Large ground-based laser beam interferometers are presently in operation both in the USA （LIGO） and in Europe （VIRGO） and potential sources that might be detected by these instruments are revisited. The present generation of detectors does not have a sensitivity high enough to probe a significant volume of the universe and, consequently, predicted event rates are very low. The planned advanced generation of interferometers will probably be able to detect, for the first time, a gravitational sig- nal. Advanced LIGO and EGO instruments are expected to detect few （some）： binary coalescences consisting of either two neutron stars, two black holes or a neutron star and a black hole. In space, the sensitivity of the planned LISA spacecraft constellation will allow the detection of the gravitational signals, even within a ＂pessimistic＂ range of possible signals, produced during the capture of compact objects by supermassive black holes, at a rate of a few tens per year.

Uxi (Endopleura uchi) is a plant from the Brazilian Amazon. It has many biological activities that are attributed to its main active component, bergenin (BG), which has low water solubility. The aim of this work was to obtain β-cyclodextrin (β-cd) inclusion complexes of uxi using lyophilized cooked rice as the solid substrate. The process was studied using a Box–Behnken design with the solution feed rate, molar ratio of β-cd to BG, and rice bed load as factors. These factors greatly affected the product bulk density, angle of repose, water content, and BG content, loss, and water solubility. The optimum process conditions determined using a desirability functions methodology were an extract feed rate of 1 mL/min, a ratio of β-cd to BG of 3:1, and a substrate load of 100 g. The predicted values under the optimum conditions were close to the experimental results of a water content of 5.8%± 0.2%, BG content of 985.7 ± 15.4 μg/g, BG water solubility of 2230.2 ± 21.1 μg/mL, and BG loss of 1.2%± 0.1%. These results confirm that spouted beds are an important tool for rapid, one-step preparation of pharmaceutical β-cd inclusion complexes in a solid form.

Housing development has become one of the main strategies to alleviate impoverished communities in developing countries. In the past, policies and programs focused on either economic or social aspects, and numerous imported solutions had failed to produce satisfactory results. At present, holistic approaches integrating all dimensions of human activity and environmental impact are gaining recognition as suitable alternatives for various experiences in developing nations. However, these approaches do not properly consider the local context, which is different for each case, thereby leading to inadequate models and unsuccessful implementations. This paper presents a context-driven and integrated approach for rural areas in developing nations for one of the most basic human endeavors, i.e., constructing a house. The self-building process utilized in constructing houses is a major strategy to help communities overcome poverty. Such a house must be capable of accommodating economic activities; must be durable yet flexible in layout and size; and must offer all basic services, including water, sanitation, and energy. consequently, the Inclusive Housing Program is developed and employed in Oe-cusse, a remote region of East Timor, as an integral part of the Regional Plan.

A sericin/alginate blend was successfully applied as a matrix for incorporation of *** provided a sustained release formulation,which could improve the therapeutic efficacy of ibuprofen and patient adherence to *** increased the proportion of drug incorporated into the particles (i.e., the drug incorporation efficiency),with incorporation rates between 73.01%±1.70%and 94.15%±4.21%. Background:The purpose of the study was to determine the advantages and disadvantages of epi-on corneal crosslinking(cXL)techniques compared with standard epi-off ***:We searched MEdLINE and EMBASE for randomized controlled trials(RcTs)and non-randomized studies of interventions(NRSIs)and we evaluated the selected papers according to the cochrane risk of bias *** considered,as primary outcomes,average Kmax flattening,changes in uncorrected and corrected distance visual acuity(UdVA and cdVA);as secondary outcomes,we considered changes in pachymetry values and endothelial cell density(Ecd).We also investigated adverse events related to the treatments and treatment ***-analysis was conducted with a fixed or random-effects model using weighted mean difference(Md)with 95%confidence interval(cI)as the effect ***:A total of 15 studies were included and among these 15 trials,9 were RcTs and 6 were NRSIs,but only 4 studies showed no high risk of bias and were included in this *** analysis revealed significant postoperative differences in cdVA(Md=0.07;95%cI 0.04 to 0.10;Pd no significative differences in UdVA,Kmax,central corneal thickness(ccT)and Ecd(P>0.05).Epi-on cXL protocol was found to be significantly less prompt to have risks of delay in epithelial healing(P=0.035)and persistent stromal haze(P=0.026).conclusion:Epi-on cXL is as effective as epi-off *** for a higher significant improvement in cdVA with current epi-on protocols,our meta-analysis demonstrates that epi-on and epi-off cXL have comparable effects on visual,topographic,pachymetric,and endothelial ***-on cXL has clinical advantages in terms of comfort and avoidance of complications as it reduces the risk of developing delay in epithelial healing and persistent stromal haze.

In this study, the nanostructures of pure ZnO and ZnO:xce3+ were prepared using statistic design—factorial design 3(3−1)−3-level and mixed-level factorials and fractional with replicates in the central point, totaling 11 experiments. The experiments were performed using the microwave-assisted hydrothermal (MAH) method with ce3+ concentration of 2 and 4 mol% at 60, 110, and 160 °c for 10, 20, and 30 min. X-ray diffraction (XRd), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and optical diffuse reflectance were used to characterize the products. The fractional factorial design indicated the optimal design area, and the studies were continued by ridge analysis. The analysis of variance (ANOVA), the Pareto, and the model adjusted to the conditions proposed in this study due to the determination coefficient of 99.9%, variance (R 2), and response surface generated were satisfactory, thus having an optimization in the process of obtaining ZnO doped with ce.

Graphene/Ni（110） has been studied by time-resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure. The c ls core level shows a splitting typical of periodically rippled interfaces. The analysis of the c K-edge reveals that the interface states previously observed for graphene/Ni（111） are suppressed in graphene/Ni（110）. This suppression is due to the reduced hybridization of the dirac-cone electrons in graphene with the d-bands of the （110）-oriented nickel contacts. Our results show that, contrary to commensurate growth of graphene on Ni（111）, epitaxially grown graphene on Ni（110） behaves as a quasi-freestanding sheet, as the lattice mismatch gives rise to a moir6 reconstruction.
