain reaction ***: The rs16901979A, s629242T and rs1447295A alleles were found at significantly higher frequency in PCa patients than controls (ps16901979 CA genotype was found at significantly greater frequency in PCa patients than in healthy controls (43% vs. 14%, odds ratio=4.6, p=0.0001) and benign hyperplasia group (43% vs. 25%, odds ratio=2.2, p=0.009).Conclusion: Our study has highlighted the association of rs16901979 sNP with PCa in saudi males. such findings have important implications in the PCa diagnosis and in screening unaffected family members of saudi patients.

Objective:To evaluate the combination therapy of pyronaridine tetraphosphate and diminazene aceturate against Babesia in vitro and in ***:Bioinformatic analysis was performed using atom pair *** in vitro combination test was performed against Babesia bovis and Theileria ***,the in vivo chemotherapeutic efficacy of pyronaridine tetraphosphate in combination with diminazene aceturate was investigated against the growth of Babesia microti in mice using a fluorescence inhibitory ***:Pyronaridine tetraphosphate and diminazene aceturate exhibited nearly similar molecular *** in vitro combination of pyronaridine tetraphosphate and diminazene aceturate was synergistic on Babesia bovis and additive on Theileria *** addition,5 mg/kg pyronaridine tetraphosphate combined with 10 mg/kg diminazene aceturate inhibited Babesia microti growth significantly compared with those observed after treatment with 25 mg/kg diminazene aceturate alone from day 6 post treatment to day 12 post *** combination therapy also normalized the hematological parameters of infected ***:An oral dose of pyronaridine tetraphosphate combined with a subcutaneous dose of diminazene aceturate inhibits Babesia in vitro and in mice,suggesting it might be a new paradigm for the treatment of babesiosis.

Comparative studies between Picard’s and Taylor’s Methods of Numerical solutions of First Ordinary Order Differential Equations Arising from Real-Life Problems

To solve the first-order differential equation derived from the problem of a free-falling object and the problem arising from Newton’s law of cooling, the study compares the numerical solutions obtained from Picard’s and Taylor’s series methods. We have carried out a descriptive analysis using the MATLAB software. Picard’s and Taylor’s techniques for deriving numerical solutions are both strong mathematical instruments that behave similarly. All first-order differential equations in standard form that have a constant function on the right-hand side share this similarity. As a result, we can conclude that Taylor’s approach is simpler to use, more effective, and more accurate. We will contrast Rung Kutta and Taylor’s methods in more detail in the following section.

The Influence of Information Technology(IT)on Accrual Accounting Adoption:The Case of the Jordanian Public sector

Jordan is one of many countries that intends to reform its public sector by adopting accrual accounting,which is primarily carried out through the International Public sector Accounting standards(IPsAs)implementation plan,scheduled to be completed by *** the difficulties of adoption,this process cannot be completed without an appropriate Information Technology(IT)system capable of providing the accounting information required for this ***,this study aims to examine the influence of IT on accrual accounting adoption in the Jordanian public *** study employed the quantitative survey *** on 331 usable questionnaires,the descriptive findings showed that the use of IT in the Jordanian public sector is relevant to daily accounting transactions in general and to accrual accounting in *** regression analysis showed a positive,significant relationship between IT use and accrual accounting *** IT specialist should be able to understand the needs of public sector in adopting accrual-based *** line with today’s digitalization age,which integrates advanced technologies and numerous techniques,this study suggests that a combination of accounting and IT experts is a value added to sharpen the competitiveness of public sector *** study contributes to the extant literature in public sector,concerning the relationship between IT and accrual accounting adoption in the context of Jordan.

Background Minimally invasive surgery(MIs)for spontaneous supratentorial intracerebral haemorrhage(ICH)is controversial but may be beneficial if end-of-treatment(EOT)haematoma volume is reduced to≤15 *** explored whether MRI findings of cerebral small vessel disease(CsVD)modify the effect of MIs on long-term *** Prespecified blinded subgroup analysis of 288 subjects with qualified imaging sequences from the phase 3 Minimally Invasive surgery Plus Alteplase for Intracerebral Haemorrhage Evacuation(MIsTIE)*** tested for heterogeneity in the effects of MIs and MIs+EOT volume≤15 mL on the trial’s primary outcome of good versus poor function at 1 year by the presence of single CsVD features and CsVD scores using multivariable *** Of 499 patients enrolled in MIsTIE III,288 patients had MRI,149(51.7%)randomised to MIs and 139(48.3%)to standard medical care(sMC).Median(IQR)ICH volume was 42(30–53)*** the full MRI cohort,there was no statistically significant heterogeneity in the effects of MIs versus sMC on 1-year outcomes by any specific CsVD feature or by CsVD scores(all P_(interaction)>0.05).In 94 MIs patients with EOT ICH volume≤15 mL,significant reduction in odds of poor outcome was found with cerebral amyloid angiopathy scoresence of lacunes(OR,0.37(0.18–0.80);P_(interaction)=0.02)and absence of severe white matter hyperintensities(WMHs)(OR,0.22(0.08–0.58);P_(interaction)=0.03).Conclusions Following successful haematoma reduction by MIs,we found significantly lower odds of poor functional outcome with lower total burden of CsVD in addition to absence of lacunes and severe *** features may have utility for prognostication and patient selection in clinical trials of MIs.

Evaluation of the Neurodevelopmental Outcome of Toddlers with spinal Dysraphism after surgical Repair Using AsQ-3<sup>™sup> scores

Background: spinal dysraphism represents a wide spectrum of congenital abnormalities of the spine. Myelomeningocele is considered the most common malformation and the most common we saw in our community, with its morbidity problems seen commonly in the postoperative period. AsQ-3sup>TMsup> scores are the ages and stages questionnaire, third edition, and represent a tool to assess the development progress, especially in toddlers. Objectives: Evaluation of neurodevelopmental outcome among sudanese toddlers with spinal dysraphism after surgical closure with or without a VP shunt using AsQ-3sup>TMsup> scores. Methodology: This is a retrospective hospital-based study of 84 patients who underwent myelomeningocele repair at the National Center for Neurological sciences (NCNs) during the period from 2017 up to 2019. Data were collected through a constructed questionnaire, including AsQ-3sup>TMsup> scores. Data were processed and analyzed using the statistical Package for social science (sPss) computer program. Version 25. Results: 84 patients were included in this study;all patients were diagnosed with spinal dysraphism. Out of them, 51 (60.7%) were 2 years old, 33 (39.3%) were 3 years old, 45 (53.6%) were male, 45 (53.6%) of patients mothers attended ANC irregularly, and 54 (64.3%) their mothers didn’t receive folate supplements. 44 (52.3%) of patients underwent MMC repair only, while 40 (47.7%) underwent MMC repair and VP shunt. The commonest postoperative complication was infection, reported in 12 (14.3%) of patients, followed by VP shunt revision in 9 (10.7%) of patients. Neurological assessment showed that the majority of patients need further assessment with a professional, 57 (67.9%) of children don’t walk, run, or climb like other toddlers as their parent’s state;also, half of patients (42, 50%) had medical problems, and 27 (32.1%) of their parent’s state that they do not talk like other toddlers their age. Nephronophthisis-related ciliopathies(NPHP-RC)represent one of the most common causes of chronic kidney disease in the first three decades of life and are characterized by a broad genetic and clinical heterogeneity.1 To date,more than 90 genes have been identified that cause autosomalrecessive NPHP-RC if mutated,accounting for up to 60%of cases.1 Among these,homozygous deletions of NPHP1 are the most common *** genes localize to primary cilia,basal bodies,or the centrosome and lead to a primary ciliary disruption if mutated,thereby causing a broad phenotypical spectrum.1 Patients that suffer from NPHP-RC can either have an isolated renal phenotype,such as polyuria,polydipsia,decreased urinary concentration ability,and secondary enuresis due to loss of tubular function,or present with extrarenal symptoms including retinal degeneration,cerebellar vermis hypoplasia,or hepatic *** are often diagnosed in early adolescence,reaching end-stage renal disease before 25 years of age,but early onset and rapidly progressive forms of NPHP-RC also exist.1 Renal ultrasound indicates kidneys of normal or reduced renal length with increased echogenicity and corticomedullary cysts.
