Therapeutic Properties of Flavonoids in Treatment of Cancer through Autophagic Modulation:A systematic Review

Cancers have high morbidity and mortality rates *** anticancer therapies have demonstrated specific signaling pathways as a target in the involvement of *** is a quality control system for proteins and plays a fundamental role in cancer carcinogenesis,exerting an anticarcinogenic role in normal cells and can inhibit the transformation of malignant ***,drugs aimed at autophagy can function as antitumor *** are a class of polyphenolic secondary metabolites commonly found in plants and,consequently,consumed in *** this review,the systematic search strategy was used,which included the search for descriptors"flavonoids"AND"mTOR pathway"AND"cancer"AND"autophagy",in the electronic databases of PubMed,Cochrane Library,Web of science and scopus,from January 2011 to January *** current literature demonstrates that flavonoids have anticarcinogenic properties,including inhibition of cell proliferation,induction of apoptosis,autophagy,necrosis,cell cycle arrest,senescence,impaired cell migration,invasion,tumor angiogenesis and reduced resistance to multiple drugs in tumor *** demonstrate the available evidence on the roles of flavonoids and autophagy in cancer progression and inhibition.(Registration ***42021243071 at PROsPERO)

Communicating with the non-dominant hemisphere:Implications for neurological rehabilitation

Aphasic syndromes usually result from injuries to the dominant hemisphere of the brain. despite the fact that localization of language functions shows little interindividual variability, several brain areas are simultaneously activated when language tasks are undertaken. Mechanisms of language recovery after brain injury to the dominant hemisphere seem to be relatively stereotyped, including activations of perilesional areas in the acute phase and of homologues of language areas in the non-dominant hemisphere in the subacute phase, later returning to dominant hemisphere activation in the chronic phase. Plasticity mechanisms reopen the critical period of language development, more specifically in what leads to disinhibition of the non-dominant hemisphere when brain lesions affect the dominant hemisphere. The non-dominant hemisphere plays an important role during recovery from aphasia, but currently available rehabilitation therapies have shown limited results for efficient language improvement. Large-scale randomized controlled trials that evaluate well-defined interventions in patients with aphasia are needed for stimulation of neuroplasticity mechanisms that enhance the role of the non-dominant hemisphere for language recovery. Ineffective treatment approaches should be replaced by more promising ones and the latter should be evaluated for proper application. The data generated by such studies could substantiate evidence-based rehabilitation strategies for patients with aphasia.

Alzheimer's disease is a severe, highly disabling neurodegenerative disease, clinically characterized by a progressive decline in cognitive functions, and is the most common form of dementia in the elderly. For decades, the search for disease-modifying therapies has focused on the two main Alzheimer's disease histopathological hallmarks, seeking to prevent, mitigate, or clear the formation of extracellular aggregates of β-amyloid peptide and intracellular neurofibrillary tangles of tau protein, although without clinical success. Mesenchymal stem cell-based therapy has emerged as a promising alternative for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, especially because it also targets other crucial players in the pathogenesis of the disease, such as neuroinflammation, synaptic dysfunction/loss, oxidative stress, and impaired neurogenesis. Herein, we review current knowledge of the therapeutic potential of mesenchymal stem cells and their extracellular vesicles for Alzheimer's disease, discussing the most recent findings in both preclinical and clinical trials as well as how advanced technologies have helped to overcome some limitations and contributed to stimulate the development of more effective treatments.

Implementation of a High-Risk Outpatient Clinic for Children with Complex Congenital Heart Disease in a Reference service in Brazil

Background:Children with congenital heart disease(CHD),even after surgical approaches,and especially those who undergo staged procedures in theﬁrst months of life,remain vulnerable to readmissions and complications,requiring very close monitoring and differentiated intervention ***:descriptive and exploratory study,of the experience report type,which presents the process of building the high-risk outpatient clinic for complex congenital heart diseases(AAR)at the Instituto do Coração(InCor).Results:Report of the path taken to structure the AAR,demonstrating the organization,interface with the multidisciplinary team,admission and discharge criteria,training,and patient proﬁ*** theseﬁve years of care,275 patients were treated,59.65%with biventricular interstage physiology,followed by univentricular interstage physiology(34.55%),residual defects after surgical procedures(3.63%),tumors with risk of mechanical obstruction(1.45%)and patients with an intrauterine approach(0.72%).The signiﬁcant number of critical patients who were successfully discharged from hospital(44.72%),the low mortality rate due to sudden deaths at home and the high adherence to follow-up cor-roborate the impact of this specialized ***:despite the limitations of the study,this experi-ence report showed that with few resources,there is the possibility of organizing an AAR with differentiated care,with the objective of early detection and treatment of residual injuries,identiﬁcation of early interventions,edu-cation of parents for follow-up of their children,resulting in individualized treatment,promoting a better quality of life for this population.

Mesenchymal stem cells(MsC)have pushed the field of stem cell-based therapies by inducing tissue regeneration,immunosuppression,and angiogenesis mainly through vesicles and soluble factors release(paracrine signaling).MsC-extracellular vesicles(MsC-EV)adaptable secretome and homing to injured sites allowed researchers to unlock a new era of cell-free based *** parallel,nanoparticles(NP)have been explored in contributing to transport and drug delivery systems,giving drugs desired physical-chemical properties to exploit cell ***,NPs can be quickly recognized by immune cells and cleared from *** this viewpoint,we explore how combining both therapeutic strategies can improve efficacy and circumvent limitations of both *** benefit from the potent MsC membrane composition,guiding chemotaxis to tumor sites,a very restricted ***-EV has low immunogenicity,high stability,long half-life and can explore tissue targeting ligands as a precise drug carry,even across biological *** properties promote enhanced targeted drug delivery that can be combined with NP,exploring biological membrane production through:*** cell therapy with NP-infused MsC;***-containing MsC-EV generated by NP-infused MsC;*** coating NP in MsC membrane(“MsC NanoGhosts”),allowing precise cargo definition without losing ***,nanotechnology combined with cell-based therapeutic resources can greatly improve targeted drug delivery,improving efficacy and opening a new venue of therapeutic possibilities.

Atopic dermatitis(AD)is a chronic,relapsing,multifactorial inflammatory disease with genetic,environmental,and immunological *** quality of life and sleep of patients and their families are affected by AD,which triggers stress,described as one of the factors that worsens *** biomarkers such as cortisol,alpha-amylase,chromogranin A,and melatonin have been associated with stress and sleep ***,the evaluation of stress and sleep disorders using salivary biomarkers in AD patients is *** review aims to describe the possible relationship between atopic dermatitis and stress,sleep disorders,and salivary biomarkers,seeking to contribute to better understanding and clinical management of *** descriptive study is characterized as a narrative literature review.A literature search was conducted of studies published in English and Portuguese between January 2012 and October 2022 that are available in electronic media from various databases,such as scientific Electronic Library Online,Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health sciences,and *** is associated with different degrees of impact on the lives of individuals who present with the *** stress may induce changes in saliva composition and worsen AD;at the same time,the severity of the disease may be associated with emotional *** studies are needed to assess and correlate AD severity,stress,and sleep disturbances with salivary biomarkers in order to better understand this association.

Background:In Cerrado humid areas,veredas are considered as hygrophilous communities,marked by the presence of the Mauritia flexuosa palm tree emerging in the wetter *** in veredas ecosystems due to drought and changes in the water table,which represent important areas for biodiversity maintenance in the Brazilian cerrado,can lead to the emergence of new landscapes and *** that the veredas are changed in species composition due to anthropogenic factors,in this study,we evaluated the flora composition and described the current vegetation profile of two veredas under different disturbances levels that are located in the north of Minas Gerais state,***:Altogether,2,268 individuals of 91 species belonging to 36 families were *** results demonstrated that the studied veredas were floristically different in terms of the arboreous-shrubby species composition,richness,and *** the hygrophilous forest formations and open areas in the two veredas present typical species from these environments(same species with high importance values),the drought in the water table caused an expansion of Cerrado species in the open areas and in the hygrophilous ***,in the hygrophilous forest there was an increase in the abundance of species that occur in less saturated ***:Our results demonstrate that the studied veredas are changing in species composition due to anthropogenic factors which leads to the drought of these formations(water balance effect).These anthropogenic effects cause a modification with the expansion and increase in the abundance of typical species of other areas of Cerrado and resistant to less saturated soils,leading to the veredas ***,future studies should investigate other veredas on a broader scale to detect changes in the water table that lead to a consequent change in vegetation *** this way,we will have support for the conscientious management and conservatio
