Optimal machining conditions for turning Ti-6Al-4V using response surface methodology

Machining titanium is one of ever-increasing magnitude problems due to its characteristics such as low thermal conductivity, modulus of elasticity and work hardening. The efficient titanium alloy machining involves a proper selection of process parameters to minimize the tangential force （Fz） and surface roughness （Ra）. In the present work, the performance of PVD/TiA1N coated carbide inserts was investigated using response surface methodology （RSM） for turning Ti-6A1-4V. The effects of process parameters such as speed （v）, feed （/＇）, depth of cut （d） and back rake angle （Ty） on Fz and Ra were investi- gated. The experimental plan used for four factors and three levels was designed based on face centered, central composite design （CCD）. The experimental results indi- cated that Fz increased with the increase in d, f and decreased with the increase in v and yy, whereas Ra decreased with the increase in v and 7y, and increased with d and v. The goodness of fit of the regression equations and model fits （R2） for Fz and Ra were found to be 0.968 and 0.970, which demonstrated that it was an effective model. A confirmation test was also conducted in order to verify the correctness of the model.

To summarise the literature data on hepatitis C virus (HCV)-infected patients concerning the prevalence of glucose abnormalities and associated *** conducted a PubMed search and selected all studies found with the key words 'HCV' or 'hepatitis C virus' and 'diabetes' or 'insulin resistance'. We included only comparative studies written in English or in French, published from January 2000 to April 2015. We collected the literature data on HCV-infected patients concerning the prevalence of glucose abnormalities [diabetes mellitus (DM) and insulin resistance (IR)] and associated risk [i.e., severe liver fibrosis, response to antivirals, and the occurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)].RESULTSHCV infection is significantly associated with DM/IR compared with healthy volunteers and patients with hepatitis B virus infection. Glucose abnormalities were associated with advanced liver fibrosis, lack of sustained virologic response to interferon alfa-based treatment and with a higher risk of HCC development. As new antiviral therapies may offer a cure for HCV infection, such data should be taken into account, from a therapeutic and preventive point of view, for liver and non-liver consequences of HCV disease. The efficacy of antidiabetic treatment in improving the response to antiviral treatment and in decreasing the risk of HCC has been reported by some studies but not by others. Thus, the effects of glucose abnormalities correction in reducing liver events need further *** abnormalities are strongly associated with HCV infection and show a negative impact on the main liver related outcomes.

The wetting behavior between liquid aluminium and substrates made from industrial Al2O3 and SiC based ceramic foam filters （CFF） was investigated. The same CFF filters were also tested in plant scale filtration experiments. The wetting experiment results show that the SiC based filter material is better wetted by liquid aluminium than the Al2O3 based filter material. This indicates that the improved wetting of aluminium on a filter material is an advantage for molten metal to infiltrate the filter during priming. Also, better wetting of Al-filter might increase the removal efficiency of inclusions during filtration due to better contact between filter and metal. Non-wetted inclusions are easier to be removed.

Co-evolution of host-parasitoid interactions is determined by the costs of host resistance, which received empirical evidence, and the costs ofparasitoid virulence, which have been mostly hypothesized. Asobara tabida is a parasitoid, which mainly parasitizes Drosophila melanogaster and D. subobscura, the first species being able to resist to the parasitoid development while the second species is not. To parasitize resistant hosts, including D. melanogaster, A. tabida develops sticky eggs, which prevent encapsulation, but this virulence mechanism may be costly. Interindividual and interpopulation variation in the proportion of sticky eggs respectively allowed us to （i） artificially select and compare life-history traits of a virulent and a nonvirulent laboratory strain, and （ii） compare a virulent and a nonvirulent field strain, to investigate the hypothetical costs of virulence. We observed strong differences between the 2 laboratory strains. The nonvirulent strain invested fewer resources in reproduction and walked less than the virulent one but lived longer. Concerning the field strains, we observed that the nonvirulent strain had larger wings while the virulent one walked more and faster. All together, our results suggest that virulence may not always be costly, but rather that different life histories associated with different levels of virulence may coexist at both intra- and interDoDulation levels.

Surface topography is one of the key factors in regulating interactions between materials and *** topographies presented to cells in vivo are non-symmetrical and in complex shapes,current fabrication techniques are limited to replicate these complex *** this study,we developed a microcasting technique and successfully produced imprinted hydroxyapatite(HAp)surfaces with nature-inspired(honeycomb,pillars,and isolated islands)*** in vitro biological performance of the developed non-symmetrical topographies was evaluated using adipose-derived stem cells(ADSCs).We demonstrated that ADSCs cultured on all HAp surfaces,except honeycomb patterns,presented well-defined stress fibers and expressed focal adhesion protein(paxillin)*** islands topographies significantly promoted osteogenic differentiation of ADSCs with increased alkaline phosphatase activity and upregulation of key osteogenic markers,compared to the other topographies and the control unmodified(flat)HAp *** contrast,honeycomb topographies hampered the ability of the ADSCs to proliferate and differentiate to the osteogenic *** work presents a facile technique to imprint nature-derived topographies on the surface of bioceramics which opens up opportunities for the development of bioresponsive interfaces in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.

The present study critically explores and discusses the concept of value co-creation asrevealed and recognized in the research streams that have formed the conceptual basis forthe construct:service-dominant logic,service logic,and customer-dominant *** is positioned within critical hermeneutics;thus,a hermeneutic review strategy isapplied and the subsequent critical discussion is inspired by a Habermasian understandingof society as composed of a system and *** findings of the study are twofold;they reveal how different underlying assumptions frame the perception of the unit ofanalysis when focusing on value co-creation and how that the relocation of the locus ofvalue creation from the company to the customer sphere hides that value is an economicconcept in service marketing ***,the analysis reveals that in servicesmarket research,the concept of value co-creation in a company is applied to analyze thecustomer *** dimension has not received much academic attention despite thatthe existing concept might be applicable neither analytically nor *** on value co-creation acknowledges that the meaning of the concept is *** present study therefore contributes to literature with a refined conceptualunderstanding of how the underlying perceptions of the concept lead to differentanalytical foci in existing research and by identifying questions for further ***,the review and the discussion are based within a hermeneutic paradigm andcontribute as such with a rarely applied review methodology within the field of service marketing.
